EA version 1b just opened a trade on my VPS. MA stack is off on this particular test

I am trying 3 different settings on three demo accts with 24 pairs each.

1 - No Ma stack, 30 Pip SL

2- No Ma stack, 20 Pip SL

3- MA stack 30 Pip SL

Hi Steve, No new trades are being taken with V3. It seems to be the consensus from a few traders, maybe we are just missing something??

I looked at the closed trades over the weekend to evaluate what using the ma stack filter might do.
It reduced the number of trades to21. I came up with 8 winners and 13 losers so the win loss ratio was about the same.
Thanks for your informative post. Mine took two trades all week. :lol: One was a winner, so SB made three times as much as it lost.

Would you care to take a look at what would have happened with a wider stop loss when you feel so inclined?

Hi FXTrucker,

A fixed SL cannot be a valid reason for entering a SL. A stoploss should always be placed behind, resistance or support, not just 30/40/100 pips away from entry.

The stop loss needs some protection not just placed anywhere just because its 30 pips away.

Hi Guys seeing that no one is going to respond I will just have to say it, I have been sitting for days now trying to see if the buy lines or sell lines would be triggered and nothing happening' Trigger lines are simply disappearing when price hits. Sorry guys I have been following since the inception of this bot and hope that I don't offend anyone.

Sure thing lets see if the VPS can handle 1 more- I'll try a 40 pip stop that will give risk to rewards of about 4:1 with the 20pip SL about 3:1 with the 30 pip SL and 2:1 with the 40pip SL. It will be interesting to see if the win ratios stay at about 33% or if they are proportional to the Risk to Reward ratios.


Andy- I agree with your comments on fixed stop loss placement. However what I am trying to do is experiment with different settings as Steve suggests and particularly the setting Bob suggested in his series of posts that inspired this the Simple Bob EA. They start near the bottom of this page:

Also aside from the css, rsi slope and sto filter modules in the ea I don't see anything thing the code that evaluates the areas near the xxx.000 to look back for tested support/resistance . Since fixed sl is all we got it what we use.

As I understand the idea behind this trading strategy it has assumes that a xxx.000 round number is a strong support resistance area allowing for tight stops and a high reward to risk ratio. This combination is the assumed edge it is exploiting.

Live testing over a long period of time will show if this assumed edge exists and is exploitable. If the win ratio stays around 33% for a range of RR than it may be possible to run it on a live account with relative safety at low leverage to get 3% a month or so.

I know some others are not seeing trades open and can only suggest make sure you have the smiley face in the top right corner and that you look in the experts and journal tabs to see if any errors are being logged. This EA documents it actions pretty well so any errors should show up there.

I have the V1b ea running on three demo accts with fxcm and forex dot com. The two demos with MA Stack disabled have opened trades so far this week.

Hi Wavegarrick, i´m in the same boat as you, no trades with new version 1b for many days now, it marks sell/buy lines and also x.000 lines but then nothing ever happens...
