Actually, those false entries were properly filtered out. This is the negative pinbar filter hard at work (see Chang Log, Post 1, page 1, for details).

Edit: Correction: see just above Change Log.

I thought that might have been the case, however I wouldn't have said either of them qualified as pin bars??

What is the criteria you are using to determine a pinbar and whether or not to trade?

In the original version, there was an error in the logic that evaluated pinbars for buys and sells. Since v1a, The8 has used the following logic:

Attempts to avoid negative pinbar entries by requiring the wick opposite the entry direction is longer than the wick toward the entry direction.

Ok, that clears up what has happened now...

However, I do think this function will filter out a lot of potentially viable trades.
Can you please confirm if this is correct? The wick in the opposite direction of the entry direction could be only 1 pip shorter than the wick in the entry direction and the trade would not be taken?

This may also explain why the EA is not taking many trades I thought were valid.
If this is the case, is it possible to be able to turn this feature on/off? or perhaps relax this criteria somewhat?

In the attached eurgbp chart I have highlighted 3 examples where trades were not taken (looking back based on this rule) which all would have been profitable trades.

Sure. Both, perhaps. Something like... UsePinbarFilter... and then... PinbarRatio... will be in v1u.
I've been working on a host of v1u additions with a :ugeek: who, thus far, has chosen to fly under the radar.

Awesome Rjo, I'm sure some sort of filter would be helpful, but possibly not as tight as it is now.
Anyway, it's a great EA even as it is...my first month demoing finished up 6%, so I'm happy either way :D

And thanks for all your efforts with the EA to date and to your mystery :ugeek:

This is starting to look real good. I stumbled upon a very good setfile that
produces excellent profits and low DD. The backtest is for 2012 and I was
surprised to see the EA win all 25 trades. I have not been able to duplicate
this with any of the other versions. I still have a lot more combos to run, but
this one is definitely a keeper. Data is for the latest version.

Ah ok, then I found a bug about this. If I understand it right the SL would be set above/below the entry. Now I have min SL = spread. So my SL would not survive a long time :D (example EURJPY again: entry was 114.241, SL 114.221 :D)

A good solution would be to switch to "UsePrevHighLowSL" if no ZZ can be found.
