Have you changed the chart back to normal candles and see if it crossed the DP ?

the problem is you call CalculatePivots(0) this return always 0, must be CalculatePivots(Symbol())

Try it with your Empty4 tester and see. It will not trade.

this is right, but really if you call the funtion void CalculatePivots(string symbol) with CalculatePivots(0) it returns always 0 check it with a Print (DailyPivot);, there might be some other bug why it does not trade ..

Very strange. The ea just would not send any trades in the tester when I used CalculatePivots(Symbol() ) before, and only started trading when I changed it to CalculatePivots(0).

But, testing it again just now, it would trade !

It is obvious the error was in the calculation of pivot values.

Update v.5.06 in post one. Hope this will resolve the problem of trade entry before crossing and closing above/below DP.

I meant if you use the meta editor to compile your ea, turn the EXPERT ADVISORS TAB AT THE TOP PANEL OF YOUR PLATFORM off before compiling. Otherwise, the compiling may trigger some trades even when the criteria for entry are not met.

But the problem of the wrong entry yesterday was caused by wrong calculation of pivot values. I have made some changes and hopefully solved the problem.

If there are more wrong entries like yesterday, then we have to look again.

The major pairs are still retracing after the big moves last week. Don't expect trend ea's to do well for the next couple of days.

Trend ea's will continue to enter trades with trend and they are very likely to end in the red. It is very difficult to code an ea to prevent this.

But if you manage an ea actively and review your charts at the start of trading each day, and decide whether to use a particular ea for that day, that would appear to be the only way to overcome this problem at the moment, unless someone can code an ea whcih can think like humans do.

BTW, CTCDPC is a trend ea, trading in line with 240LWMA trend.

We need to learn to draw horizontal support/resistance lines, and determine where the key support/resistance for each pair is, and then let the ea trade from those zones. This is what price action traders do. You can get free online forex education regarding this at learntotradetheforex.com. I am in no way connected with the organisation but learn a great deal there. You don't have to believe every thing they say there but pick and choose what is useful to you. The trading coach reminded traders of the possibilty of retracement to support by the major pairs over the weekend, and this is what is unfolding since yesterday.

yep most of the trades are at their extreme, very tricky to get some good moves at the moment, i'm using bobs new 10.06 to take trades but not holding on to them, 20 or 30 pips out,

It is down almost 9 % so far. We will see if it will recover when the market settles in a few days time.

no problems, i have two meta 4's running on one of my comps, and they are both playing up all of a sudden when i go to launch the platforms i get this revolving circle and then screen greys out, any ideas running windows 8
