Hi Zennor and Gertje
Hehehehe :jump:
You beat me to it.
Just set it up similarly last week as I thought that a fixed grid-distance would not be in favor of low volatile pairs.
Bloody sleep...just woke up to find that you guys are 2 steps ahead of me
After my conversation with Gertje on the POS tread I was also thinking about setting grid size dependent on the ATR of each pair.
I will also start experimenting with this idea
Cheers Richard

Demo account has also done well with 2 baskets closing after the recent CAD drawdown. Onwards and upwards.

Demo Account
Hi Zennor

Are you running this account on the FXTestify database?

Cheers Richard

Everything else OOTB? May experiment with variable grid, but would appreciate any insights on the TP aspect of your method

Gertje good to know that you are also thinking along the same lines. I have also used the positive swap feature to reduce the number of trades as having smaller grids would hugely increase the number of trades. If that works as it has then I'll keep it like that but due to the feature-rich nature of the EA there is more I can do to further reduce the number of trades should it warrant it.

Demo account yes in the database as those settings are set in stone.

Live account not at the moment because those settings are not set in stone at the moment but will add once I am happy with the settings.

Due to the nature of the trading, the TP on the Demo Account is very low at £1 per £200 (£5 per £1,000 Dollop of cash)
Live account due to its smallish stature is £0.50 per £200 (£2.50 per £1,000 Dollop of cash)

Despite this low figure when there is a strong trend in the majority of currencies like yesterday you will get quite a few closed baskets. My live account yesterday made 2.22% in one day which is more than you will get from a bank in a year... :hi:

Paul, you are a modest man so I do not expect you to understand what a thrill it gives me to read your post. You are one of a tiny group of Elite contributors here. This group makes SHF the force it is. Your programming skills are epic and make me feel like the worm that I really am. Knowing that you have made some cash from my use of your fantastic work is just out of this world for me. It is my 67th birthday today. Your post is one of the best birthday presents I have ever received.

Well done Baluda.

Happy birthday Steve...

Hi guys, I am an old Italian SHF member. Sorry for my english, I'll try to be brief.
Started trading 10 years ago. Right off the bat a huge short bet on Oil when it was 130/140. Got stopped out at I think 143 that was basically the ultimate high... then it went in the hole. It would have been a little fortune... Anyway it was simply my first margin call. I was (and prolly still am) a bit of a gambler. Lived 3 years of my life only by playing professional poker... (I am also an engineer and a MBA, but you know these stuff are of little help here).
Anyway, took the hit and tried to trade more professionally. Tried various things, and exotic solutions, i.e news trading with Dustin Pass software that was "auto-clicking" the but/sell button when the news come... then eventually joined this site 6 years ago. Followed Nanningbob ideas development. Traded more, but lost again. So I stopped trading, but continued to regularly follow this site. Only this one. Because this is the only serious place I have found on the web after lot of search.

-- And by the way, newcomers, trust someone that is following these guys from a long long time. These guys are absolute gold. Steve is totally right when he says that you are the luckiest newcomers in forex to have stumbled upon this site    --

So I waited for things to consolidate here at SHF, in my life, and in my bank account too
And waited to post here following the rule "dont say anything if you have nothing interesting to say".

Now I think you are onto something really good with SPB. I studied it, evaluated and tested it last 4 weeks with 100 euros :o I had left in my GP account and it managed to do good things, reached 200, even if it was this short on margin, then encountered a nice drawdown that forced me to manually close some positions, than it went back in green. So great results so far. And the logic and implementation is something very close to the thing I was looking for since I joined Forex.
And I am also able to put some money on the table now (I know it is lame, but I just cant demotest, I have to be live), so some days ago I deposited 5K euro on my old GP account and today they were added to it.

I started SPB today friday morning at 2:00 AM with basic settings (1250 dollpus, ATR divider set at 4, and dyn basket cash profit at 30).
In the afternoon SPB closed its first basket, profiting 120 euros (0.04 positions x 30) and is now flat for the week-end. Lucky, I know...
For the next week I plan to raise dollops requirements to 1500 (or even more if you suggest) and lower ATR divider to 3.5 to reduce global risk. I am not using filters at the moment.

I hope you could be interested in this experiment. Last thing. I would happily participate at the coordinated test effort, it is such a precious thing! But I suspect that I will need to tweak variables a bit in the future so probably I'am not the best candidate for it. I could particpate with a demo account if you think it could be useful. Anyway, for sure I am a good candidate for a pianodoodler donation!!!

To finish, many many thanks and compliments to Steve and all the brains here. Your work is astonishing and the way all the thing is managed is superb.

(Wow it was a long effort :uff: , hope you enjoyed it!)

PPS. Happy birthday Steve!!!! :hi:

Hi.

Yeah. I tried that also for quite a while. That was funny and exciting. But barely made some money.

Cheers

In reality, live trading is the only way to test both a strategy and our appetite for risk. Demo trading is too easy.
For the next week I plan to raise dollops requirements to 1500 (or even more if you suggest) and lower ATR divider to 3.5 to reduce global risk. I am not using filters at the moment.
I trade 0.01 lots per dollop of $4,000. This means that a starter account with the minimum deposit of $500 will not increase the lot size until the balance reaches $8,000. Experience with Gareth's account has shown me that this affords a reasonable degree of safety on sub-$1,000 accounts. The comfort level increases rapidly once the account reaches $1,000 and then just gets better and better from there on.

I always thought exactly this.

Yes, I know. I planned to use 4000 for larger balances. It would be tough on 5k...
What could be a reasonable safe minimum? (considering that I would obviously not be happy to be margin called but it would certainly not be the end of the world. The only real pain would be the unsuccess of the system).
I know it is the mother of all questions but hey, better than asking lame stuff no? ;)
