I have updated Post 1 of this thread with new versions of GridMaster and HGIDancer:

GridMasterv1.81: Fixes a bug that prevented the EA from sending a Rinse-n-Repeat if/when the total profit of all open trades combined reaches the set BasketProfit.

HGIDancerv1.3: Has an added Currency Exposure filter. If the new parameter UseCurrencyExposureFilter has been set to true, GD will only open a new trade if by adding that new trade the given MaxCurrencyExposure is not exceeded. So, the logic works like this:

If a new grid level has been reached ==>
  • Check most recent HGI signal (can be: BUY, SELL or nothing)
  • If HGI-signal == BUY and there is no open BUY at this level and a new BUY does not exceed currency exposure ==> Open BUY
  • else if HGI-signal == SELL and there is no open SELL at this level and a new SELL does not exceed currency exposure ==> Open SELL
The currency exposure is a global thing: eg. the exposure of the USD is determined by all pairs that have USD in their name. As each HGIDancer is operating independently of each other, on a separate thread, it is in theory possible that two (or more) HGIDancer's reach a new grid level at exactly the same time, and determine at that same time that the currency exposure (for a particular currency) has not yet been exceeded and therefore open a trade at the same time, thereby exceeding the currencies' exposure. Although the chances for this to happen are remote, I have added a mutex to avoid this eventuality.

From what I've seen so far whilst testing this currency exposure filter, the drawdown has been very limited (Mind you, this is only after 1.5 days, after the US elections. We really need another brexit or US election, to test this properly). See my results from this new demo:

Hi Rene,

Many thanks for your efforts. I am restarting with your new version and larger balance to fight big DD :D

May I request to add EA log whenever the GridMaster closes the trades along with the closure reason like closing by BasketProfit, EquityTP, or MinProfit? It would be helpful to analyze how and when the parameters kick in.

Thanks a lot for this Ea it has unbelievable potential. I think your idea to limit the currency is great but the “MaxCurrencyExposure” number is unclear to me(.2). Can you look at my chart and relate the number to it??

MaxCurrencyExposure relates to open trades. The way it is calculated is explained in this thread. If, eg. the Currency Exposure of USD is currently +0.20, and MaxCurrencyExposure has been set to 0.20, it won't open another "BUY 0.05 lots of USDCAD" trade, as that would bring the Currency Exposure for USD to +0.25. However, it can open a "BUY 0.05 lots of GBPUSD" trade, as this would reduce the Currency Exposure for USD to +0.15.

Here are my end of week results of my new demo, that I started on the 10th of November:

6% balance increase with only 1% drawdown is a very encouraging result. However, this performance needs to continue for at least one month before I would consider to let GM/GD touch any of my real money.

Hello Rene,

Thanks for the latest posts and the new additions to the EA.

After my failure on this demos:

I re-started some new demos with a slightly tweaked approach:

- GridATR distance increased from 0.12 to 0.2 (to make it safer)
- "MinProfit" Closures to $1 (using 0.01) lots, which equates to roughly 10 PIPS. -> (I was previously using LARGER mini-closures)
- Equity TP's of 6-8X "minprofit" to get Rinses quite often.

It's only been one day, but these demos are off to a great start.

My next step has been to introduce a couple of more demos with very tight "Minprofit" (=1), but with different variations of EQUITYTP (one larger, one smaller) to see how they compare.

WIth the new release, I will add an additional extra demo as per my demo "1G" with the only difference in the CurrencyFilter, to see how that compares as well.

I just want to say that I applaud your efforts to experiment with the settings -- there are not many parameters but yet they can have a huge impact on the performance of this combo. If we would all run this OOTB we would not learn anything new. So, keep experimenting and let us know what your results are.
