Hi Dentiok, So that I can make a sensible judgement can you tell me what pair your trading, the MA periods and the order of the MTF's top down, please. Allonso |

Hi Dentiok, I am guessing that your MA periods are 13 but from your picture I would have taken the H1 moving above the MA as a warning that something was about to change. Also the H4 and the M15 are approaching their MA's, so I would have closed the trade. Better a small profit/loss than holding on for hours for maybe a little more profit. Also I close trades with no reference to when a bar closes. I don't know where you trade from although you are using a Cowboy IBFX Australian Demo, its not important but as you know I do not trade the night time hours. I am curious though as to why you entered a trade after the signals had been given some time previous. The H4 had signalled a downward trend sometime before as had the H1 and M15, also the H4 had dipped down indicating an increase in trend strength about 11 bars before you entered, with the H1 following H4 down after 8 bars. Note that the M15 was above the MA but I take less notice of this one as it often lags the price movement as in this case. Had you taken the trade a little earlier you could have made a decent 25pips. I have attached a chart of my platform with yours superiposed so that you can see a comparison, you will also notice that I have 13 Period Bollinger bands and the fact that the candle moved back inside the lower band was an extra conformation to me that the volitility was reducing and it was time to exit the trade. I hope that my analysis helps you, but if you have questions please ask. Regards Allonso |

Hi Dentiok, Glad it was of some help. As very few if any bother to post on this thread, I was wondering whether you would be willing to post your trades, thats if you are using Neotraders MTF indicator. I think that Neotrader must be well and truly brassed off that his indicators are being ignored by the majority. It takes a lot of work and thought to develop an indicator of the MTF type and to know that it works, and that some are trading successfully with it, must give him some satisfaction. I am hoping that he will return and add his own trading knowledge to the thread. Just to start the ball rolling here are two live spreadbet trades I took Friday 7th on M15 tf: 1. Dow Jones: Signal given at 1.0 pm GMT Closed for gain of 93 Pips. 2. EUR/USD: Signal given at 3.15 pm GMT Closed for gain of 32 Pips. If you think this a good idea I hope that you will post, and that it will encourage others also to take part Regards Allonso |

Hi Dentiok, No this is just a bad explaination by me, I was already in a Sell trade at 09.00 hrs as shown on that chart (First majenta line). So what I was refering to was that I sold (meaning closed the trade)(Second majenta line) as the opposite to Buy. The signal was an exit one, although I tend to use Bollinger bands in combination to judge my exits. If you look at it again you will see my trade entry and exit. What do you think of the idea to post trades as I asked in my last post. Allonso |

Allonso, thanks for the explanation, as you can see, I'm very excited about this strategy and you and NT have inspired me. I'm finishing the process of study, review and analysis in the charts. I decided to start soon, meaning that I like your idea of publishing experience and I will. I have not 100% understood (still) the concept of spreadbeating, since 50% or more of (any) strategy is MM and I must adapt to this system to get comfortable and begin to trade. If you have some other tips regarding MM would greatly appreciate it. Best Regards |

Hi Dentiok, I totally agree that MM is very important so much so that if you don't have a strategy for MM, you should not be trading. Also very important, never trade with money you can't afford to lose. In the early days when I started Spreadbetting, I very much traded off the seat of my pants and consequently lost my stake a number of times. That forced me to write down what I was trying to achieve and to try and find the best way I could to minimise my risk. I still did not have a consistant trading strategy and so I still made money and also lost some with the end result that I was ending up about evens. Neotraders MTF's gave me what I consider to be the best system and most consistant I have found for manualy trading the 15M tf. With my own system of MM, my account is now growing at a nice rate. What I did was to produce a spreadsheet that calculated the amount I could bet based on my capital. So if my starting capital was say 250 £stg or $A, or whatever currency you trade in, then I only allowed myself to bet 1/500 of that starting capital and also of the running amount that should acrue from successful trades. So 250/500 = 0.5, this had to be rounded up to 1 as bets are usualy in whole numbers. You can see that the bet size will not increase to 2 until the running capital reaches 1000.The way I viewed it was that in order to blow my stake I would have to take a loss of 500 pips except for the bets between 0.5 and 1, where at 0.5 you would be betting 1 which is twice the amount the calculation gives before rounding, so the risk would be a loss of 250 pips not 500. But once above 1 the risk is always 1/500 of the running capital.I have attached a text file of how my spreadsheet is layed out, just to give you an idea. I can't forward you a copy as it is in Lotus not Excel, I'm not very good at excel. Today I made my last trade until New Year, another welcome 29pips. I decided to follow Steve and Nanningbobs example, and anyway I have a lot to do in between times. Hope this is of some help. Regards Allonso Just saw your PM and yaes I would be interested to see what you have developed. My email address is oldoldboy@gmx.com |
