All is fine and dandy until the balance/equity grows to £1800 for example, as the lot size is still 0.01
Now the profit target is 1.8% compared with the 'actual' target of 1%, which is pushing A+SS a little to far in my opinion. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
The way I understand it, if we set our TP to 1% it stays at 1%
Our lot size and our TP in £ will increase following the growth of our equity
but the TP % will not change.

I agree completely Billy, and I probably didn't phase it very well.
What I am trying to say is that while A+SS is not changing %profit or amount per trade size initially, the actual amount £ it is looking to close out raises dramatically as the balance/equity raises.
In the example I posted previously the raise in lot size would not be until account equity/balance reached £2000

You could run two versions: one with 10 gbp close and one with 1% close and then see if there is an increase in drawdown or balance etc.

Maybe we should add more pairs?
Daily 1% profit just locked in on my live account :yahoo: another question is do we carry on trading 24hrs and not stop after profit reached?
Hi Kev

21 Pairs should be enough,
I have actually picked 23 pairs and I have started trading them in groups.
I did this because I wanted different "fill the Gap" distance in the pairs which have large daily range.

Group 1 has 13 pairs which have an ADR of approx 80 pips or less
AUDCAD,AUDCHF,AUDJPY,AUDUSD,CADCHF,CADJPY,CHFJPY,EURGBP,EURUSD,NZDUSD,NZDJPY,USDJPY,
NZDCHF

Group 2 has 5 Pairs which have an ADR of approx 100 pips
EURJPY,GBPCHF,GBPUSD,EURCAD,EURAUD

Group 3 has 5 Pairs which have an ADR of greater than 120 pips
GBPJPY,EURNZD,GBPAUD,GBPCAD,GBPNZD

In this account I only let the EA trade in the +ve swap direction
and I do this because some trades may take months to recover
so I will collect some interest while I wait .

Now regarding your 24/5 question, I prefer to let trades run their course
My -ve trades will be closed by the basket Or they will be recovered.
Since you use a very large Gap distance you shouldn't have too many trades run against you
So recovery shouldn't be very difficult. It might take some time but they will recover.

What do you do while you wait for the -ve trades to recover?
Do you have other ways to take profit?
Or is basket closure your only TP method?

Cheers

I think there is some great work that has been done here and I would like to thank all.
My own observations after running A+SS and its predecessors are that I think there is possibly some further thought that needs to go into profit taking by basket %. I really like the princible of this however it seems to me that this runs into problems due to scaling ratios.
For example: Account size = £1000
Lot Size Per £1000 = 0.01
Basket Profit Target (either balence or equity) = 1%
All is fine and dandy until the balance/equity grows to £1800 for example, as the lot size is still 0.01

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
Totally agree the trade/dollop is a key setting especially up to $2000 there must be a sweet spot we need to find. Although it's coping atm I forsee trouble as you described.

Only basket atm but using Renes tools I may need some recovery as a safety net I intend to explain this later and post my V3 and V4 set files to encourage development and promote discussions of how to improve the EA. However EA is still still 100% winner as of this morning and I have managed to sort out the scaling up issue I had, exciting times ahead.

I see what you mean, I have actually chosen size 0.01 per $3000 of equity.
So my equity will increase but my trade size might not increase for a while.
In this case then TP in pips is better but at the moment the basket closure doesn't have this option.

I can't quite get my head around how a basket TP in pips would work bearing in mind the differing pip values across 20 or so pairs. I will try chrisdk2018 suggestion of running the £TP and %TP side by side and note the results. The problem may be getting 2x A+SS running exactly the same trades.

Ok as promised attached are my setfiles hopefully this will generate some activity :hi:

V3 which is a slightly modified version of my original V1 shown on this thread, it only has corrections to the % per day settings which now seem to work at 1% and alter as the equity/balance increase. I have 2 instances running one is approx £900 and one approx $9000 and both make 1% per day so the dollop/balance is adjusting correctly but may need tweaking. I have this on my live account.

V4 is a modified setfile with the following changed settings

Code: Select all

UsePeaky=true
PeakyTimeFrame=60
SsTimeFrame1st=1440
SsTimeFrame2nd=10080
SymbolMinTradesOpenForBasket=4
I have a few suggested challenges :-
  • 1. Add the code as here https://fxtestify.com/providers to enable the EA to join Rene and Thomas's awesome DB
    2. Work out the ideal setting for dollop of cash per trade size so the EA doesnt have unreachable or challenging targets. Or change the % per day.
    3. Work out some kind of recovery system if and when it gets into trouble (yet to happen), more on this later.
    4. Use peaky or not my V4 works but reaches the target slower than V3. But is it more reliable maybe?
    5. Find better settings than I have.
    6. Incorporate ATR into the fill the gap settings other EA's already can do this I think so is the code available?
    7. Add SS to all 4 timeframes at the moment its only on 2.
Good luck and thanks for any help/suggestions you come up with :smile:

Nev

Also thanks to Steve and the gang for making this possible :clap:

So here's the problem or not maybe, if you have balls of steel :shock:
Thanks Rene for the Indy

On April 6th a 26% drop of the equity and then awesome recovery! So do we need some sort of recovery system to kick in or not? If so what?
