A simple setting but here it is. I have set the .05 Atr setting which has given the above results to .12 today. So a new test really. Will have to see how it plays out.

Thank you very much!

I have made a small change to HGIDancer, with the addition of three new parameters:

UseTrendArrows (Default: true)
UseRangeArrows (Default: false)
UseRadArrows (Default: true)

With these parameters you can effectively switch off certain types of HGI signals. If you switch off the Range arrows and it finds a Range UP arrow at shift=1, it will continue to look further for other signals. If it then finds a Trend DOWN arrow at shift=2, it decides that the trend is still DOWN (assuming that the HGILookBack would include at least 2 candles). If you set all three parameters (UseTrendArrows, UseRangeArrows and UseRadArrows) to true, version 1.1 is logically equivalent to version 1.0. If you want to replace version 1.0 with version 1.1, there is no need to close an open sequence. You can just proceed as follows:

1. Copy the new 1.1 version into \Experts and refresh the navigator panel.
2. Save your existing 1.0 parameters to a set-file
3. Remove the 1.0 EA from the chart
4. Load the new 1.1 EA and apply the saved set-file.

You will need to do these steps for all the charts that are running HGIDancer.

You will find the updated HGIDancerv1.1.ex4 in Post 1.

Have fun and good luck!

Hi Guys,

Rene thanks for the changes :good: .

Something I need to mention...well at least for my circumstances and something I am very aware of. Whilst it can be very profitable to trade the daily t/frame and ride the trend...my concern is with trend swings, which can be realized many pips later before opposite signals and trades on the daily time frame especially.

Eurusd Daily:
EURUSDDaily 261016.png
Red Rad arrow within 4 bars so therefore sell trades only perfectly correct.
Eurusd 1Hr:
EURUSDH1 261016.png
Allready 4 trend arrows on the 1 hr T/frame. This t/frame is telling me that we have a possible upswing or retrace in progress. I also would have had buy trades from the trend arrows with my settings but as I started a bit late this afternoon buy trades opened only now. If the 1 hr starts showing sell arrow signals then all fine and back into the trend which is down afterall on Eurusd.

So I am trying a combo with 1hr and daily setting which will capture signals either way. This should or at least I hope curb draw down.

Will let you know on my progress.

Please feel free to ask questions.

Cheers
Leon

Leon,
How did you weather the JPY & USD plunge. I got up to 36 entries and had a DD of over $300 at 9% but 26 hours later the EA got me out with a $4 gain, apparently it took so long to close the 36 positions that the .05% ($15) was reduced to $4. :cheer: :yahoo:

That was unbelievable!!

Still running rene's ootb. I'll compare it to your set. You didn't seem to have the DD that I had, did you have hands on??? My results are from Oct 21, GMT 2 till now and still running, hands OFF. I'm going to also give H1 a shot, have you tried it Yet??

Rene, fantastic recovery !!
It was a demo but at 9% I would have held my ground with a live account, 2 ulcers later.

Best Of Luck
Ray

Yes, I know what you mean!

The market is not very 'trendy' this week, which makes life difficult for all trend following EAs. My demo also recovered, albeit with an EquityTP that dropped the balance by a few percent. It would be nice to conclude that GM always recovers from a drawdown -- but we can't be so certain. May be, if we were trading with smaller lot sizes ... It certainly requires more demo time, to be able to make any conclusions.

Hi Rene,

As a firm believer of treating fx trading business requiring deep pip pockets (pip can be cents or dollars) I have always made profits only from using variation of lots judiciously and planning pips margin in advance.

I am a discretionary trader and avid chart-watcher. However, because of my health issues I have to give it up for good and have shifted to using EAs. I see good potential for your this EA. However, I don't want to depend entirely on EA to take profits or increase/decrease lots.

If you can provide a simple multi-currency multi-positional equity account which can not only show the equity balance but also the breakeven balance , probable TP and SL points, it will help traders to manage risk efficiently.

I am attaching the indicator which is doing a good job of providing equity balance in real-time as well as break-even for each currency pair in the portfolio.

It is not providing the breakeven, stoploss and take profit points.

Suppose I have a portfolio with 0.3 lots long in EurUSd and 0.2 lots short in GBPUSD. If I were to calculate it manually, I will make a simple fixed calculation of EurUSD= minus 0.3 + GBPUSD= plus 0.2 and get summary equity of both positions and manage the two pairs as a single synthetic instrument.

If the indicator can pick up real-time positions from the live account and dynamically calculate treating all pairs in the account as a single synthetic instrument and print the single synthetic instrument's breakeven, stoploss and take profit on the chart as a text table that will help a trader decide on which pairs to use to increase or decrease lots to achieve the target of achieving profit or reducing break-even or cutting loss in case the EA is not acting as per the trader's view of direction.

Normally tough and instant decisions have to be made in times of strong trending and this visual aide will help a lot.
