I think this would be a good solution.

I think this would not be a good solution if you choose to take advantage of the trade re-entry power of the EA. I have forward test 25 pips profit target and it has worked perfectly by re-entering trade after taking 25 pips profit, try it and you will love it.

Hi Pat

Can you attach your setfile for one of your successful pairs.
I'm trying your idea of 25 pips profit, but not much success

Thanks
Pat

Pat and Pat, :D
Watch the spread and volatility guys.
You''ll find that way of trading needs space to breathe too, so if you use a high spread pair, you're stabbing yourself in the leg before you get going.
I prefer to trade pairs that trend smoother, like usdcad or eurgbp, but their spreads are killer. I use the same method but open up the pips, according to my crims' spread. i still get caught out by whipsaws, but the ea takes the positions again, and if it does'nt well then the trend has changed. 8-)

I dont want to suggest a size as this is really something you must practice yourselves and it greatly depends on the crim. Not all spreads are equal crim to crim.

I'm also considering opening my general BE settings from 20/10 to more like 30'ish for the same reason. Whipsaws.
hope this info helps,
cuzgeorge

Echo that - a set file from Patways or Alorente would be really interesting.

Hi Freereed,

I made the changes in the code directly, I have attached the v1.3, it's the same I only change the setting to what is working for me based on my trading style. you may just look in to the setting and effect the changes on the same v1.3 that you have on your chart. 8-)

alorente wrote: I think they mean it opens the trade again because the conditions are still valid. I don´t think this is a code problem. The EA is doing what it is supposed to.

I actually think this is a plus. For example, I am trying out a TP of 22 pips (20 pips plus spread). On trend trades, it pockets the 20 pips and opens the trade again. As the trend continues it keeps putting away the additional 20 pips, so you can´t lose them as is the case in a retracement and a larger TP. Sometimes, when you get a retracement, it will reenter the trade and you can make the 20 pips all over again. It´s pretty cool.
I have in the past weeks seen that the observation from Nanningbob quoted below and also in the EA's last lines (as comments) holds true almost all the time once you get a good trade going...
I found this out. The best time to TP was 2-3 hours into the jpy session. 1-2 hours before the usd session,
3-4 hours into the usd session and then if there is anything left a couple of hours before the jpy session.
These seem to be the peak times for price movement and then afterwards a holding pattern or retracement.
Price moves 50-70+ pips or more in these 'peaks' and then does a retrace that turns winners to breakevens or worse depending on your BE/TS/JS settings. Then, after the retrace, the move continues and the EA will ofcourse get you in. I was looking at the daily pivot S1 or S2 on some pairs and it looks like it is getting hit most times in these peaks. Is it really?

I happen to be infront of my screens most days "1-2 hours before the usd session, 3-4 hours into the usd session" and I can close the trades manually but am trying to figure a good way to do this on some indicator.

Kind Regards,

Alex

In other news, I have been playing all week long with the TMATrueSlope and instead of 0.4/0.8 we now have 0.3/0.6. Those who follow the evolution of the manual system will know where that came from.

I find that it helps a lot when you want to eye-ball the chart and see historically what price did in relation to the TMA Slope.

On my chart, I load the TMATrueSlope indicator. Many thanks to NeoTrader. Then the EA should trade along those lines. We should also thank Paul (Baluda) for the original TMA true slope magic that is in-house in the EA.

I will attach this version here as limited release for the brave souls. Finally it should make it's way to page 1 as version 1.4.

In any case, you can always turn off the TMATrueSlope thingy by setting UseTMATrueSlope false.
Note that you will have to set SlopeLevel1 and SlopeLevel2 to the right values too if you change the value of UseTMATrueSlope. Default for UseTMATrueSlope is true. Then SlopeLevel1 is 0.3 and SlopeLevel2 is 0.6. The EA should take care of the negatives and positives.

Set SlopeLevel1 to 0.4 and SlopeLevel2 to 0.8 if you set UseTMATrueSlope false.

Take care to set all the other settings. What is there is probably wacky.

Kind Regards,

Alex

4xtn wrote:Hello fellow traders,

I note there are many ideas regarding exits – which is fantastic – however I’d like to bring your attention to entries – perhaps they can be improved just a tiny little bit ;)

I’m talking about H4/D1 trend trades. Bob came up with his update in June and he suggested we scrap blue MA and use daily pivot instead. For those who missed it - I attach his update.

I had a look at my NB Autotrader 10.2 v1.2 trades: all profitable except for AUDUSD, NZDUSD shorts & EURNZD long – all of them went straight to SL 200 pips after AUD rally Sep-7. That’s fair enough – one could say – you can’t win all the time. However, had EA entered into the trade off daily pivot, rather than blue MA, there would have been enough room for 50pip BE to kick in and close @ 10 pips profit.

My suggestion for H4/D1 trend trades:

LONG:
- H4 Slope is >= 0.4
- H4 Woh is green (i.e. > 0)
- there is a cross upwards of daily pivot
- price is above monthly pivot
- price is above weekly pivot
SHORT:
- H4 Slope is <= -0.4
- H4 Woh is orange (i.e. < 0)
- there is a cross downwards of daily pivot
- price is below monthly pivot
- price is below weekly pivot

***‘EnforcePricePivotIntegrity’ - turn the price above/below monthly and weekly pivots filter off by setting it to 'false'

What do you guys think?
I like your suggestion. There will be less trades, but a higher percentage will be profitable. My vote is yes on the change.
Very interesting because I have been toying up with the idea to upgrade to 10.2A. I noticed only yesterday that Steve has a Shell EA here http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... f=44&t=802 that would make it a breeze for a new EA but merging 10.2 into that would, I imagine, be a little complicated. We will have to see. I am checking out Steve's 10.2A shell, but I agree this should be the way to go. Really appreciate the input from all you experienced guys :)
