This looks to be fantastic work BUT I have carefully followed ever step in set up of the EA and the indicators (matched the pairs sequence) however the slope values as displayed on screen simply DO NOT MATCH when the EA is run in conjunction with an Indicator :roll:

I have used the current EA from post 1 and June 5th release of Currency Slope Strength

I think that there is some problem in the array tallying

Please somebody have a look as I'm sure that I not the only member who cannot trade these until fixed

Thanks in advance :geek:

Thank you Paul. However, the same result as above. I have also reduced the number of base pairs against the USD. (USDCAD, GBPUSD, USDJPY, USDCHF, NZDUSD, EURUSD, AUDUSD) for Ea and indis. I tried to find a reason in the ea code also, but without success.

Ok, after re-entering all the pairs into the settings of indis and EA, everything was fine. All the windows gave the same values of the currency strength. After a few minutes EA values were exactly divided by two. After another few minutes, the values of EA window further diminished. This is probably somewhere in the continuous dividing of the new variables.

Steve,

Please add this to the init() procedure:

Code: Select all

   ...
   symbolCount = ArraySize(symbolNames);

   ArrayInitialize(currencyOccurrences, 0.0);
   for (int i = 0; i < symbolCount; i++ )
   {
   ...
The currencyOccurrence array has to be set to 0 on every initialization. Otherwise the currency Slope Strengths do not calculate right.

'ArrayInitialization(currencyOccurrences, 0.0);' is the only line to add.

Could you also consider changing the default 'PairsToTrade' extern string to:

Code: Select all

extern string	PairsToTrade = "GBPNZD,EURNZD,GBPAUD,GBPCAD,GBPJPY,GBPCHF,CADJPY,EURCAD,EURAUD,USDCHF,GBPUSD,EURJPY,NZDJPY,AUDCHF,AUDJPY,USDJPY,EURUSD,NZDCHF,CADCHF,AUDNZD,NZDUSD,CHFJPY,AUDCAD,USDCAD,NZDCAD,AUDUSD,EURCHF,EURGBP";
This to keep it in line with the NanningBob 10.2 system (and my indicators).

Paul

Great illustration, Paul!

Certainly trading strong against weak is optimal. But trading "strong against less strong" also works. If visual backtesting works, it looks to me like going long when the first currency is higher and going short when the first currency is lower works VERY well.

TOO well, in fact. Does this indicator repaint?

Hi Paul,

Thank you very much for the fix as well as your wonderful indis!

I also experienced the above described problems with Baluda EA. It currently has 2 opened trades after restarting the Empty4 terminal: "sell gbpjpy'; "sell gbpusd".

I have the following questions:

1. Does Baluda always enter 2 trades, as it is?
2. Does Baluda close the trades only when the condition is met. i.e., TMA slope above/below 0.4?
3. Does Baluda open 2 new trades as soon as it closes 2 previously opened trades?

Gary,

The SlopeStrength and CurrencySlopeStrength indicator do not repaint.

Then that's pretty impressive, considering what I'm seeing just looking at "which currency is stronger" and buying/selling the corresponding pair, always in. It's not perfect but it seems quite prescient sometimes, which is why I wondered about repainting.

I suspect you could do very well holding all 28 pairs open all the time, switching long and short depending on which currency was strongest. But trading only when the pairs are above/below 0.4 might be a better and safer approach.
