Actually, thinking about it, isn't it more or less equivalent to using the jumping stop set to that amount? I'll have to sit down and work through a couple of scenario examples to see the exact difference.

I think they mean it opens the trade again because the conditions are still valid. I don´t think this is a code problem. The EA is doing what it is supposed to.

I actually think this is a plus. For example, I am trying out a TP of 22 pips (20 pips plus spread). On trend trades, it pockets the 20 pips and opens the trade again. As the trend continues it keeps putting away the additional 20 pips, so you can´t lose them as is the case in a retracement and a larger TP. Sometimes, when you get a retracement, it will reenter the trade and you can make the 20 pips all over again. It´s pretty cool.[/quote]

You are very correct, I tried the same with version 1.3 when I found out that the EA re-open trade if the signal is still valid and in order to overcome getting 10pips after the trade as moved over 50 pips, I changed my TP to 25 pips including spread, my risk to 4% and I observed that this setting made 17% in 5 days while the one with the normal setting with 4% risk made 8%. Based on my findings and the idea behind one of the commercial EA that I was trading with, I sent a PM to al3xx; I hope he will take a look at it and see if he can make some thing out of it to get a combo EA that will always hunt down pips irrespective of the market condition.

Thank you al3xx and every member of the family.

No, not quite. With the jumping stop you´ll always lose the last 30 or 40 pips when you get stopped out. Also, many times price will move 20 pips with not enough room for the jumping stop to be placed and then retrace to breakeven or worse. Another frequent ocurrence is price coming back repeatedly to test the pivot before finally moving on and starting the trend. It´s nice to pick up pips on those tests. Once a trend is established and after the first 20 pip trade is closed, I set my stop on the next trade and all subsequent trades at 20 pips and keep exiting at 22 pip TP. Of course, this would be difficult to execute manually, but the EA does it for you so it´s a win - win.

Ah yes, I see. Any chance you could post a setfile alorente?

Hi all,
I am testing NB since several weeks an a demo account. Version 1.0 till 1.2 worked very well. No losses. Since I installed version 1.3 and 1.3a most trades went into losses. The ea byes when the trend goes down and sells when the trend goes up. Very strange. I use OOTB settings and autocal magic number. I use 15 pairs an a single instance. Have someone the same strange appearance. Or what is the reason.
Regards
Alexander

Hi Alexander,
that's probably because Daily ATR(5) stops are tighter than fixed 200 pips in most cases.
EA may seem to go "the wrong" way, but please remember it follows weekly trend - you need to give it some time to go "the right" way. However, there are obstacles on the way - euro declined against usd this week on dissapointing global data, there is still some room for downward continuation and my EU long (opened on Monday the 17th) is under severe pressure.

Edit: I've just checked myfxbook - eurusd long got stopped @ 200 pips :(

Hi 4xtn,
you may be right, as the Daily ATR(5) stop is a new feature. I will be patient and give it a chance. By the way I am a newbee in this business. Thank you for your efforts.

Cuz,

The offense mentioned occurred between 2012.09.13 16:33 to 2012.09.13 16:42. There were 205 consecutive trades before I could stop it. Unfortunately the logs were reset while I was shutting down the system. Cowboy IBFX mini live account (I need the pressure to evaluate with honesty!).
See attachment below.

is it possible to have a screen pic of the offending ea showing the verbose on the left side, and possibly a set file.
also, if you manage to look up the 'expert' tab or 'journal' if anything abnormal was showing. Sometimes you would get an error, or was it a normal condition where the ea would buy and sell as if it were meant to do that.

the abovementioned would give al3xx and anyone troubleshooting this a better idea.
I thought those days were over for this ea and i'd like to take a look at this myself. maybe i can re-create the problem.

you might not be infront of your screen when it happens but it would be helpfull if you could catch this info.

thanks,
cuzgeorge

The issue of trades jumping in one after the other, has been mentioned before. One way to go round it would be to code a "SLEEP" function within the EA, thus allowing the system to "rest" for x mins after a profitable trade

I just think that we would be getting same results even if we were using 1.2 version. Have a look at the charts and see what happened. We had some strong reversals after we had some nice trends.
We just have to know that market conditions will change and this is why we forward test EAs.

There are a couple of options you could have, start recovery on your trades, or have a filter so that the EA won't get on the same position after exit.
