Oh for crying out flaming loud. Do you read nothing I write?

Sorry, Couldn't resist.

I will now beat myself to a gooey pulp.

...................................................................................

Hey, turns out that is fun.

Oops.    Ok, sorry, moving on.

Error one says, "No error returned, but the result is unknown"

You manage to translate that for the rest of us and you will be a true shf star.

There are three possible issues here:
  • the already known one that weekend craptesting is even more hopeless than mid-week craptesting.
  • I wrote the latest code at the weekend when the markets are closed. Markets closed fucks up craptesting even more than it is already fucked up. So, I am not able to use crapergy tester for its only usable function - testing out code. Testing the code can only happen when the markets are open.
  • PP and PPoS in their original time frame form are untestable in crapergy tester, becuase PP and PPoS require W1 and MN1 candles and crapergy tester fails to have any of these candles. I have not a clue what happens when an EA demands a time frame unavailble in crappergy tester. Nor do I care. I am reasonably confident that I have made the point occasionally that I coded PP's manual strategy that he had evolved over several months. Craptesting was not necessary, even if the results of this waste of time would have been accurate - which they would not have been
Angat, I know I have been intemperate at times, and have apologised to you a couple of times, but are you beginning to get a sense of why I get a tad irritated from time to time?

Thing is, your question kind-of implies that PP and PPoS are backtestable, however unreliable the results are. Yes they are if you disallow higher tf signals; no they are not if you use the ea as originally intended.

This will confuse noobes.

Not might confuse them. Will confuse them.

Couldn't simply accept my informal ban on discussion about craptesting and stop wittering about it, could you?

Just as a favour to me? Perhaps if I return that $10 bet you paid up on?

sorry but I must too:

Empty4 backtester is only one thing big, big bs, if you want wasting your time with it Angat, it is your time and feel free to do so, but in future please do it only for you... as all further posts about this matter will too here in the be nice thread be deleted...

Cheers :)

You misunderstand me a tad (or perhaps my question was misleading). I'm coding my filters into my PPoS variant and I use backtesting only as guide to see if my code compiles and more or less does what I need it to do without causing errors. I know the report results are bullshit (although sometimes fun to look and dream about what if ;) )

It's seems my code amendments might be causing the modify errors, just retested your original and its looks fine. I will revisit my code.

As for your lengthy post, cheers for that Steve. It made me chuckle (and my legs are somewhat intact! However Tommaso tried to have a go at my left arm with his chainsaw....Ouch!)

Nevertheless, there's always going to be inexperienced questions that perhaps have been asked before a few times and hopefully in turn there will always be kind souls to answer them. That is the purpose of this thread. If anyone find the questions posted by anyone to be trying or bothersome for them, don't reply to them. This isn't directed at anyone, but to all at SHF.

I for one will try and be a kind soul who will happily answer any question I can and I know there are others out there too.

I work in tech support and answering inexperienced questions day in day out is my job, it doesn't phase me, I don't get annoyed. In fact I find a little bit of happiness / sense of accomplishment, that I helped that one person.

I'm not saying we should change the way the whole forum works, just a couple of threads here and there where kind souls can help people in need with absolutely no fear of any repercussions.

3am here again, so I'll stop rattling on and go to bed.

As there is no PP on Steroids Basics to ask questions hopefully it is ok to ask a question here.

Regarding placing trades as a percentage as opposed to a fixed lot size.

I have the:

MainTradeLot set to = 0
MultiTradeLot set to = 0

In the General Inputs tab I have the:

RiskPercent set to =1.0

All the MainTrades set by the EA were at 1 percent of the capital but all the MultiTrades were set at 0.01 lots.

Also you get a message from the EA telling you that it is setting the MultiTrade lot size to the minimum.

"MultiTradeLot was adjusted to MinLot = 0.010"

Is there a way to set the Multitrades to also place trades as a risk percent as opposed to a fixed lot?

Thanks

Excellent - whilst you're in a good mood could you also add an ATR based TP/SL for the multi-trades?

I have the new PP on steroids 1c but require some help from some kind soul.

I have set up the main and multitrades exactly the same regarding trading size, the main trade gets set at the risk percent set but the multitrades keeps getting set to the minimum of 0.01 lots.

Could someone take a look at my setting, I have all ATR set to 0 does not effect result, have break even switched off again on or off same result. For the life of me I know I'm missing something but cannot find it..

No. The whole point of multi-trades is to be in and out quickly for a set profit that is easily realisable.
