garyfritz wrote:spot, I think the JSL works OK, especially with the changes Steve made recently. It starts out at the AdaptiveBreakEvenProfitPipsLock level (which was why I said that's the initial JSL setting, but you replied before I made that edit), then it stays between 1* and 2*AdaptiveJumpingStopPips below the max PipsUpl. So with the settings I posted and 1 open pair, the JSL is always 5-10 pips behind the max open profit. 5-10 would be pretty tight for a single pair, but the aggregated basket position should in theory be less noisy. If 5-10 is too tight for you, use a larger AdaptiveJumpingStopPips, but as you say that means there are fewer jumps. With AdaptiveJumpingStopPips = 7 it would jump to 9 (for 1 open pair), 16, 23, and then you hit the TP at 30.
Thanks Gary - I understand - I guess time will tell if 5-10 pips per pair is too tight or not. My gut tells me that 25 pips on a 5 basket trade isn't much but we'll see. It can always be addressed later if it's an issue I guess.

Cheers,
Dave.

What are your settings/ I just started running it and I'm down over 250 pips and they all are losers. I must be doing something wrong the law of averages can't be that crual.

Hey, I have just been using the settings in post 1 haven't changed anything..I would post my setfile and version number but I'm at work at the moment. I have a monthly goal of 10% so I have just been closing the basket manually by gut feeling when it's in profit by 100-200 pips. I just run it once per day at the London open which is BST or GMT+1.
It depends on your £ targets I guess and account size, but 10% a month for me is enough on my main account that I propose to run this on with same 0.1 lot size. I will (try) and turn it off for the month once I have reached this goal. :D No need to trade anything else..Simples!

I will try the setting that Cytek kindly posted a few posts back and see if it reduces the risk with the same results.

When you pull the trigger is pretty important ;)

Lots of ideas have been put forward here so the best thing is probably to just read through the thread.

As usual.

Nice. What time are you opening the basket? (in GMT please, if you can).
Sure. At Frankfurt open, 8h00 ( GMT +2 I think)

From Post 1A gem from Bob:

Basket close hours
I picked up this little gem from http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread. ... ost5661628

"I found this out. The best time to TP was 2-3 hours into the jpy session. 1-2 hours before the usd session, 3-4 hours into the usd session and then if there is anything left a couple of hours before the jpy session. These seem to be the peak times for price movement and then afterwards a holding pattern or retracement

I have noticed that when (e.g. for longs) the D1 TMA slope is above 0.8 and Woh 2x1 is green, it seems to be possible to filter out most of the retracement moves by looking at the Woh 1x0 on the D1 chart and not taking the trade when D1 Woh 1x0 is red (for longs).
In other words for longs (and conversely for shorts), even if slope is > 0.8 and woh 2x1 is green, Shelley should not open trades for pairs for which D1 Woh 1x0 is red.
Anyone with the same analysis?
Cheers

Hi Vivaldi,
See my post link below in response to a similar question from Armen. Shout if that doesn't answer it and maybe i missed something specific you were after.
Thanks. http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 242#p14242

Thank you Cytek, I found it.

Hallo traderduke,
Are your times GMT in those negative results ? My advise would be :

If this is GMT, I think it is too late in the evening to start a basket. You should start it in the morning and stop a few hours after NY opening.

D1 Woh 1x0 is red means : The current price is below the Open of the Day.
Could you confirm to me if this is correct ? Where do I find the background theory about Woh ?
