PC, I'm confused... I thought the logic behind the trading strategy and therefore this EA, is that you need a previous month and previous week to be in the same direction, before anything else can happen....I'm not in or have any pendings for EURNZD because EA is saying NM1 (previous month) is down and W1 (previous week) is up.... What version of the EA are you using....? Admittedly I'm using a older version provided (i think by GertJi) as i could not get 1j trading at all....but you only need to go the the charts and you can see that last month was down and the last two week prior to the one we are in have been up.... It maybe that the EA wont trade this pair for some time (or until next month) as it may be in an uptrend for a week or so, then begin another cycle down, however if price turns around and we get below 1.4878 (848 pips from current price) this week, then we would have a down previous month and a down previous week at the start of next week.... but given it's has taken two weeks to get to here, this seems unlikely.. these are my current trades and pendings.... Regards Wiggy |

What you have said is all correct. No need to be confused - last month for EURNZD on GP was down BUT only by a few pips, on other brokers it was up...only by a few pips. That's just broker difference for you. Cheers, Dave. |

Yes I had the same thought this morning when I saw EURNZD shooting off up... My monthly is down by 7 pips! Still, the other trades are doing ok However I do have one question. What do people think could have caused a "Rouge Trade" event on my GBPAUD this morning. I should have had a pending buy triggered but it seems that something about the stop caused the EA to initiate its safety mode. I've got 6 other live trades and 5 pendings all placed with the same EA settings. I have the defauly 400TP and 150SL set in version 1L The relevant Experts and Journal entries are attached but has anyone any idea what kicked this one out? Thanks |

I'll take one guess and say it was the widening of the spread that stopped the trade from going through so consider yourself lucky. The GA in particular has had some very high spreads - I am seriously considering not trading it any longer. Yesterday I got into a buy stop when the price action was nearly 100 pips away but the spread widened to 95.6 so I got taken in - needless to say it turned out to be a loser with very little room to move on that trade |

What broker is that? You get ridiculous spreads for all brokers end of the week but apart from that 100 pips for GBPAUD is crazy! |

That was on a live GP account. In fairness it was within the first 3 minutes on a Monday morning. I have now set the EA to not place any pending orders for 1 hour after rollover so that should take care of that issue however I did notice a spread of 62.3 on the EURAUD during the RBA news announcement. It was also at that time that GA spread increased to 31.6 also prematurely taking me out of a profitable trade. You simply cannot trade pairs with spreads like that. Placing the bot in spread-hunt mode really does not help when the pending orders area already in place. |

That happens with unexpected news as there is no-one willing to buy/sell at the level so spreads widen. One solution is simply to not have tight stops - imo tight stops will kill any account sooner or later. I am still in the GBPAUD trade - my stop was 150 pips and I am now +165 pips on that trade. Actually having re-read your post it seems like maybe you trade Mondays? I don't and I would want to test that for a long time before doing so - certainly before going live. Cheers, Dave. |

Yes - I trade Mondays - I just can't understand why I would not place a pending order based on the previous day/week candle. To me it makes no difference whether it is a Monday or a Tuesday. I can understand the logic behind closing pending trades on a Friday so they are not triggered on a Monday morning gap but I have no issue with placing pendings on a Monday. I have actually increased my stops to 200 pips as (looking back on old trades) it appeared that a few trades closed out at 100 pips then reversed and went into profit. I do employ a 50 pip JS and I think that it probably is an issue when the spreads widen that far. I may need to re-think that for the GBP pairs and up the JS to 100 instead. |

Thanks all, - It looks like it was spreads. There was a 300pip spike at 3:30am and it looks like this triggered my pending trade but the spread was so wide at the time that the trade was imediately stopped out. I thought it was an error in setting the stoploss but it looks like it was the speed between the open and close of the trade that kicked in the safety feature. Unfortunately I have re-set my EA so don't have the average spread figure but it must have been more than 150! I looked at other AUD and KIWI pairs and it seems they all had similar issues with spread widening - the broker just couldn't cope with a spike like that. EURNZD went to 243pips! - on a 120 pips spike. GKFX if anyone is interested. Thanks for your help |

You may be correct re. Mondays but you may not be. I can understand your thinking re. the previous day being a Friday or Monday making little difference but here are some things that may or may not affect it: - People like to take profits on Fridays so often the price action can reflect this and can be inconsistent with the rest of the week. - You are using a day as a pull back that is also part of the same week you are measuring ie. Last month + week down but last day of the same week was up so short trade is valid. - Perhaps most importantly, Pipcruiser tested this manually/traded it live for a long time, without trading Mondays and it was very successful. It might work well - I really don't know - I would just be wary of testing it live. Each to their own though! Good luck. Cheers, Dave. |
