SMScom / Neotrader,

you might want to consider to bring the iCustom call on WOH1 and WOH2 in-house

Code: Select all

//+------------------------------------------------------------------+
//| GetWOH()                                                        |
//+------------------------------------------------------------------+
        GetWOH(string symbol, int tf, int shift)

        double wo, ma, v;
        int nLimit, i;
        int nCountedBars;

        nCountedBars = IndicatorCounted();
        //---- check for possible errors
        if(nCountedBars<0) return(-1);
        //---- last counted bar will be recounted
        if(nCountedBars>0) nCountedBars--;
        nLimit = Bars-nCountedBars;
        if(nLimit>barsToProcess) nLimit=barsToProcess;
        //---- main loop
        for(i=0; i<nLimit; i++)
          {
          //  DownBuffer[i] = 0.0;
          //  UpBuffer[i]   = 0.0;
          //  ZeroBuffer[i] = 0.0;

            if(TimeDayOfWeek(iTime(symbol,0,i))==0)
              {
                if(Trigger==true)
                  {
                    Trigger=false;  // Trigger fired
                    j++;
                  }
              }
            if(i==0 || i==1) j=0;

            if(TimeDayOfWeek(iTime(NULL,0,i))!= 0) Trigger=true;  // Trigger reset

            wo = iMA(symbol,PERIOD_W1,2,1,MODE_LWMA,PRICE_OPEN,j);
            ma = iMA(symbol,0,1,0,MODE_SMA,PRICE_MEDIAN,i);
            v = NormalizeDouble(ma-wo,Digits)

            return ( v );
          }
        //----
        return(0);
      }

Hi aacd,
aacd_1 wrote:Can you introduce some usage about your indicator?
for me now, I hidden the diff line and observe the base and cross currency.
open order when H4 cross occured and H1 ALREADY crossed.
Actually i am evaluating also the usage possibilities of this indicator... and I'm also looking at combinations like that one you mentioned. I also include the diff-slope in my explorations...to see how it behaves in relation to the market and also use different TF with this indicator.

I hope that other users will share also their findings so we might find some good combinations.

As for now i am looking at crosses of different levels like the levels defined by NB 0.4 0.8, -0.4 -0.8 but also evaluate some other levels like 0.2, 0.5, 1.0 and also crosses of the zero line and crosses of the three lines in general. And all this across multiple TFs, also some lower TFs like M30.
Since we can not run automated tests with the strategy tester it is a rather time consuming endeavor but at least we can do a visual back test yet with the tmaTrueMode activated.

I am also thinking about a version of this indicator and also the normal tma slope with multiple TF TMA slopes in one indicator Window...
Something like the Guppy MMA or Rainbow style MAs but with the TMA and or TMA-CSS as base calculation.
Must try it out and see how performant and resource hungry this beast will be.

And I will try to understand... ;)
forexripper wrote:So in my e.g. it is GBPNZD pair.
BaseCurrency = GBP
CrossCurrency = NZD

Yesterday i.e. June 17th GBP slope (normal not true) was -0.43 and NZD slope(norm) was 0..75 so the ratio of weak to strong i.e. GBP to NZD was 0.43/0.75 = 0.57 and today it is 0.41. This shows that GBP has gained some ground against NZD since yesterday so I will look to close any GBPNZD short positions. So the indicator should have looked for say short this pair when its ratio went below 0.8 and close (today) when the ratio fell below 0.5. Time can be user defined. I like to look at NY close.
Ahhhh... now i understand your intention....;)
Do you always want the ratio to be weak/strong or you prefer a switch to also be able to have strong/weak? I personally think that only the weak/strong should be enough.
But i see a little challenge when we do it the weak/strong way...we never know if the result is related to the Base- or Crosscurrency...since the weak/strong Currencies can change anytime.
If we based the calculation on BaseCur/CrossCur this would not be the case.
Related to your example above...we would have the value of 0.57, but how will you tell that this is related to the GBP or NZD if you had only this ratio value/slope? Please think about this. I will also think about it ;)
forexripper wrote:Hope this helps.
Yep it helped, but also put some questions in my mind... ;)
forexripper wrote:Thanks again for considering this request.
you're welcome...but it will take a little time since i have also a dayjob that needs my attention.. ;)

Some of us feel like high school drop outs in a Harvard graduate school lecture room, just keeping up with developments is a struggle. So, please keep up the good work and do not be disheartened. The lack of comment is not due to us being unappreciative but it is more due to the fact that we are finding it hard to keep up. :roll:

Kind regards
Summed up my feelings exactly! Keep up the good work guys.

Yepp. Astral77. That really reflects my feelings here. I need so much time to read the posts and understand them. I have ideas and when i think: 'hey lets post it' then there was someone quicker :-)
I think the CurrencyStrength is something we can rely on...

I am not sure if I will be able to respond to that but will give it a shot.
I think the weak would be with slope lower in the pair than the other one. Also, strong will most cases have +ve slope # and may be even > 0.4 on D1. So when we have 0.57 ratio for GBPNZD it would mean short this pair as slope of GBP would be less than NZD. So kind of the system should know based on slope which one is strong and which is weak and then based on ratio values (we select say when ratio gets below 0.8 or 0.9) it should trigger short trade in my example. Did this help?

Ok... i will try it... will see. Do you want the ratio only as a value in the right table or also as a slope? And we are talking to implement this in my "NT TMA-CSS-SP" Indicator...yes?

Only numbers on the right should be fine for now. I was thinking of this using the currency slope strength normal indicator and also with true. Kind of optional if possible. What do you think?
As my idea is of ratio hence CSSDiff will not be required.
Is it possible to create an EA for it so we can test that too. Too demanding may be. Feel free to reject my ideas. Thanks

NeoTrader:
Thanks for taking up my cause. In all honesty it is not my Mod. My skills are more of the "cut and paste" variety although I'm learning more every day thanks to coders such as yourself. My hat is off to whoever did do the Verb Mod as it has become my favorite indy. Do with it what you will and keep the ball rolling. Not to be greedy but (there's always a "but"!) would love to see true MTF functionality as I would like to put up 5/15 minutes and 1/4 hour indicators on my charts to see if better entries can be achieved. An audible alert with message box would be helpful as well. Then again, you were probably already moving in that direction. Thanks once again, NeoTrader.
