HI,
The pairs that work over the last 7 years with a good NP to DD ratio with this EA are:
EURAUD
EURUSD
EURNZD
GBPJPY

I am testing others

Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for the Ichimoku EA, though I must admit I normally trade manually having not had much success with robots in general. However the Ichimoku Cloud System is the mainstay of my trading so this bot is of interest.
I have the default Empty4 Ichimoku indicator on a 4Hr candle chart as a template. Placed the EA on E/A, E/U, E/NZ, G/J pairs as well as AUD/USD using your set file on each. Magic Nos. changed accordingly for each pair.
The EA has only been running for 24Hrs and must have hit a lucky period as the demo equity account is now at plus 10%.
All pairs are trading except EUR/AUD. Initially since April 9, six small trades across the pairs with a small loss occurred until the main trends initiated and held. Very promising.
Now, my NOOB questions:-
.. Not being a coder, I am trying to understand the lot size logic. The lot size on the trades taken varied from 0.07 for AUD/USD to 0.5 (which is the max setting) for EUR/USD. I would like to understand how the lot sizes were determined. I am just a bit worried if all pairs were assigned a 0.5 lot and accordingly the potential DD. I realize I can set a lower max lot size, but what would then be the effect on the lower lot size calculations?
..The Stop Loss per set file is 50 pips. However the pairs trading had s/l assigned as follows:-
EUR/USD 62.2 pips EUR/NZD 93.9 pips AUD/USD 48.4 pips GBP/JPY 94.9 pips
Is the code applying a multiplier to the setting of 50 and what is the reasoning, or are the Ichimoku indicators utilised for the S/L determinations, or am I missing something in the settings?
...The Target Price of 50 per the settings was not initiated in any trade as observed in the Trade Window. Accordingly I manually exited trades at a TP equivalent to the stop loss range. Therefore is there a setting I have to amend to get the TP to set and thus exit if I am not present at the screen?
...I noted that the EA took a buy trade (April 9) on GBP/JPY as the 4Hr candle closed above the Kijun Sen (Good). However the candle was in the middle of the Kumo Cloud and also not supported by the Chikou Span, and further the projected Kumo Cloud had turned bearish at the time of entry. This is in my opinion a risky trade. Have you considered these basic filters?

At the end of the day, this appears to be a darn good EA and worth pursuing?

Hi Geoff,
Thanks for picking up on the thread.
Let me go through the trading logic including position stop loss. I have stripped the code bear to basic if then logic all Ichimoku settings as std. As you can see I have used NBs famous 240LWMA on 4h as a condition.

1. There are 2 types of trades Trend and Rentry
2. Trend Trade
LONG Fwd Cloud is up And Close > Ichimoku_Senkou Span A , And Ichimoku_Chinkou Span [26] > Close[26]
And Close[1] > Envelopes( 240 , Linear Weighted , 0 , Close , LWMAEnvelope , And ((Close[1] < Envelopes( 240 , Linear Weighted , 0 , Close , OUTER_Envelope )[1])
And (((Envelopes( 240 , Linear Weighted , 0 , Close , OUTER_Envelope )[1] - Close[1]) > ConvertToRealPips(( MinPIPStoOuterEnvelope )))
Now for the multiple triggers
((Ichimoku_Kijun Sen( 9 , 26 , 52 )[1] Crosses Above Ichimoku_Senkou Span A( 9 , 26 , 52 )[1])
Or ((Ichimoku_Kijun Sen( 9 , 26 , 52 )[1] Crosses Above Ichimoku_Senkou Span B( 9 , 26 , 52 )[1])
Or ((Ichimoku_Kijun Sen( 9 , 26 , 52 )[1] Crosses Above Envelopes( 240 , Linear Weighted , 0 , Close , LWMAEnvelope )[1])
Or (Ichimoku_Tenkan Sen( 9 , 26 , 52 )[1] Crosses Above Ichimoku_Kijun Sen( 9 , 26 , 52 )[1]
Now for the positioning and entry if above is satisfied
Buy (using %Risk and Stoploss to calculate the lot size) lots at Market
Stop Loss = (Ichimoku_Senkou Span B( 9 , 26 , 52 )[1] - ConvertToRealPips(( pipstoaddtoSLspan ))) pips;
Trailing Stop (Ichimoku_Senkou Span B( 9 , 26 , 52 )[1] - ConvertToRealPips(( pipstoaddtoSLspan ))) pips, activated when at least tsactivation pips in profit;

The Reentry trading logic is
LONG Trend Reentry

IF
UP CLOUD e.g. ((Ichimoku_Senkou Span A( 9 , 26 , CLOUDspanAperiod )[1] > Ichimoku_Senkou Span B( 9 , 26 , CLOUDspanAperiod )[1])
And Fwd or Leading cloud is also UP ((Ichimoku_Senkou Span A( 9 , 26 , CLOUDspanAperiod )[(-25)] > Ichimoku_Senkou Span B( 9 , 26 , CLOUDspanAperiod )[(-25)])
And ((Ichimoku_Senkou Span B( 9 , 26 , 52 )[1] > MovingAverage( 240 , 0 , Linear Weighted , Close )[1])
And ((Low[1] > Ichimoku_Senkou Span A( 9 , 26 , 52 )[1])
And ((Ichimoku_Chinkou Span( 9 , 26 , 52 )[26] > Ichimoku_Tenkan Sen( 9 , 26 , 52 )[26])
And ((Close[1] < Envelopes( 240 , Linear Weighted , 0 , Close , OUTER_Envelope )[1])
And (((Envelopes( 240 , Linear Weighted , 0 , Close , OUTER_Envelope )[1] - Close[1]) > ConvertToRealPips(( MinPIPStoOuterEnvelope )))
And ((Ichimoku_Tenkan Sen( 9 , 26 , 52 )[1] > Ichimoku_Kijun Sen( 9 , 26 , 52 )[1])
And (Close[1] Crosses Above Ichimoku_Kijun Sen( 9 , 26 , 52 )[1])

Buy LotsTrendrentry lots at Market again calculating lots using Risk% and stoploss
Stop Loss = (Low[1] - ConvertToRealPips(( pipstoaddtoSLkijun ))) pips;
Trailing Stop (Ichimoku_Kijun Sen( 9 , 26 , 52 )[1] - ConvertToRealPips

I have ideas for refinement but would be happy to hear yours.

Hi Jonathon,
Thanks for your comprehensive reply.

I also use Bob's 10.6 and or 10.7 systems for an initial quick visual scan and trade determinations of potential pairs, but then always refer back to the Ichimoku template for a final analysis and as a
GO NO-GO filter. Find this works quite well for me.
I see the trigger Tenkan-Sen cross Kijun-Sen is a condition, however on the GBP/JPY trade I made reference to in my first post, the EA took the long with the Kijun-Sen on top ie. a bearish condition. ( The bears did win this trade with the stop loss being hit.) According to your code was that trade acceptable.

I must say that all other trades on other pairs have been good from an Ichimoku entry condition.

Suggestions.
. Would prefer LONG :- nine day moving average (Tenkan-Sen) is above twenty six day moving average
(Kijun-Sen) at all times before trade is taken.
SHORT:- Vice versa.
. I personally would like the 'Set Lot Size' added for manual determination of Lot Size; in addition to the
current method. (Just like to be in control)

. Would you be able to add 'Set Fix TP for Trade = True' , or whatever is needed to set the TP. Just a
luxury to avoid doing it manually.

. I use the Kiju-Sen as a trailing stop. Seems to work okay. May be difficult to add in code ?

I notice you have major candle patterns in your code listing, perhaps pin-bars need to be added. Do you intend to use these as filters.

Have added NZD/USD, USD/JPY and USD/CHF pairs. The EA is now trading E/U and G/J

Geoff,
all you mention is fairly easy and I can complete at weekend. I understand your pref. for tenkan kijun cross being a primary conditions.
As far as PriceAction PA is concerned I am looking at in the context of trade management rather than entry. For example moving Stoploss based on fractals and or pin bars.

I am also in parallel working with an improved mtf ichimoku indicator to use Ichimoku signals e.g cloud break out on the daily and manage the trades on the 4h, However early days.

I included now this bot into my test portfolio, using the recommended pairs EURAUD,EURNZD,EURUSD and GBPJPY.
Also included are the currencies
AUDUSD, EURJPY,GBPUSD,GBPNZD,GBPAUD,USDJPY,USDCHF,NZDUSD,AUDJPY,NZDJPY and even SGDJPY.

Not sure about right application of the only proposed EURUSD-setfile, posted by Jonathan, now for all pairs: probably this setfile may not work for the other pairs I included ? :?
@Jonathan: What are your thoughts ?

Risk is only 1 %. TF = H4. Broker: Global Prime. :hi:

P.S.: Atm - the bot only opened one trade EURNZD - former trades aren't from this EA !

Hi Jonathan ! To make it sure - all indis etc. are included into the code ? Nothing more is needed - put the bot onto the chart and let it run - right ?

Post subject:  MTF Ichimoku

Question to Ichi Traders FX , Indis & Stocks - Manual and Automated - Has anyone used a MTF Ichimoku system?

I have been looking at Ichimoku D1 used on a 4H chart using Ichimoku H4 TK crosses in direction of confirmed D1 trend.
Clearly using all Ichimoku D1 senses to confirm it is a trend i.e. for Long : PA above Cloud, T above K and CS(26) above PA(26) (note because you are using D1 indi on 4H 26 bars back is effectively 156 on the 4H screen).
Next find the TK cross using Ichimoku on 4h in direction of D1 trend plus use the momentum line in ichimoku again on 4h CS (Chinkou Span) > PA (Price Action) this time 26 bars back not 156.

So we are using Ichimoku D1 to filter for Trends only and direction then using 4h Ichimoku to identify retracements with momentum in direction of D1 trend.

I will attach the indi I have been using for MTF (believe it is public domain checking with Steve) and use the the standard Ichimoku indi for 4H

..Remember defining an entry logic as I have done above is about 20% of a complete trading system!......
Much much more to do ...
So I was interested if anyone has looked at and or would be interested in looking at ?
