Thanks Jren. My 1st goal was to achieve a consistently profitable EA (trade) entry setting and now that I have achieved that, I am working on the exit strategy and MPTM setting will definitely be one of them. Shalom :hi: |

First of all, I have been following for some time and my thanks to all who have created this tool are well overdue - thank you! As I see it, this is performing brilliantly and doesn't need more and more tweaks. The fundamental question for the EA is can we identify when to turn it off and can we automate that? Until then, the low risk option is to manage regularly manually and follow the news calendar. I feel it out performs my ability to trade manually and really it is not possible to ask for more than that from an EA. Two thoughts - I experienced the sudden reversal a couple of weeks ago but was away from my platform so didn't see it happen or how the dashboard behaved. I am not sure whether there is any way to simulate with back testing. Was there a moment where a certain number of currencies had flipped from strong to weak or visa versa which would have signalled a "black swan" event and could have closed all positions, preventing larger losses, and switched off until the dashboard had completed a re-balancing? My other thought is more out of the box and might be too complex although experience tells me that if it is a good idea, with work a simple way will evolve. MAD is handling a mass of data - can we go one step further and simulate how the future should look? As soon as there is a deviation from that future, something has happened - this could be used as an automatic signal and it would be up to the trader to decide what level of deviation triggers close and shut down. Alternatively, it can be a manual signal and then possible to review, identify the cause, take action and trade accordingly - close, hedge etc. Hope these comments are helpful - if not please file accordingly |

The parameter TimeBetweenTrades, is the time (in seconds), the EA needs to wait after a previous trade of a particular symbol was closed, before a new trade for that same symbol can be opened. So, yes, it looks at the OrderCloseTime() of the previous trade of the same symbol. |

I also agree that this tool is performing brilliantly and with the developments that a few of us are testing behind the scenes as I have said already there really are so many ways to trade this thing. George and Leon are both correct with their different approaches and both making lots of pips with tried and tested strategy in their own way using this tool which is what this is about. There is a lot of talk about pullbacks and the question is when does a pullback become a reversal on the timeframe you are trading and what risk and trade management settings will you use to deal with it? If you are trading a longer timeframe then yes you will get caught at the end but after making 1000pips with trades into the trend you accept the 200 you must give back at the end each time with pleasure. Of course if this just happens to be your first live trade with the wrong money management it could also be your last and your perspective would be very different! Equally on a shorter term strategy a 200pip loss would never be acceptable so where do you draw the line in the sand? When the conditions which created our trade entry are no longer present how long do we want to stay in the trade? If price has broken a trendline against our trade at an area of support / resistance or the lower timeframe MA's are crossing back then we must get out whether we are in profit or loss. Then we will be ready to trade the next signal and George gave a great example of this a few pages back where early losses were quickly turned into profits when a pullback became a reversal and he caught the new moves. Perhaps it is time to start discussing exits in more detail and lets post some chart examples next week whether profit or loss and whether manual or trade manager. It will be interesting to see and compare how the more experienced people here are closing their pips and I think this will help everyone else on this thread since the original brief of using this tool to get great entries is now pretty much nailed whatever your trading style. Have a great weekend everyone. |
