Hi Alpenkorps

The account received a margin call yesterday and I had to intervene to save it.
When I intervened the equity left in the $3K account was $1K
In the end I managed to save $2.5K.

I first hedged the larger trade (7.29 lots !!! ), and I slowly closed portions of it.
It was a tricky thing to do but good experience.
I had to close some trades at a loss because the market was moving against them but I couldn't close all of them because the account didn't have enough equity.
I started with more long trades than short and I was closing short trades when the equity allowed.

I think if I was trading 0.01 lots this wouldn't have happened.

I have tried all timeframes, I couldn't find a stable setting for lower TF (1M and 5M). 30M and 1H have some issues as well, probably they need another ma value, I didn't test them with different ma's. 4H is the most accurate TF, with lowest DD, but sadly less trades, less profit over time. At Daily, u catch a range, you are dead.

Also higher TF's will require more margin resulting less profit.

15M seems best to me considering risk and profit. But remember, the EA is not bullet proof yet, we need to be aware of the large spikes.

Use hourly chart. Started with 30 and 60 ema in May changed to 5 ema 60 ema in June. Go for 50 pips pairs GU and EJ only. Attached is 2 months result. High drawdown is the disadvantage

hi....instead of using MAS why not try macd on say H4? i mean macd cross-overs, these rarely happen and when they do, they lead to great amounts of pips. i dont think using the previous high or low is very effective...with the h4 chart,targets can be as high as 100pips or more..this would reduce the multiplier...we can use 0.01 buy,0.02sell.......and the counter-trade should not be a pending order,but a trade taken on the confirmation of the macd cross....just my thoughts.

You do not need MACD but just a variable MA crossover EA with variable martingale inputs. You can use FXCM strategy trader to get the optimum values for any TF. For example a 5/60 ma 100 pips tp with martingale on H4 will do nicely
