this basket trailing you are talking about was coded by you or it is some kind of trade manager available here? If it is a trade manager then which one?

David has sparked my interest as well.

Working hard with awesome and it is doing well then very quickly gets smashed with drawdown. The old curse.
Trying to find ways to minimize these events with awesome then i can retire. :smile:

Other tips and tricks pls forward your ideas.

One for me is to manage the margin level as required to stop awesome creating more cycles but manage existing trades. This wont necessarily stop the increase in drawdown but wont add more trades and potentially make it a lot worse. My 2 cents...

I don't think you will be retiring any time soon :D
Well, if you don't let the EA place additional trades how is it going to recover the open trades which are negative?
The market could swing back but often this is not enough.

In order to control the DD we have to limit the number of trades and also to avoid correlated pairs, and therefore we will have to accept lower returns.

Trying to get higher gains by adding similar pairs or by including pairs which tend to trend and have a big daily range like the GBPJPY will sooner or later get us in trouble.

Trying to understand what Awesome did with the recent EURNZD spike as this is a major part of the drawdown at the moment.
The next picture is from analysing some open trades of MTF (M15 + H1 + H4)TP25 from the Awesome Basket Forward thread. http://www.myfxbook.com/members/1Direct ... 1-/2242311

According to the 'Open Trades'-list details and the graph a whole bunch of H1 and H4 sell trades were opened 100-200 pips under the price level at the time. Of course this instantly causes DD. Did anybody see something similar in their own tests?
As it happened over a period of hours I could not be a spread event. I am intrigued.

Everything I described is from the 1Direction MTF running in the Awesome Forward Test on MyFXBook.
I was wondering if anybody saw something similar in their own tests...

I haven't noticed such behaviour, I hope its not a bug.
Your multiple trades are a concern.

Trading multiple timeframes is going to give you multiple trades and although you will have higher gains it will also result in larger drawdown.

I prefer to trade 1 timeframe and I have removed this pair from my EA list because in my opinion it doesn't qualify for trading this strategy.
Due to its big daily range you may end up with many trades and if it trends for a few days it will be hard to recover the trades.

Not to question the performance, which is outstanding, but I see the leverage used is 1:500

Marx64, wil you be using the same setfile with 1:200 or even 1:100 leverage?

His demo was using a small 1000 account so stick with 5-10k with 100-1 or 50-1 and you'll be fine on margin.

Also just to clarify it is a multi time frame set not H4. It was based on my weekly basket one not 730H4. That was my typo when I messaged Steve.

I see TJF already answered the question :smile:
1:500 is standard on IC Markets but this particular combo never used much of it, so 1:200 for 1000€ account would have been ok I guess. But very likely I just started at lucky moment, so we will never know.
Regarding the small account size- I think we should try to develop something we can trade on 1000unit account. Not many are happy or able to fund 10000 live accounts, that's why I keep my demo account sizes small to have a feeling how it would look on my 1000€ live account ;)
