This method is not the same as the one you tried, this one gives R n R the ability to offset in a short term, medium term and long term mode. Remember the market moves in random motion but with intent, at a time R n R could offset after 5 buy trades, or even 12 buy trades or 9 buy trades or even 15 buy trades, this helps the profit to vary and sometimes far higher than the loss trades closed, and the excess profit will help fight draw down to a great extent until a good swing comes along and wipe out the draw down and you are left with a sizeable equity.... :)

ok so what if number of trades to start offsetting was related to the imbalance between number of buy and sell trades?

For example if the difference in the number of buy and sell trades is 4 or less then we are happy with offsetting to start from 4 trades open.

Then for every + 1 in the difference we have + 1 for the offsetting. So if the difference is 8 we only offset from 8.

Just thinking out loud.. would this help?
Here is a youtube video posted by Remon Reffat (sell only) worth considering: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gG9j8s1AtoI. Splitting the EA into two with stop/resume button option as price near support and resistance would be a nice feature.

If the imbalance is more than x then it is recovery mode.
New experimental version in post 1 that adopts this idea. Details in post one. Something to test on demo while we can't live trade.

This is going back over very old ground to where it all started. We've moved on.

........ I've setup a few tests this week for anyone interested:

magic 0: RnR original

magic 1: Imbalance Exp RnR

magic 2: RnR TJF with M15 trend hedge only when imbalance is 20 or more

magic 10: RnR original with manual direction (long or short only following H1 trend arrow in direction of D1 CSS until opposite; both long and short all other times).

it's a 100k demo account so will be fun to leave it alone over Brexit and see what flies or dies.

Steve, is there a way to force RnR to use a 'new' lotsize other than do a NuclearCloseAll?

You could always tell it to in the normal way.

Agreed, but when active orders are open, the EA won't change lotsizes.
I know this is intended by you. RnR just barely ever is running flat and resets itself.
It just seems counter-productive to close an open basket for the sake of running higher lotsizing.

............. quick update:

"Imbalance" Exp still in the lead for closed profit and shortly after the peak of today's move up currently has a total of just 15 positions open instead of 32 for RnR original. This is only one snapshot but looking promising so far anyway :yahoo:
