I am testing and following along as well. I believe Shelley indicated that she had moved her Jumping Stop to 40.

Shelley: Are you liking the Stoch settings of 5,3,3 or 4,2,2 better?
I think she also mentioned one day that she changed RsiTmaTF to use the 1H TF but not sure if main chart is still 4H as if main chart was 1H then you wouldn't need to change RsiTmaTF but I do get more trades with main chart being on 1H. I'm testing this so we'll see the outcome in a few weeks.

A key aspect of trading is to know your objectives. Therefore, you and only you must decide what do you expect to achieve with any system. You must also understand various market conditions for which you should trade a system and the market conditions for which you should avoid a system, or modify it to suit the prevailing conditions.

Most often money is made by cutting losses short and letting profits run. However, there are times it is best to take profits early.

From your post, it seems right now it would pay (at least in your case) to take profit early. Or put break-even stops.

I think it is not quite fair to expect Shelley, or Mr. Hopwood, or any other generous contributor to provide answers to every little wriggle of the markets.

Good luck.

Dead right. Not only not quite fair, but impossible.

I am trading BASA 2c on both of my live accounts with GP and Cowboy IBFX Aussie.

GP today: c. -140 pips
Cowboy IBFX today: c. +140 pips.

Emblazon this upon your souls folks: different brokers = different feeds = different results.

Those you wanting Shelley's set files so you can replicate her success are baying at the wrong moon. The correct one is probably directly behind you and you are missing it completely.

Ok, here we go again. I really must try to make a hotkey for the next little bit so I can include it in every post I make.

Ready?

Here goes.

Just because a system/EA/EA-trading-a-system works for someone else DOES NOT automatically mean it will work for you, and to imagine it will merely makes you a dimwit. Unless you have taken 'ownership'. of the system or ea that is trading it for yourself (i.e. made it work for you in your own way), your trading will fail.

Guess how I know.

Sorry guys, but there is no way around this. There are so many variable at play in trading that developing a one-size-fits-all approach does not work. Those of you who succeed with BASA will do so because you have made him/her/it work for you.

Your best interests are served by learning to use BASA for yourselves. Those of you who expect others to do this for you will be disappointed and will lose money; go away and find a financially more rewarding pastime - perhaps hoarding pennies in a jar?

Thanks Shelley for confirming it, i wasn´t aware of that post...

Something else, could be broker feed difference the explanation why your live account is currently +10% and Demo1a is in negative territory, both using same settings?

Greetings!

This EA's settings are extremely conservative, taking very few trades. I will be adjusting the settings this weekend to enable the HalfLotsClosed function which I think will tip the balance into the positive.
I am also currently trading these settings on my Cowboy Cowboy Cowboy Go Markets Live Account (the demo is on Global Prime) since 19/8/13, with 12 trades being taken (the first few trades I cherry picked, then let the EA run on its own), 4 trades closed at BE, 2 @ SL and 6 trades closed at varying stages of profit for approx 7% gain on my account. This particular account is in a deep hole (courtesy of the beast), which I have been trying to dig out of for a long, long time and can't afford to trade aggressively with it. I'm hopeful these conservative settings will help me claw this account back into a much healthier position!

That's just nuts. I really don't understand that. Unless the EA is written as badly as the platform -- so e.g. it's sensitive to Empty4's buggy way of handling H4/D1/W1 candles -- then the results SHOULD (with reasonable software) be fairly similar. There may be some minor differences due to tick feed differences, etc., but -140 vs +140? No way. It's like sticking a thermometer into two pots of boiling water, and one reads +100C but the other is -100C.

But since we don't have reasonable software, if we insist on using Empty4 and EAs, then we're apparently stuck with this abomination that delivers seemingly-random results from one broker to the next. How is anyone supposed to say "this EA seems to work, I'll give it a go" unless he personally tests each and every EA himself? How is a tester supposed to know if their EA is any good, when their failed forward test might be totally successful on somebody else's broker?

What a disaster. Yeesh.

In this case Gary I would assume it is primarily because the strategy opens trades on the opening of an H4 candle and guess what.....same old same old - Cowboy IBFX is GMT, GP now - GMT+2/3 I believe.

Nope. Definitely isn't. Includes some of your code so it cannot be.

Timing is erything. I now have a GP basket at c. +50. Cowboy IBFX Aussie has nothing.

Given that GP is gmt + 2 and Cowboy IBFX Aussie isn't and that BASA trades at the open of a new candle except for stacks, this is hardly a surprise.

I repeat. You guys have to learn to use BASA for yourselves. The developers of this bot cannot do your thinking for you.

Can someone tell me how to set up hotkeys for Firefox please? I need one that types "I repeat. You guys have to learn to use BASA for yourselves. The developers of this bot cannot do your thinking for you."

Hi,

Just a question: is this a valid re-entry on cadjpy short? Thanks!

No insult intended to your coding, Steve -- there are some things that are hard NOT to do badly in Empty4. Like the @%#%!!! repainting issue. The way Empty4 is designed, it's damn difficult to avoid. The H4/D1/W1 candle formation is another braindead Empty4 issue that creates havoc.

It's usually possible (if sometimes painful) to write these things so they don't pay attention to greater-than-H1 candle formation. If you do that, I would expect them to perform more consistently regardless of the broker timestamp.

Out of curiosity, Steve: Cowboy Cowboy Cowboy  on GMT did +140, GP on GMT+2 did -140. Is that fairly consistent, with CCC steadily outperforming GP? Or over the long haul, do the two of them perform roughly equally?

Actually, GP is currently on GMT+3, as they follow NY DST. They should switch back to GMT+2 on November 3rd, as per this schedule.
