I want to share a recent experience I had with my criminal, which is FXCM build 765 in the U.S.A., in the hopes that it might give some insight to others or at least some entertainment. I was trading HGB and had two short positions open on GBPUSD and the criminal was continuously modifying the TP every few seconds. So, I'm watching the TP line on the chart go up and down, up and down. I discovered the problem was with my criminal, not with HGB. After removing HGB from the chart, I tried to manually set the TP and discovered that if I changed the TP or the SL for one position, the criminal would automatically change it the same for the other position as well. This is something new to me. I can only guess that FXCM decided that instead of sending back rejections based on the FIFO rule they would simplify it for themselves and make all positions in the same currency have the same TP and the same SL. So WTF do I do now? My only solution is to trade one position on each currency pair and that's where I'm at now. We'll see how that goes. :shock:

This is precisely why I've been looking to get the 'stealth' function in HGB operative as it hides the stops and limits from FXCM so they aren't 'netted' (which is what they call this). I'm currently searching for a US Broker that doesn't net multiple Empty4 trades in the same pair- going to road test Oanda and will let you know how it goes. This does NOT, however, solve the US broker problem with rejecting an 'all close' order because it's not FIFO compliant, although Oanda did tell me in chat that a stop or limit will take precedence over FIFO- not entirely sure what that means.

im curious about the following line:

lets look at the following scenario:

12:00:00 - HGB started - reads HGI, no signal

12:00:30 - there is a signal, but it quickly goes away after a few seconds

12:01:00 - HGB reads HGI again - no signal = there are no trades taken here.

Let's say I had started HGB at 12:00:30 it would have seen the signal and taken the trade?

so is it possible that the time of setup can have an effect on the trades taken?

Yes.

ok well that is probably a factor of why we are seeing wild differences in the forward test. and it's based on the computer's local time rather than server time?

is there anyway HGI could 'push' a signal to HGB?

or perhaps HGB could be initialised with a 'zero' time to start from based on the server time to increase consistency.

You mean, like the ones that HGB reads and acts upon when HGI presents them? Or doesn't act upon when fortunate enough to not be taking a fleeting signal? You really want to negate the odd moment of good fortune?

Anyway, it will not happen. I am coding HGB and so it will behave as I want it to - taking the signals presented when they are presented. Some of them will turn out to be portents of massive pips to come. Others will react to fleeting signals and turn into losers. That is life with HGI, and the sooner that users come to grips with this fact, the better it will be for them.

Don't be silly. How many different real brokers, so-called brokers and downright criminals do you think there are out there, with their myriad of start times for just about anything you care to name? A fiver says there is one idiot somewhere who claims the year starts on the 40th of Feb. You really think that an EA can be coded to coordinate that little lot? Wow.

Different brokers = different feeds = different results. £150,000,000 says that 50 traders using the same broker and trying to start trading at the same time with the same broker = different results. Dammit trendinator, most of the guys contributing to your thread still think their inability to make the ea run properly is down to 'bugs' rather than their imbecility. Lucky for them that they are 'contributing' to your thread and not any mine.

So, do not ask me for the impossible. It cannot happen.

Reporting in, Oanda doesn't work for reasons of FIFO and doesn't close trades when requested to close all it throws an error and closes nothing. Same for forex.com on Empty4.

Perhpas I should have realized this sooner, but without being able to close trades when needed, solving the hidden sl and tp doesn't make these brokers useable for HGB for us in the US without an addition to HGB that orders trades in compliance with FIFO when sending a close all request. Am currently demo'ing ATC Brokers (steep at .05 minimum) and TradersWay offshore, trying to get Sensus Empty4 to work. Not sure where I stumbled on TradersWay-anyone here know them? This is turning into the great broker hunt.... :arrrg:

You may need to go to a tool like One4all if you want to use Oanda
