CJ's work here needs no defending. However, since you care so much to hear what others think about it, I will venture to say this much: With this thread, CJ turned a handful of things in forex the right way up for me, so much so that they have become the corner stones of my trading. There may be one or two things in it that need qualifying this way or that, but as a whole, I am so much the better off for having been fortunate enough to gain access to it. It is for this reason that the man has a special place in my forex hall of fame! Without a doubt, this thread is a very special one of the many gems this forum is strewn with.

I'll say this also; do not take my word for it, or indeed, any one else's. That will be like walking on crutches whilst ignoring your own healthy limbs. If you do not need to read the thread again, maybe you should just ask yourself what YOU make of it and, letting that suffice, go your merry way from there.
------------
Pedigree i hope it didn't come out that i was negative to CJ, because it's totally the way around, i have him to thank for changing the way of trading for me 2, a real eye opening, im still reading it and i just love it so he should have all the cred for it.
Now when he have change my way of looking on chart i can add just as you said that there are things that can be added to fine tune it and i think i find small things here and there but i would never have seen it without CJ, so yet again THANKS TO CJ.

I just felt sorry that he quit and wondered if it he still was active, i hope this thread can continue anyway.

As far as I could tell it's mostly mostly VSA and patterns. I suggest searching for info on those. There's a lot to learn.

Many traders start off on forex as it's so accessible and then move onto regulated markets such as stocks or futures. VSA isn't really applicable on forex because volume on forex is only from your broker - it's like you're going through a proxy. That's probably why CJ went over to futures.

I would suggest to continue learning with forex until you can turn a profit and then when you have that think about moving over to regulated markets and bigger positions.
Sorry mate, my trip down the rabbit hole had and has nothing to do with VSA as you know it, or any other form of it. Part of the BARF thread used volume to look for price/volume exhaustion points...or reversals in other words.

Don't feel bad if you didn't "understand" things as you know them....very few, probably less than 1% of 1% even came close to grasping some of what I put forth here in this thread. Many people have trouble understanding the basics of what I was laying out so MOST never came close to the true understanding.... the fact that FOREX is NOT random, that price can be predicted and that I can do it.

If you can not understand the basics, you will never understand the final truth located within this thread. Most can not understand the basics because they CAN NOT accept or adapt to another way of thinking or looking at FOREX. You need do nothing else but LOOK at the chart patterns... and forget what you have been trained to EXPECT from lagging indicators.

It is as simple as this....The pattern that appears on a "tick" chart, no matter the tick count, will appear on the 1M and 5M charts as well....and then on the 15M, 30m, 1H, 4H,D1 and so on, BUT AT LATER TIMES IN THE CYCLE. I have proven this time and again, yet people fail to believe it because they live by "rules".

There are no rules in FOREX accept for the ones you are force fed by the money changers. These are the "rules" you live by but they are the ones I have seen through as nothing more than deceit, distortion and lies.

I no longer trade currencies at all....this was explained earlier but like a lot of people, they skip to the ends of the thread, looking for those A_B_C rules that don't exist. For 500 pages I have been telling you they do not exist. But believe what you will, it is your money to do as you please....at least you think it is.

If you were to go back and actually read why I quit trading FOREX, you will understand that I have amassed a sum of money, earned from FOREX, that can not be protected, when trading FOREX at the level I do in the US. I have already lost close to 100K in the shit bucket called PFGBEST, at the recommendation of many in the know, that they were one of the best to trade with in the US.

I have talked all along about exposing your money to the market....the less the better. In the US, it doesn't matter....in the hands of a forex broker is just the same as in the hands of a crook. They can walk out the door with all of it in a second and it's gone.

I started trading stocks, equities and options many years ago. I moved to FOREX for the leverage. So no, I did not go to futures, I went back to stocks....at least I am protected when I spread my funds across several brokers, via SIPA or FDIC.... as for FOREX in the US, it's protected by the Cat in the Hat....or NOBODY!! I have no use for volume when trading stocks as well.

If I really wanted to make SERIOUS money, I would have taken one of the many fund management jobs offered me. I don't need a job and left a job that would have paid me $1.2 million over the next 5-7 years... to stay at home and take care of my wife. This is my job. I actually get tired of people offering me money to manage for them. Why would I work for a commission on profits made when I can have the entire profit??? I fail to see why somebody who would offer me 10%, 20% of the "profits" I generate for them, would be a convincing argument for me to make them as a client. That's another reason I no longer post about trading forex.

Forex is still the same, they have just distorted the charts even more, so it's harder to see the same patterns. Should you have any questions on this, just go back a couple years and look at the 1m 5 min charts....and compare to today. The patterns are there as they have to be...the chart is the same as a history book.

History is not re-written except by the politicians in this country...at least they try to re-write it. Chart history is NOT re-written either. The story is told over and over, across each time frame, I don't care if you use 2m, 8m, 6h, 8h or 40day charts.... the information that was there from the 1st chart pattern, will repeat across ALL charts...it can't happen any other way.

I have spent 1000's of hours looking at charts....1000's! For those who say they don't have time to do this, I say forex is not for you, unless you have plenty on cash to burn. I have just about every chart picture I have ever taken, to save the patterns for future references. Even the ones I removed from several public sites from years ago. There are some up at several sites I no longer support and they will remain there as nobody has actually "really" seen or understand what they show. There have been a few who have been so close, so close.... but they still fail to let go of rule sets, so it's usually 1 step forward and 3 back. I am not interested in mentor-ships, coaching, teaching, dvds, cds , seminars or anything of the like. QUIT ASKING.

So there you go, a little voice from the past, that if listened to, might make your future a little brighter...

Best wishes and good trading

CJ

I take nothing as negative here. I'm glad you as well as others have found use with the info that is included within the thread. I advocate adding nothing to what I do....some things were tossed in to help as visual aids, like ADR high and lows, sessions makers, dead time etc because important things happen at certain times in the trading day. Once learned, and they become habit, aides are no longer needed. They become a crutch like lagging indicators and people begin to rely on the aide as opposed to their intuition.

Read the BARF pdf that Craig was kind enough to upload here at Steve's, for people in this thread to make use of. It kind of started me on my way.... all the while I thought it was some of the indicators or "aides" that I was using at the time, but it wasn't. None of them were or are needed.

There are many other charts posted at FXAW that some people here have no access to. As the author of those posts, I consider myself the owner of their content and would not be offended if they are copied here so long as they contain no proprietary information on Craigs work at FXAW. Most are old and his projects have moved well beyond what was contained on those charts. Those with dual memberships have my permission to re-post my charts here as well.

Well thank you for that CJ and i do seriously wish you the best and i do understand what you write, you have really been a true inspiration and eye opener. The reason i jumped to the end was just to see if you where still here, im still reading and will continue to do so, i haven't come to the part where you say goodbye, but i will.

If there was one thing more i would ask you, then it would be about brokers, do still think GP is the best out there?(i dont expect answer).

Thanks for replying anyway. :!!:

I can offer no opinion on a broker that I am restricted from using. I'm sure there are many here that can help with your questions, which would be better served in the GP thread.

As for US brokers, the ONLY one I would consider using is FXCM, as they will allow me to set up a segregated fund for my trading. I have spoken to them concerning this and they will do it for large funds.

Thanks, and good to know about US-broker since my twin brother lives in US and having a hard time finding a good one, ill pass this to him.

Great to see you CJ!

Ah yes, fracticality. That's a simple thing I'd forgotten about after getting carried away learning volume. The first chart I looked at after this thread I saw an opportunity. Just need to spot many to have the confidence. That's the key - practice in a sim or with very small amounts until confident.

Speaking of which,
I'd love to see some Youtube vids of the likes of Nanningbob, BoldTrader, CJ trading live or in a simulator. Quick to do, just camstudio, LFH simulator (or a better one) and youtube upload. Could be fun, don't be shy!

michosz:
I'm obsessed with VSA at the moment, forgive me. I'm giong to read CJ's summary .pdf in a mo to get back no topic. However,
If you get high volume in a small spread on reaching that trendline I would guess that would lower the confidence in the trendline holding. If you get volume spread out as we saw on that last pin then that seems like less of a problem.
At that point in the chart it looks as if we have been chipping away at supply resistance at the top so it feels like path of least resistance is up. The pin bar down isn't a satisfactory filling of that low volume area but that wouldn't put me off. Also, the slope is about 45 degrees which isn't particularly steep.

Does this sound like a fair commentary anyone?
Kinda reminds me of a 1,2,3 elliot wave sequence, getting steeper.. maybe as soon as it tries to go one steeper it will reverse?

good to hear from you again. Keep it simple is the easy way but all struggle with that in all types of work. I try to tell my kids God took care of the hard stuff (sun rises in the east sets in the west that is hard the rest we make hard). We all like rules we were raised with them and learned to break some and not others so to do anything without rules is a hard concept but once you do and just trade what you see not what others tell you you are free and pips go up. There is one thing for sure the market will move be forex or stocks or what ever it has to for the brokers to make there money. So think if it has to move sometimes like a car stuck in the mud it needs help so they give it help. Like a horse race that is fixed. Who cares as long as you know it is fixed and then figure out the fix you win. That is CJ's post to me in a nut shell. Go with the fix and the heck with everything else. I got burned by FXCM and they have offered me a settlement that is way to low but I do have a friend that trades large lots with them and has no problem
