Sorry just realized this was just showing today in the account history. So it seems so far M5 Hedge just about keeping up with no hedge on profit but with less trades taken and less drawdown |

Hi, Just an observation; you use the 'comment' to sort the trades. The 'TJF Hedge trades' are given a separate comment, and won't be taken into account when you sort by 'comment'. |

well spotted.. haha whoops! Ok now sorted by magic number (there are some other tests running on here too) 0 is hedging off 500 is M1 hedging 5 is M5 hedging .... hedging off has now jumped significantly into the lead with the decent retrace. |

What about taking directional trades as well as hedge trades based on HGI indicator? |

It's an idea if we can prove that directional trades in this way are profitable. If they are that should mean that we have a net profit from the hedge trades on some time frames at the end of this week. We are currently testing M1 through to H4. For the hedge trade it is not so much a profit gaining exercise .. although that would be some serious icing... it is about reducing risk and margin requirements of RnR during a strong move. My hunch is that the original RnR without hedging will remain most profitable but my desire was to find a way to trade this more safely and to see which timeframe for hedging offers the best balance between profit and safety. |

Hi TraderJoe and Gertje, How did your tests perform for this week - I've been following with interest and it would be great to see how the various timeframes have been going. Thanks |

It's been interesting and for me a failed experiment. Both M1 and M5 HGI hedging has resulted in significant losses compared with the original without hedging. I will wait for market close to post the totals so it's a straight comparison with M15 H1 and H4 that Gertje has been testing.. I would love to see some positive numbers there. |
