This is an amazing indicator...so to recap, I can use it to confirm my trade entries...

If I see a reading like below...wouldn't dare to short GBP, but AUD, CAD are good candidate for shorts.

YES. I would expect GBP to angle some back at some point. Ukraine happy news for now should boost euro currencies over the short term.

I see the AUD and NZD to continue to downslide along with China's economic slowdown. The CAD may get some legs with the expected boost from the pipeline approval in the USA but that may be later.

Don't know about you folks, but I am short EURNZD.

This is a zero cross, so I wouldn't expect a huge move like 20 cross, but I think the short still looks good.

Sounds correct. EUR about to implode due to Greece. I took some good shorts on EUR overnight due to first round discussions over Greece failing. These were fundamental trades, not technical. The rest of this week will be very volatile for EUR and probably commodity currencies (if Greece implodes there will be flight to Gold and thus AUD/CAD will rally, possibly JPY too). I am very conservative with technicals at the moment.

NZD gaining massive strength: From 2/11 at -0.51 ---> currently at +0.20

And shorting EURNZD on 2/16(about 50pips drawdown) when crossed zero line is paying off...well, for now!

I've had good results with CSS, it's one of my main tools now.
I think it's a good idea to start trailing stops or partially exit trades when pairs overextend, or just avoiding taking trades when currencies shoot over/under 0.8/-0.8, or just waiting to take the reversal once both extremes angle back down/up.
Mad props to nanningbob!

I also am finding this an exciting tool Ivanlabrie. However I am using it as a longterm tool and using the weekly css chart to determine possible trades and just setting them and waiting. All is well so far, but only at the beginning right now, with most trades in decent profit, only GBP trades not cooperating. I do expect a turn around in those though soon so fingers crossed.

I have included a pic of what I am doing and the only question is when to close trades. Trailing stop is not good for me as I don't leave my laptop on continuously, but will have to see if something jumps out on the css to let me get out with a decent profit. I am only setting one trade per chart right now and will want to see about getting in more trades as I go on.

Any comments are welcome.

Looks good, you could further perfect this sytem by using some rules regarding money management and when to take trades or exit them.

Example:

In my experience, it's best to take the crosses and when a currency is constantly trending up from being overextended down, and viceversa. Say the yen, it was the lowest in CSS readings for ages and it's now strongly surging, so I'm focused on buying yen vs weaker currencies and let them breathe when they overextend down on the daily like the euro and chf now.

Hold until your currencies go past 0.7/-0.7, then start trailing stops at the 3 day or 3 week low/high depending on if it's a short or long.

If you were wrong, you can exit at a 5-10% loss, and try to go for recovery trades while not hitting that mark.

Hi Ivanlabrea

Yes I have realised that the crosses are the important incidents and going forward those will be the dominant trades for me. Also like you say the JPY is moving nicely on the weekly and is doing well for me. I did take NZDJPY and GBPJPY and closed for a loss on NZDJPY and I notice on the 4hr that NZD has shot up sharply. Whether it is to come back down again I am not sure and could have left it open. But on the weekly NZD is flat and turning slightly up so probably good I closed it.
Not sure about trading crosses at extreme lows and highs. I did however take the buy usdchf for obvious reasons. I did not consider the EURCAD sell or EURAUD sell, but they might have been OK...All things for the future, right now I need to consider the management, like you say, and the addition of trades into a winning direction.

Will try to keep updating here as I go on.

You will need to look at the weekly chart at least, to place some HGI based RAD scale ins at least, and tp based on cssdiff or normal CSS.

I suggest looking at the extremes, not the crosses near an extreme, but say cad is at -1 and usd is at 1, once usd moves lower and cad starts moving higher, start looking for a short usdcad position. This will be corrections, normally, until the trend does reverse, but that would imply a cross eventually. If say usd, starts moving back down, I wouldn't take usd strength based positions, and would consider trailing stops in usd strength based trades.
