At that point, it should be clear that the trend is continuing and it is time to go short.

Hi Cmeade2 and thank you for sharing your trading method. Just a quick question though (probably dumb as well). The slope of slope indi you are using, is it the one which was posted on Gary's "slope level or direction" thread ?

Cheers,

No it's Neo's version which is posted on the first page of his forum. It's called "NT TMATrueSlopeHisto MTF"

cmeade - your posts made me drag out my RSI(3) (which I often use as short-term direction finder) applied to H1....

I am testing to use the same (H1) or next higher TF (H4) as trend indicator (most currencies are presently not trending on D1!), standard 80/20 level, when in uptrend-buy on 20 cross upwards only, when in downtrend-sell on 80 cross down - no sl / tp 10-15 pips....

Will see how it goes, 4 manual orders today all closed for 40 pips total.... Steve's time permitting, he might be willing to cobble a quick and dirty EA together for this (hint!)

Thanks for sharing - have a great weekend everybody

It definitely works on longer time frames like H1 and H4 just as well as M15. And RSI(3) is probably a good bet too, though I prefer RSI(2). My only comment is that I think it's pretty risky to do a simple buy/sell on the cross of 80/20. There's no doubt that sometimes this is a successful play, but sometimes it's not. Basically there is an instant reversal. To address this, I think that a little more information is needed. Specifically what is the level of the TMA slope on the relevant time frame. And where are the TMA slopes in relation to the MA's (i.e., Neo's set up with the M15, H1, and H4). If 2 or more of them have crossed, then the setup that you describe can be VERY successful it it's in the same direction.

Baluda, thank you very much for all the awesome indies.
just wondering if there is tiny chance you could implement addSundayToMonday input into your "TMA Slope MTF v.1.0.0" (post 2)? Currently it calculates the slope values based on 6 daily bars per week. This functionality was already implemented in "SlopeValues" but TMA Slope MTF v.1.0.0" was not updated.
Thank you
Nik

Hi, Baluda, thanks for the great indicator!

I read the currency slope strength code and found:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
if(counted_bars > 0) counted_bars -= 10;
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

then
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
limit = Bars - counted_bars;
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

this "limit" will be used as "shift" in all following TMA/slope calculation

why would the indicator focus on the 10 bars ago instead of the current bar?

this may be a stupid question, but I've spent a while and cannot get sure. thanks.

I have a question to the TMA slope MTF: Shouldn't the TMA values be the same no matter on what TF chart I apply the indi? Currently the H1 value changes depending on the chart TF.

Hi,

Some time ago you did a version of the Ichimoku EA. Now I was wondering if you have considered a marriage between your suite of TMA indicators and the Ichimoku

Perhaps the lines crosses in the Ichimoku could have more pertinence when coupled with the faster moving TMA values e.g Senkou breakouts above TMA true > 0.8.

That may make a neat little market overview :ugeek:
