TJF,
Thank you for the update. Are you trading the same currency with the EXP version and RnR? Appreciate if you can share your set file for the EXP version.

Is the MagicNumber=0 refers to the Standard Mode turn to True and the other Recovery Mode to False?
Thank you for your assistance.

So that leaves the original version (magic 0) as the most profitable and the Imbalance EXP version (magic 1) as the lowest drawdown. I took various snapshots during and after Brexit for my own analysis and the Imbalance EXP had approximately half the imbalance and half the open positions immediately following Brexit compared to the original version. From the trade report we can see that it actually traded 50% of the total lots compared with the original version and provided 74% of the total profit. This seems like a worthwhile difference to me and I am now trading live with this imbalance EXP set.
Just realized I had two of the recovery settings wrong on the previous set file. Now corrected in the original post and here. Sorry to everyone that already downloaded it.

Thanks to all the masters who came up with this piece of art Rinse 'n Repeat ,
I love watching it trade I believe it is a fantastic system ,
only thing as mentioned previously once a trend is established it gets really tricky , today I got bombarded by buy orders while trend is very bearish but what about HGI giving no signal?
Did any one encounter that ?
My first test was on GBPJPY running flawlessly but I got adventurous and wanted to test another pair so I placed GBPNZD for toay other small account of 500 ( yes it's on purpose as I want to test the SL of 20%)
My regards to all of you and good luck
N.B sorry for not so good language

In order for Trend hedge trades to be taken you must enable the TJF hedging function and choose the number of trades to call imbalance before the HGI trend signals are taken.
However if you have read this whole thread you will see that this function was a failed experiment in it's current form. HGI signals work better with a direction filter like CSS or MAs and/or a grid to average in.
I am currently testing RnR and HGBnG (split into buy only and sell only EA's) running together in an attempt to find a more elegant solution to reducing drawdown and maximizing profit. This gives Buy Trend, Sell Trend and Range charts for each pair and I am testing offsetting independently (with the built in offsetting for each EA) and collectively (thanks to Rene for an adapted version of GridMaster to do this).
Assuming this week of testing finishes as planned I will open a new thread over the weekend to discuss, test and refine this multi EA approach since it embodies work from three separate threads.
Stay tuned

Thanks TJF,
For what its worth.
I've been trading with various grid traders for a few years now. All of them are designed to either work well in a ranging market and then die from draw down when price trends (leaky toilet) or vice-versa--they make money when price trends but then bleed to death from a thousand little whipsaw paper cuts
If we end up with a strategy or a combination of EA's that can trade profitably whether price ranges or trends and hedge each other regardless of how price behaves then that's pretty much the big kahuna and every traders dream right there.
There's always been grid traders that can trade either market (ranging or trending) but not together. When I read your post I had one of those "duh--why didn't I think of that" moments. Winston Churchill "“Out of intense complexities, intense simplicities emerge” .
I'm waiting with great anticipation and expectation to see what results you've had using the 3 EA's. Please let me know wherever I can help. Thanks again for your valued contribution.

The offsetting in RnR and GridMaster works great, but even the best offsetting can't cope with an increasing number of trades going in the wrong direction. It takes 3-4 winners to offset 1 loser, but winners and losers come in an even pace.
It "just" takes some smart gridproducer with a directional bias to change the odds in our favour.
I'm thinking in the line of;
- an SMA on a small TF with buy above and sell below
- HGBnG with stop and limit orders on a small TF like M5 or M15 to get a decent number of trades
- Pipcuisers PPS which takes the prevaling trend into account
- etc
We will get there, I'm sure of that.

.. this is where the advantage of using a separate EA for Range and Trend helps because the lot size can be different for each. With my testing I feel the lot size can be increased in favor of HGBnG because it is profitable with a wider grid size than RnR and only adding positions in the direction of a developing trend with stop and limit orders is less scary for drawdown. In this way it is possible to offset the positions building on the wrong side with RnR when price moves.Gertje » Thu Jul 07, 2016 7:14 pm wrote:The offsetting in RnR and GridMaster works great, but even the best offsetting can't cope with an increasing number of trades going in the wrong direction. Both my demos (offsetting independently and collectively) are now all positions closed for the week with decent profit although the results have surprised me a little since the offsetting independently has delivered substantially more.
This joint test only represents the last two days so is far from conclusive.
Within the offsetting independently group I used both RnR Exp Imbalance and RnR original both trading 0.01 lots. RnR Exp Imbalance returned 20% more profit using the set-file I posted previously than RnR original. .. not bad for 2 days trading so again Nice One Bruster for this version!
With the offsetting collectively group I could only use one instance of RnR so choose the Exp Imbalance version with 1000 trades to start offsetting so that the offsetting is essentially disabled and set the lot size as 0.02 to equal the two versions at 0.01 in the other group.
I used a multi magic number version of GridMaster thanks to Rene to offset between RnR and HGBnG (split into Buy only and Sell only) and was also testing CSS filtering on different time frames to see what was best.
Overall the offsetting independently group brought three and a half times the profit of the offsetting collectively group! This surprised me although looking at the results it was the HGBnG trades that missed out when traded with collective offsetting because Gridmaster was closing trades as soon as they have enough profit to close a loser whereas these same trades went on to deliver greater profit left alone in the independent group.
It is clear when looking at the individual results for the independent group that when price is moving HGBnG M5 set can actually deliver similar profit to RnR which is credit to Steve for creating such a well sorted EA.
What is nice to see is that their independent results do not cancel each other out and absolutely do reduce overall draw down during a strong move. Occasionally when I checked the accounts following news the overall position was at times (almost) perfectly hedged with 2 or 3 HGBnG grids just about balancing RnR nicely.
There are so many more options to trade this way .. perhaps looking at DottyBot or any other Trend EA alongside RnR and since this brief test with HGBnG has been a success I will open a thread over the weekend for further discussion and development of this idea.

(top chart below is offsetting collectively and bottom is independently.... )
