Quick question on news trading, I never really got the hang of it.
Do u guys anticipate the news, or trade with it?
I.e. adding positions(stops/limits) before it or decide on it after the data has been released?
I find that if I add before, I'd most likely go for a loss, but if I add after following the initial direction, it reverses and I take a hit, too.

Any suggestions, tips?

News trading comes from experience. You could see the big boys setting up the small guys. Last week, USD and CAD good news, they make the euro go up. This week USD and CAD good news spike the euro and then BAM kill zone. I have seen them do it time and time again. I have learned that hard way to look for the 2nd move when you see this happen. Guys who try to learn trading news fundamentals will cuss and swear when they see good news do the opposite. I have learned to watch for the 2nd or 3rd set of good news and take the ride. Whenever I see ridiculous stories at FF of Euro breaking this up or that up I start looking for the Euro fall. This time its was these stories all week of breaking 1.40 up. I knew long term fundamentally the EURO isnt ready for that. Soooooooooooo when I saw them break the upper bands of the TMA on the 4H chart I place several pendings below back inside the TMA and set a sell trade and bingo. So Eur.usd, eur.cad, eur/nzd, I did very well. Gbp.usd, gbp.cad, gbp.nzd. I made profit but it didnt do the same thing. So over all last night I added over 1% to my account.

To those who have followed me on my journey with 10.0 I did a study last night of my progress. I have averaged almost exactly 5% a month for the last 3.5 years. What that means is I have 7 times my money in the last 3.5 years. If I do that again over the next 3 years I can pay cash for a nice house and a new car. Then I can retire. So those are my long term goals.

Hi naningbob thanks for these 10.7 and 10.9 great systems, its amazing what you can see with the alignments of the weekly ,daily, and 4hrs.They give the most pips. The CSS works great, has anyone tried putting a keltner channel set on period 10 on the charts ?.It seems to show when to pull the triggers, just an observation.

My viewpoint is 10.7 is meant to supplement what you already know how to use. If that is your favorite Indi then it will compliment it. I use 10.7 with 10.6 and TMA. Works great. SlowKey is using it with a Gann ribbon system. Others are using it to work with ATR lines. It compliments and clarifies with your already existing system that you are trading with. So if Keltner is working for you and want to improve it, I am sure it will.

I have tried TMA bands and ATR channels for a while and finally I think I will stay with TMA. Just the current timeframe for all periods and the weekly band added to the 4H as an OB/OS reference. EDSEL 240/60 stays as the main directional part of the system. I added a 21 EMA to the 60 to draw a dynamic resistance zone (ribbon) in the middle of the band. The 15 LWMA could work in a very close way but I prefer the 21 EMA as it seems a little less reactive.

I tried several settings and finally I have fallen in a pseudo mystical setup that works very accurately. I was reading about Gann these days and knowing about his fascination for old egyptian mathematics. I´m a big fan of backgammon and I remembered that this game is known as "The egyptian game". It seems it was already played in ancient Egypt and even appears in some hieroglyphics. I picked up backgammon numbers to set the MAs and the multipliers.

We have 24, 12, 6, 3 as the main inputs.

MAs:
240 LWMA 24x10
60 LWMA 24x2 +12
21EMA 12+6+3

TMA BANDS
Period 48 24x2
Multiplier 2.4

This is how it looks Edsel Backgammon:

I am speechless, in a good way.
That screen looks amazing!
I've been doing a lot of reading on the forums lately, namely CJ and 10.7/9.
Haven't started on Gann yet, but its on my list.
Some things just jumped out at me from the screen you have there.
BTW, is the extrapolation an indi or did u just draw it on yourself?
And the window on the top right, mind sharing the indi for it?

Yes, it´s an extrapolator. I dont´take it too seriously: I used Fourier before (that consider price as if it was a sound or heat wave). Now I´m trying the Burg method, just to compare with Fourier´s. I never take a trade based on the extrapolator forecast, but sometimes I let some trades pass scared by it.

The right indi comes from the Sonic thread in FF. It belongs to the last official template. It is named "trade levels" and after some fight with the settings it helps very much to clean the chart of the order lines. Now, they appear only in the shifht area (in case you want drag the levels)-. You can even mute all the order lines in the rest of the chart if you want an ultraclean one.

Allorente told some days before he can´t stand so many lines cluttering the chart and he had deáctivated them in the Empty4 graphics options, playing a kind of blindfolded game. This is not so extreme, but it helps to do more bearable the lines.

(BTW, the trade shown in the chart was a fast CT scalping during the assian session. I took some pips and will wait a retrace to go long)

Never seen an extrapolator on a chart, but I wouldnt bet my money on it, either.
Definitely gonna go look up that indi on Sonic after i get off work, screen looks great uncluttered!
Well, back to work with some reading in between

Hi Zen.. Very interesting ! Thanks for sharing.. Btw, which version of the TMA are you using ? Care to explain why you would prefer the TMA over ATR ?

Cheers !
