Nothing fancy in setfile, it's running on V1f on M5 charts with 15 pips between trades. Emergency SL 200 pips. No dashboard or other bells and whistles.

After developing a considerable floating loss pretty quickly it has been kind of stable since then, but the floating loss stays constantly around 500€. It runs fully automatic, no manual intervention.
I will let it run and see what happens in the future.

Hi All

I have been running HGBCandlePower since Aug-Sept2017 (EURUSD, GBPJPY only). I believe it was TJFs original setfile, but I have attached my setfile anyway.

Great results with 14% return on a $10k account (trading 0.01 lots) (International Capital Pty Ltd Demo)

There has been a 'scarily' large difference in the number of BUYs to SELLs at times, along with significant DD (right now I have 15BUYS to 1SELL on GBPJPY)

However with patience it keeps chugging along...

Cheers Richard

Hi Steve

The results I posted are for a Demo account (the 15BUYS to 1SELL GJ is current as of today but generally there is a large offset between BUYS and SELLS)

I did run a Live GP account a few months ago with the same setup. However, almost straight away there was a large trend run, the difference in BUYs to SELLs got very high on both GJ and EU (DD was also high) and I got scared of seeing all my funds vanish so pulled the pin at a reasonable loss.....looking at the demo results if I had held my nerve I would have been fine this time. Live and learn

I know exactly how you feel, and the difference in between trading live and on demo is why I asked.

Folks, when it comes down to it, demo accounts are for playing around. OK, so GP demo feeds are the same as their live ones and I warmly applaud them for that.

Fact is though, that we can blow demo accounts for fun. We can watch them go near a margin call and then recover to go on and make gazillions. Or blow up tomorrow.

It does not matter to us apart from our pride and our hope to trade successfully in the future.

I post lots of demo results here at SHF. They are irrelevant and merely show the progress of a bot on a demo account. They give us a brief glimpse of hope into the future. I even occasionally post some live trading results. I am not sure that any of this helps anyone here. You guys need to learn to trade for yourselves.

This will not stop me from chasing my own personal Holt Grail. I keep on working towards it.

Thanks for your words of encouragement Steve.

As an additional note: In hindsight, even running 2 pairs (0.01 lots) was too greedy (e.g. 2 x 15 offset open orders at 0.01 is 0.3 Lots - that's a lot of skin in the game and things move very quickly then). I would have been better testing my live setup with just one pair (probably GJ), hopefully keeping the DD at a reasonable level and getting more experience with how the EA trades live. Then I could have added more pairs as the equity increased

I too have confidence that we are getting closer to a profitable EA. With Steve at the helm and the likes of Thomas, Rene, Leon and TJF to name a few, this is a formidable team

Cheers Richard

There are numerous profitable EA's around at SHF, the problem is that 'we' don't have pockets deep enough to run these.

If I had $100K to deposit, I could take my pick out of the EA's offered, and quit working.
The thing is, how to get to the $100K mark without getting burned...

With $2K deposit, making 0.5% every day, it takes 3 years.
3 years of agony and pain,
3 years of looking at the account growing,
3 years of looking at the account accumulating DD,
3 years of hairpulling,
3 years of sleepless night,
3 years of waking up at night and scrambling to the PC to look at the results,
and than after 3 years, after becoming a shadow of one-selves, you are ready for retyrement. Not justs financially, but for sure fysically and mentally......

Hi Gertje

I hear what you are saying but would you risk depositing $100k on the Empty4 platform?

I know I wouldn't

Cheers Richard

Not depositing, but what if you got there by trading?
Thereby using funds you can afford to loose?

That's the hard part.
If we let the multipair EA's run freely then drawdown will probably kill the account.
If we restrict the EA then the profit will not be sufficient so we will need to have a bigger size account.

I don't have a problem opening a larger account but I'm not comfortable with any of the EA's I have played with so far. Having said that, I'm now getting somewhere with the Awesome EA and the POS has good potential too but in my opinion both EA's need changes before they can be used in a live account.

We have to reduce draw down but to do it in a way where we don't restrict profits too much.
Restricting the number of pairs is not great either, it may be better to use as many pairs as possible and to prevent over-trading and over-exposure to a particular currency using the Zejiko+onlyTradeTwice filter (or a modified version of them).
