TDesk - Trend Indicator using smoothed HA

Very exciting times! As a predominately manual, trend-based trader, my strategies revolve around defining the trend and then taking bites out of this direction with a suitable signal. Often the trend is defined at a higher timeframe and then the signals are created on a lower timeframe.

Enjoy, Bruster.
Bruster,

Thanks for sharing that. :good:

Gives a similar line as 50 EMA actually, but so much more visual. :D

I too like to take bites out of the market, preferably BIG bites, so mainly watch the 4 hour price action.

Coupling this indicator with a previous weekly high breakout has produced spectacular results on the GBPNZD chart as shown.

Of course, it's all hindsight, but sure gives me something to watch for in the coming weeks; any thoughts and ideas about this? Is this similar to how you would trade on the 1 hour as mentioned?

Certainly, the outcome will depend on individual trading style, eg. take 1 large position and hold it, or many small entries as price progresses in favor?

TDesk is an awesome tool to monitor the charts; I find it especially great for closing and opening charts whenever making a change. I never worry about saving Profiles anymore, no need.

Big thanks to Thomas (tomele) for all the hard work and effort going into this development :!!:

Cheers, good luck all, John

Hi Ben

Re your version of the Fisher transformation
Thanks for sharing this I think this is a really useful indicator.
Ben correct me if I am wrong here, my read of what you have done is to generate the signal when the Fisher value is + or Minus of zero. I sometimes use this zero cross as a fairly solid indication that a move is becoming a trend. But I mostly use the Fisher transformation for an entry/exit signal based on the slope. The Fisher calculation is clever mathematically in the way that it forms a peak around the turn of price. It would be great to have a TD v2 version that allowed us to choose between the two ways of using the indy - could be two separate indys or option to have either signal or both. There is a third way to use the indy which may come in handy and was mentioned by Steve in Leon's thread. Where the Fisher value is hitting a high or low beyond 75 or 80 or below 25 or 20 that is a strong signal, so this could be used to only fire the 'best Fisher' signal for some strategies. For example with Leon's modified 10.9 manual trading set-up, if you fulfill his criteria and also look for a strong Fisher entry signal on H1 this is a really solid entry. Whatever you can do along these lines will be appreciated. And congrats on some good programming.

Hi John,

Yes, that's similar to how I would trade the 1hour (and the 4 hour in fact). I use several triggers for entry in line with the trend and breaks of key levels are the majority. The other is rejections from the HAS line (see pic) - basically a pullback to the HAS line and then a continuation entry. My third would be breaks of pullback trend lines or HH/LL structure. The key to all of this though is actually risk management and consistency. Every trade needs to fit your rules for placement and risk and whilst it's fine for trades to fail, you need to understand the statistical performance of your "system" as a whole over the last 40-50 trades at least. Without having confidence in the statistics of your results (and I don't mean pips delivered!!) then you'll never be able to put real money behind anything.

What happened there? I was watching this on 4 hour and 1 hour by apply the indicator twice, now the time frame setting is gone?

cheers

My indi never had a timeframe setting as I don't use one. Steve kindly converted my original posted indi to give it the new Timeframe setting so you must have downloaded that one. You're going to have to rely on his generosity to do it again unless someone else is prepared to step up and help with that?

Hi pacinvest,

Thank you for your information.

As much as I'm able to, I try to use the code and the structure that Thomas/tomele uses.
I'm only starting to code and without his indicators I would not be able to make these conversions.

You are right.
The current version is giving an UpArrow when the indicator is >0 and a DownArrow when it is <0.
I will try to include the signal line and the levels in a new version.

Please, give feed-back if the indicator behaves well when loaded on all the charts?

Cheers
Ben
