Hehe. I expect people to be able to work out for themselves whether their lot size allows part-closure. If they cannot even do that for themselves they are in real trouble trying to trade Forex.

Working out IF lot size allows part-closure is of course beginners stuff, and certainly I can do it myself. But since my CPU is only at 5% and we are using such a nice coded EA that already does the work for us, a simple if statement shouldn't hurt, but give us even more convenience :D

My Cowboy Cowboy IBFX (gmt, I think) play account took a chfjpy buy at 12.00 broker time on the 14th Oct. At 19.56 the same day, half the trade closed and the stop moved to BE. The leftover closed at 9.00 the following day after the market tanked.

By comparison, my GP (gmt + 3) took the trade 2 (3? don't know) hours later and so missed the move upwards that allowed the lock in of profits that the Cowboy Cowboy IBFX account caught. Two days later, the trade is still grunging around. It has been up a bit, then down not far above my stop loss - and costing me swap.

What a difference a couple of hours makes.

This is why I dislike the H4 timeframe and don't use it at all in my (manual) trading. I'm convinced that the different H4 start times only afford opportunities for brokers to sow confusion. H1 is the most "honest" timeframe, together with D1 - when the day starts at 17:00 EST, i.e.. NY close.

Yep. I had this on my live accounts and have closed them to be flat at the weekend.

I have left it running with 2e on my demo hoping that we will get some stack trades to test the functionality.

Only 2 trades this week - that chfjpy that I mentioned earlier and the ac. Granted, the cj on my GP account took a lot longer to get going because it entered later but eventually it took off, closed half at BE and the remainder following a retrace.

Early days, but I am starting to buy into Shelley's idea of not many trades, so bump up the lot size. At the mo, I am at double the lot size I would normally trade on accounts with the equity I have.

I just did a quick check. We started developing this bot at the end of July. I am still trading it live with hope for the future, not some vague prayer that it might eventually dig itself out of the poo. Given that most of the bots I code do not even hit one of my demo accounts, this has to be something of a record.

Interesting to see that Andy has enjoyed success ootb on the H1 and that you prefer this time scale.

I feel an H1 demo coming on next week. Shelley conceived this as an H4 strategy because it suited her best and worked for her. Exploring and expanding on ideas is what threads like this one is all about. Lots of different people can explore far more ideas than can the strategy originator.

I had 3 trades this week on my live account euraud, gbpaud & nzdusd...euraud has closed in profit, 2 more still open - nzdusd is in profit & gbpaud is currently in drawdown

Gbpchf closed for a loss earlier in the week and nzdusd closed for a loss the week before...They are the only 2 cosed losses since last week of Aug on my live account.

Given the markets are still not trending very strongly...trades seem to take off and then just hit a wall, which is why I started taking the profit as soon as I could. In these conditions, which are generally not optimal for BASA, getting these smaller regular profits is key to keeping us in the game and if the markets do ever settle down and really start to get into some longer term trends I'm pretty sure BASA will carve it up!

I completely agree...please keep testing different parameters and time frames and sharing here on this thread and thank you to those who have already shared considerably :D

As Steve said the H4 timeframe suits me best, especially for manual trading, which is how I started trading BASA initially (until I roped Steve in :lol: ) but I have already partially ventured down the H1 path, with one of my demo's taking the signals from RSI_TMA indicator off the 1H chart.

I will try and find time this weekend to set up a demo on 1H similar to Andy as well and see what happens! Hmmm...this has really got me thinking now :shock:

I agree with the idea of using H1 instead of H4. I suspect you will see a lot fewer differences from one broker to another if you don't have the H4/D1 differences caused by broker timestamp.

and as it turns out he actually made his first ever century...he retired at 103 not out :D
