Wavegarrick's HGI Trading

You talking about trading the Waves gave rise to something to throw into the mix.

My three SPB demos have been running pretty much from when Thomas and Rene developed their database. They make interesting reading. All started with an opening balance of $10,000, sending lot sizes of 0.01 as Thomas requested:
  • Basket TP of 50 pips: current balance $10,412
  • Basket TP of 500 pips: current balance $10,898
  • Basket TP of 10,000 pips: current balance $12,305

All are good, but the 10,000 pips is the runaway winner - and the profit would have doubled following my 0.01 lots per $4,000 of balance principle.

It might be worthwhile trying the same experiment here, now that you have Desky to do the donkey work for you.

Thanks Steve, it makes perfect sense :good:

Yes, running the two together can only work. If we have a drawdown period with slopey peaky Bob, Desky will take care of the drawdown with wave trades in the opposite direction and in this way I can run Peaky for the full course with a nice longer term target.

I am going to do some proper thinking over the weekend and will implement this on demo from monday. Hopefully by early next year I can go live with this.

Cheers

Just to add onto this. I only have 262 pips in profitable trades booked (closed) for the week. Monday and tuesday were winning days and so far today 102 pips in losing trades closed with an open basket of 1200 pips in profitable trades left on the table. Patience remains important, as long as I can see that the Ea is booking consistant profits. I don't mind losing days as long as my open basket remains reasonably constant but I try not to panic or be greedy, by closing all trades because I know that tomorrow it can come back and bite me. I say this because I am trading this live ;) ... Just some stuff to look at.

Anyway, Steve is coming up with some real cool stuff with the Tdesk trading drone and I would be really interested in multi trading fresh Tdesk signals.

Cheers
Leon
Yes i am observing the same with my demo, 1200 pips left on the table.

I just thought if let's say we cut basket at 1500 pips profit, and we wait for a fresh HGI setting for re-enter, or we wait a flip of stoch and rsi ?

Also, i have a question about the counter trend trades, i see very often : "order send failed" error : invalid stops", is that happen also to you ? I tried to modify the sl and tp, but it's the same results.

Thanks !

If you had cut the overall basket at 1500 pips you would wait for a fresh signal and the likelyhood is that the ea will open a trade on a fresh signal in the direction of the current signal, but if the ea is opening a trade towards the end of a wave you will sit with a trade that is going to give you losses. It is impossible to control if you are trading multiple pairs. The ea is dumb and it only does what we tell it to do. I wait for the signal to play out in the opposite direction before I let it close. It is my best chance at this point.
Also, i have a question about the counter trend trades, i see very often : "order send failed" error : invalid stops", is that happen also to you ? I tried to modify the sl and tp, but it's the same results.
There are no counter trend trades here as the Ea is only trading waves. I do not use stoplosses or take profits and let the ea close on opposite signals only. Your problem could only be if you are using tight stops and the ea is trying to place a stoploss too close to actual price as allowed by your broker.

Anyway on a positive note, this is how my overall basket looks and am happy to say that I have crept up to 85 pips profit for the day with a total of 415 pips for the week. My overall basket standing at 1100 pips and a good sign for me.

Cheers
Leon

Sorry but on the ea preset you share in setup exchange there's counter trend (it's activated by default on trading partner), that's why i think you used that.

Yes sorry for the counter trend thing, i modify my sl and tp and this time it works.

Thanks !

Edit : is it the results you have with the tdesk setup exchange ? Because if it's the case, i'm doing somethnig wrong, cause i'm not having this result.

Thanks again !

Edit again : i was wrong, in your ea preset there was not counter trend thing because it didn't exist at the time you give the presets.

Please can you give us an updated presets, so i will update the archive.

Thanks

It is worthwhile remembering that I tend to develop software with the latest thingy enabled by default. I am a deeply disorganised person and will mostly forget to disable stuff when I then release it.

This is a fault of mine but there is bugger-all I can do about it apart from perhaps making people aware of it.

I regard it as the responsibility of individual users to ensure that their set files reflect their preferences.

This next statement is not aimed at anyone here. It is merely a general statement. I could post it anywhere and maybe should start to do so.

Desky cannot be used successfully by lazy and/or thoughtless dimwits. Users MUST work stuff out for themselves.

Time to add that para to post 1 in our Desky thread.

Yes it is exactly the same as on Tdesk set up exchange
Thanks again !

Ok, I see where you are coming from. Unfortunately there is not much I can do when a Tdesk trading partner Ea version changes. It is important to ensure that all the new additions are set to false, because I am not using them yet unless I specify so in an update.

Here is my set to go with Steves latest version 2m:
TDesk Trading partner.set

I hope your results will line up with mine now.

I just added my caveat to Desky's post 1. I suggest that all involved read and inwardly digest it. I am not joking when I write it. Anyone here wants a supremely efficient organiser, hire an accountant.

Wavegarrick's HGI Trading

Post by Wavegarrick »

Hi Guys,

From my earlier days at SHF and following Nanningbob I believe there is something we can incorporate in our trading. In those days we used to trade monthly, weekly and daily open candles. It is somewhere in the archives under Nanningbob's forum, if you wish to look at it. Anyway, for those of you that have used the Rsi cross indicator you will see that it does just that with my period 2 setting. If a candle crosses the monthly, weekly, daily, hourly, 30 min and 15min timeframe close/open it will show a signal in the direction of the cross. My thought's are to use this in conjunction with Hgi or you dont need to. The choice is yours.

I have closed all my live trading accounts for the festive season. The reason I say this is because my history shows that I have blown most of my accounts in this time. The reason is simple. The markets are thin with wild swings and volatility leading up to new Year. I dread telling my wife that I need more money to fund my account in January. She will not be impressed after a Xmas where most of us tend to spend more :) I will use this time to trade new systems on demo and this is one of them.

I am using our all time favourite EurUsd as an example:

You will see that we are short from the monthly down to the daily timeframe. I am aware of the fact that we are in the peaky buy zone 4hrs 1682 candles ago and will switch my bias to long as soon as the monthly t/frame changes to green. For now I am testing the 15 min to the daily t/frame. The beauty of this is that we have a clear picture of all timeframes on one matrix and one chart.

Have a look at it and feel free to add suggestions.

Have a good weekend
Cheers
Leon
