Thanks Skoda2008! That was good explanation That would work only theoretically. Technically, I don't see such possibility. Regards Martin |

Ok Zealot. We have seen GP whinging that you are too expensive to buy a license from. We have seen you whinging that you are not prepared to move on your license price. Now you have the perfect opportunity to take a half-way decent market position. Those cretins are CrapperQuotes are set to fuck up trading for several weeks with what will inevitably be a half-arsed release of a dimwitted so-called 'update' to Empty4. It will be utter bollocks. Come this time next week, hardly any one here in this forum will be able to send a trade. Here is a paragraph I just sent to Tomasso in a pm: Are you prepared to grasp the opportunity, Zealot, or do you lack the brains and initiative to do so? Be warned: I am on the warpath. One word of moronic corporate-speak and you and this thread disappear from here forever. Think about 4 times before posting a reply. Fail to reply, and you disappear from here anyhow. |

Hi Steve, FYI we had a meeting with another alternative platform provider today. I've been playing around with their software and it's quite robust. They have 0 setup cost, a minimal monthly minimum and only charge a $ per million on executed trades. Now THAT is how a new platform provider should be structuring their fee schedule if they want their platform to be easily accessible to brokers and gain market share. Cheers, Jeremy |

Interesting. First there was a so-called coder from Protrader posting here. I posted a critical post of the business model he was promoting. He purported to know nothing about this, so I told him to send someone who can discuss this. So, along came Zealot, who purports to understand the business model. Yet is unable to provide one that the brokers can work with. And has not responded to my post from last night. Interesting to compare this with Jem's contribution, is it not? Forget Protrader guys. Members of this forum are searching with an increasing sense of desperation for an alternative to the horrors of Empty4. The people promoting Protrader are too stupid to recognise this and win over our members. They cannot produce a workable business model. They are going nowhere. Dimwits from Protrader, my door is always open to you. You will have to make a convincing argument to me by pm that it is worth my members' time allowing you to re-present your product. Being actually able to use the damn thing in live money trading with GP will be the first prerequisite. Our members are not interested in something that might be available in the dim and distant future. This thread is locked. |

Hi Steve, I have unlocked this thread as I'd like to hear more from members that have used this program and how they've been finding it. It's coming time to onboard a new platform and I've tried them all and Protrader V3 is the one to beat by far. It's an amazing package and we may be able to look into integrating into GP at some point soon. I don't want to raise hopes just yet but there's been some interesting developments which I won't be talking about until they are cemented. If there's one platform that has the opportunity to really gain market share from Empty4 I believe it to be this one. So - anyone else had any thoughts about Protrader V3? Hope to bring some good news soon Cheers, Jeremy |

I still think if/once it gains acceptance it'll be the one to beat. I've used it a lot for back testing, and it does a good job. The other two platforms that have attracted my attention (and then lost it again) have been zorro and c-trader. Both of which have had tick data back testing on their to-do list for as long as I've known they've existed. I have no idea how it performs sending real orders, I haven't even sent so much as one demo trade. I don't see the point as there are still no brokers on offer that I'd feel comfortable with. Turkish banks don't really do it for me! There has recently been very little activity on the PT3 forum and platform updates which were once per week seem to have stopped. Maybe this is due to the slow take up rate with brokers? |

Hi Jeremy, I must admit: I did not download and check out Protrader V3 yet - too much occupied with my recent MQ4 development. Their website looks nice - but that's just what a website should do to support sales. I see a severe problem in their statement (somewhere in their forum) that they only support 'old style' MQ4 (build 5xx) and do not plan to change that policy. As an old style coder that started by punching FORTRAN 77 code in paper cards I am absolutely no OOP guy - but talking to more professional (mostly younger) coders led to the insight that OOP at present is the best way to develop robust, portable, and most of all reuseable code. I believe that a migration to OOP concepts is absolutely necessary sooner or later when talking about complex cluster indicators, dashboards, or multipair EAs and such. So I honestly believe that opening MQ4 for OOP techniques and providing a slow migration path from old style C like code to C++ style is one of the best ideas those guys at C*Quotes could possibly develop. We're talking about nothing less than a complete change of a coding paradigm. Thus, for me a slow and self-determined migration path is essential. And I am sure that this argument applies to most of the MQ4 coders out there who - just like me - did not absorb OOP concepts from the beginning of their coding experience. If everything Protrader has to offer to meet the OOP challenge is a C# interface and then leave coders like me alone with a fully fledged, professional C# IDE then I see a serious problem here when it comes to writing future proof code. This hurdle seems very high, at least for me. BTW: I did not forget all the serious issues and constraints of the Empty4 platform. Uncountless times during those last weeks I just wanted to Cheers, Jürgen |
