Bob,
Thanks for the Analysis On my Not so Good Trade of Yesterday On the GBP/JPY Currency Pair, I am Learning as Slowly as I can, very very Soon the Learning Process will Pay out DIVIDENDS, anyway I tried something Else Again Today ( Hope I am Not Wrong) Based your Explanation but if I get it Wrong I will Keep On Trying until the Light Bulb Goes off Somewhere in my Tiny Brain and I begin to Get it Right Consistently with my Trades using this System... That's the Way I Learn to make the Right Calls and Place the Right Trades, so Kindly do Not Hesitate to Scold and Gently Point me in the Right Direction from time to Time if and When I Goof on my Trade Selection and Decisions.

Happy Trading Folks,

This will probably work out long term but imo you need to look left on the chart - you just sold in to that messy congestion area so you need to be prepared for the possibility of some DD or bouncing around for a while.

I would add the following to the Green and Red conditions to get them closer to trade entry time:

Green: ... and the selected stoch is below 30.

Red: ... and the selected stoch is above 70.

With this condition added, all that is left is a quick check of the CSS and if the lines agree, you can pull the trigger with confidence of success.

Thanks again for your quick and magnificent work.

Hi al,

Yes. The pair name colour is currently set up as you mentioned...depending on the value you set for the extern stoch_high and stoch_low.
The colour on the stoch numbers should be same as the pair name colour if aligned correctly.
Can you share which timeframe you check your CSS ? D1 or H4 ?

Cheers
Spider, I mainly watch CSS on D1 like Bob does. Before entering the trade, I also check H4 and H1 to make sure all the lines tell the same story.

Spider, excellent implementation of the pair colors. It becomes very obvious when the pair is almost ready for a trade.

Example: Let´s say GBPUSD is Green and I have only the H1 Sto column visible. That means WK, D and the D1 Sto arrow are aligned (Green) and H1 Sto is under 20. Now all I need is for the H1 Sto arrow to turn up (Green) to place the trade. Is there something we can add that tells you that event just happened? The Pair flashes or a Green arrow to the left of the pair, or the word Buy to the left of the pair or something like it? This is not necessary but it would be great to have.

Thanks a million.

That's interesting, so you only take the trade if the CSS lines up on all 3 TFs, H1, H4 and D1. That, together with having WK, D and D1Sto all lined up is really nailing down the trade.

I've been mainly trading on the H1 and M15 with the H4 CSS and I'm just not getting the consistency, so I've switched to the D1 for now. I'll try your suggestion of checking all 3 CSS TFs.

I am sorry for only now taking notice of this thread, but I've been away of the forum and only checking in now and then.

I'm getting in touch because I also did some modifications on this dashboard, based on coding by "padnoter", and wanted to share it with you. But this was weeks ago, and since I was still experimenting stuff I didn't want to share an half-baked dashboard, so I wanted to clean up some code, fix things, etc before sharing.

...

I may implement your stuff one day... but right now I'm swamped with stuff to do and I will probably not touch this until... June, I guess!

Sorry for the big post, hope you get something useful from it!
Hey VirtualFM,
I like the updates - especially the "only display for pairs worth looking at" idea.
Thanks for sharing... I'm sure I'll re-use some of your code.
[I'm still reading all the updates... so am probably behind on developments]
Cheers

I agree on the excellent implementation on the pair colours, and on the dashboard generally. I avoided the dashboard initially as I generally don't like using that kind of tool, and this one looks pretty cluttered. But once I got the hang of it, it makes it so much easier. It's possible to monitor 28 pairs in 3 different TFs at a glance, it's a great tool. By the way, I liked the idea of removing some of the clutter by not displaying the white numbers. I've tried with and without and I think I prefer the white numbers blanked out.

With your example above you can ofcourse just monitor the Sto arrow and watch for it to turn up but it's a little hard to keep track of with all the clutter, epsecially if you have mutliple pairs firing off all at once. The pair colour also changes back to yellow once it goes through the threshhold and it gets lost in the crowd. I was thinking that once the arrow turns up (definite V formed) the actual pair name could turn from green to bold green, indicating that the Sto has formed a V and turned up through your threshold. Then I guess we need to think about how long it should remain green bold for.

Reading through the thread there also appears to be a few people looking at incorporating the CSS into the dashboard. That's going to be very useful but the CSS is a bit hard to quantify and is open to interpretation, especially things like its slope etc. Would it be worthwhile to incorporate it in a simplistic manner initially, e.g. GBPUSD only turns green when WK, D and D1Sto are all lined up AND GBP is above USD on the CSS. Perhaps this could be done for whichever CSS TF you're trading with, or perhaps all 3 CSS TFs (D1, H4 and H1). Once this is in place other apspects of the CSS could be incoporated (slope, actual levels etc) but I can see this could get very complicated.

First and foremost, I would only pick one TF Sto. I am using H1 Sto right now for a quicker exit and more trades per day. Exit the trade as soon as the Sto arrow changes direction. For example in my case in a Buy, as soon as the H1 Sto arrow turns white. Once you settle on your TF, remove the other TFs from the dashboard. When you have only one TF showing, you can leave the white numbers on. They help you see how close you are to a pair color change.

I would not implement CSS in the dashboard. It is way too complicated and it takes 3 seconds to check the 3 TFs on the CSS to make sure they align. What I do is, as long as they point in the correct direction OR are more or less parallel in all 3, I pull the trigger.

As far as how long to keep the Pair alert active (Bold or other ways), it should only remain active till your Sto TF clears the threshhold that you have set. In my case that is 80/20

There is one new important value to enter: a FlatRange value, the higher is this number, the more currencies will be considered as "flat".

I will definitely add more timeframes because this was my objective all along but maybe after I get some sleep :P
And here is version alpha, featuring up to four TFs. There was much more work than I thought first :P

When first launching indicator you can expect a lag, on my computer it takes ~10 seconds.

For next versions I am thinking about alerts when all CSSes are in same direction and maybe when they are overbought/oversold and of course I need to clean up code because I made a huge mess trying to understand how CSS works. :P

What do you think guys? Any buggs spotted or have some ideas?

Bob, Tommaso,

Ok I got this idea in the shower and have been at the computer for 2 hours. It could still be improved but the first filter is like this. What if we make our 2:1 setting time period adjustable so that for the lower time period we could do some things like this. The 10.10 indicator on the 5 min with the following settings. 60 2:1 30 2:1 18:3 using a MTF stochastic.
60_30_18 on the five min.png
Than on the 15 minute we could do something real interesting like this but every body could modify there setting on the trading time period as they like. But as an experiment I did this wondering if we could tame the alarms this way.
1440 2:1 240 2:1 108:5
15 min 1440_240_108.png
The whole point being if we had adjustable 2:1 setting for intraday anything is possible. The 5 min and the 15 min just do not trade like other periods. They take there lead from other intraday time periods.

Also we just gave birth to an EA on the 15 minute possibly.
Might be also helpful on the 30 minute because it is really an intraday trading period.

Happy Trading

In my last post 108 would be too long but there is an average I think that would work. Playing some more here is the 15 minute again with 240 and 15 minute. The 15 min using the 27:3 if I remember the 3 right. Just using the yellow 240 would do nicely at capturing intraday trend with a more sensible slow 15 minute setting. Probably would set the template for a 1440 and a 240 2:1 setting.
15 min 10080_1440_240_27.png
A little better because it will capture the move trend/counter trend more effectively I think. I got to run away from the computer for now but will look at this later some more.

Happy Trading
