EDIT: It seems it was trading hours that was preventing it from working in the tester. Anyway I made them blank and it works.

Can someone just enlighten me very quickly why we would set at a 0.10 to 0.25 window over lets say 24 hour trading? Just briefly what would the bot do in each situation.

I manually backtested using vertical lines to mark the start points of the monthly, weekly and daily trigger point. I only did it for one pair though. I didn't mean to use start tester, but I guess you could to see it fire on visual, not sure how accurate that is though, use it at your own risk.

Hi Brian, what insights did you find?
My intention was to see how price behaves after it triggers, I only did one pair as it is time consuming. I used vertical lines and didn't track profit or anything, just a visual look. I had two brain farts while doing this.

Use a dynamic target - I had an EA a long time ago that set the target using either ATR or bollinger bands (can't remember which one). So for a buy target, the target would move with each new candle. All this does is get you out of the trade when a nice price spike happens to your advantage.

For buys, the trigger is a pending buystop order that keeps moving up with each (previous) daily candle until it is filled. I wondered if entering a 4 hour demand zone would work, this would get you in earlier BUT if the zone doesn't hold its a small loss.I didn't look into any further yet. Need time to do this and make a rule set to follow. Next time I'll load up SSSR and check.

The main reason I'm doing this manually is because this will work until it doesn't. For example, last summer was quite dull, I wonder if chop would chip away at the profits and mindset! This works really well right now, I want to prepare for what's to come if that's even possible. Understanding how the bot deals with different markets will keep us in the game.

So my insight thus far is not extraordinary, need screen time. If anyone does try this on start tester and finds that the entries match real world, I'd rather use that to mark the entries, and disable targets and stops all together, and increase max trades to 10. This would give a great visual for entries. I just don't know if it can trusted for accuracy, and I have not checked that yet (maybe start tester works for this purpose???)

This is just silly, According to my own long term test, completely unattended, running on my VPS this EA was going the right way when the SNB event happened - how can it possibly be "a matter of opinion" :?

So it would seem the logic behind the approach is basically sound and AFAIK the gringoh dashboard is not adding anything to the basic logic in the way of extra filters.

That is a thought worthy of consideration.

Next week I will produce a shell with PC's entry as the core filter - will not be hard to do. Coders will be able to experiment quickly and easily from there. For example, PC's core has a buy setup, so trade triggers can be whatever else the coder/coder-commissioner wants to play with; Stoch reaches/exits certain levels; x MA crosses y MA; Volumes hit x etc.

Back to PP, believe me noobs the markets will not always cooperate as they did this week, so don't get too excited. Even knowing this, I enjoyed upping the demo balance by just shy of 20% in three days - and flat for the weekend.

You will see that I have done a bit of pruning here. Absolutely no criticism intended of any of the participants. It is just that we frequently tell people to read the whole thread, so 4 pages or so of discussion about the merits of expanding PP is not helping them.
