Settings 15pips TP / 5pips ALR Again some issues between order 3 and 4, this time the price level is wrong. Is anyone else testing the EA? |

I thought I saw the actual order level set by the EA out of alignment on the chart but I might be wrong; in that case the slippage would be double. Good to see that the subsequent orders are managed correctly though. |

Slippage again after a spike. I don't know if that's an issue with the broker or just the fact that Empty4 can't cope with 2 simultaneous orders. |

I have a question to ask to clarify some parameters in this new ALR 2.0. First off, amazing job on this code. I have been backtesting scenarios with super great results. Now to my question. You mentioned this in a post previously... In ALR2.0, the loss of the original trade is simply ALR_Zone_Pips. Since we do not need to cover up the loss of ALR_TargetPips, the lot size is much smaller and manageable. The other advantage is that the ALRTargetPips to ALRZonePips ratio can be shrunk to a smaller value , i.e ALR_TargetPips:100, ALR_ZonePips:50, and the lot size growth will still be more manageable than the original ALR. The advantage of this would be less ALR_Turns required. Thanks again to renexxxx for sharing this. So you really mean that the ALR zone pips does not have to be that 3:1 ratio to the ALR Target? Ex: 50/150. Also, what is the difference between the ALR_TargetPips_SameDir and ALR_TargetPips_OppDir? Do these need to be same to get best results? In my head I would think they need to be the same, but maybe you can explain some more. Last Param question, what is CrimialIsECN? I seem to get the same results whether that is True or False, but maybe it cannot be tested in backtests? What should this value be set to? Thanks so much!! |

1. Yes ALR Zone pips to ALR Target ratio can be smaller than 3:1 because the losses are smaller. 2. ALR_TargetPips_SameDir means target pips in the same direction as the initial trade, opposite for the other. You can set them the same if you are not sure. If you are using some trend trading stuff...might be nice to set higher TargetPips in same direction rather than opposite. 3. CriminalIsECN is supposed to be for ECN brokers, where you need to send your orders in two phases rather than one. Cheers |

Thanks Dewey McG & SpiderX for your efforts on making ALR even better. However, when i attach the EA to the chart there is no activity by EA, although its running. I have kept everything almost to default. The price even after moving to almost more than 50 pips in opposite direction nothing happens. also do we need to set our first tp manually or EA takes care of it. |

Help, am I missing something here or is this the way this ALR is designed?? I would have thought the design it to never close out a "basket" of trades on a pair until it managed to close the final level with a profit. What I have seen with demo trading is that I sometimes lose money for a pair if the last level is hit and its in the opposite direction of the market movement. I have attached my example of orders to see exactly what happened. In this setup, my first trade was to SELL and hopefully win a profit on the SHORT side. However, I reached my max levels of 10 which happened to land on a final SELL. The market moved against me to the up side (LONG), which caused this "basket" of trades to close with an ultimate big loss. I am not able to picture what is going on here, but is this loss something that is just known we have to deal with? With that said, what can be done to prevent this? I am open to the feedback and want to understand how we can all learn from this and prevent losses. Thanks again for all your dedicated work!!! |

Hi vicmam, there are others who will be able to explain far more elegantly than myself, but if I understand what your referring to, then at some point it is accepted that a loss might occur. To mitigate this the EA provides the parameters ALR_MaxTrades, ALR_MaxLots and ALR_MaxPercentLoss which can be set for your worst case scenario. A sort of 'Uncle' point - beyond these set points the EA stops trading . Does that help any at all? |
