Sorry Ron, but you are on a completely different wavelength to everyone else here - maybe you need to re-read the thread from start to finish.

Live with them and refrain from reporting them. I will sort out thingies when they occur at my end. Bugger all I can do when stuff happens elsewhere.

I am serious guys, and ask around about what happens when I get cross. PC and I tested this stuff out for a while before posting the ea. If something goes wrong, assume it is your platform, broker or you who have got something wrong, not me.

From here on in, I will merely delete so-called bug reports. I am not interested until they occur on my platform.

One of our members sent me a pm earlier asking if it is ok to send PP to an external EA optimising service; he is happy to pay the bill and then share the results here. I just settled down to reply but see that I accidentally deleted the pm.

I will answer publicly as I do not even remember whom the member is. He included a link to the site and it looks as though this service costs $80 a pair.

I am not going to refuse my permission to the member - he could have gone behind my back and done this anyway and I would have been none the wiser.

I am going to discourage him as strongly as I can because I feel it would be a waste of money. Our own deeply unloved Crapergy Tester has its own optimisation features - and great fun they are to play with if you are utterly devoid of the motivation to do anything useful on a wet Sunday afternoon. The results of said optimisation are as meaningless as any other forms of backtesting are, and for all the usual reasons (http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 83#p108983 if you do not know why).

I suppose it is possible that the site owners have actually built up a database of tick-by-tick prices, swap costs, commission and spread and are worth the fee; I would need some convincing.

Feel free to chip on with your thoughts on this folks. Not about backtesting per se, because I shall simply delete your post, but about using the service offered. Perhaps the member who sent me the pm could post the link to the site here so the rest of you can have a look?

I will give it a day or so for people with views about this to post, then delete the section so it is not an irritant for people joining the thread further into the future.

Pipcruiser, WHEN YOU HAVE TIME, NO HURRY.

i just completed reading whole thread. Looking for recommended pending buffer pips. No luck. Please advise your latest take on pending buffer pips, and if that varies by pair, elaborate on pending buffer pips per pair. many thanks, ron
OH and many thanks for sharing this magic system.

Hi Steve

I'm not the guy who PMed you but I'm pretty sure that the site which sells an optimization service for EAs is this one :

http://www.alwayswiththetrendea.com/for ... n-service/

See the paragraph titled : "ANY EA Analysis and Optimisation service" in the page.

The cost for this service is $80 per EA per pair.

Note : I never used this service and have no relation whatsoever with this site.

Cheers,
Didier

Hi.
The back test had me thinking. Let’s say the back test can be perfect. Looking at the current setting and run it on EURUSD. This will give you a chart as attached. With the first glance this looks like a very good strategy, until you start to analyse closely what you are looking at. There was a down trend from 2005 to 2007. This only recovered in 2008.

Now I for one what to make money preferably every month. This would have led for me to make no money for 4 years.

Not a very good system then??

Now at this same time EURJPY made a profit between 2005-2008. Not enough to cover the dip but surly there would have been more currencies that made a profit!

My point is that paying $80 will be a waist as this is a system that relay on the complete market and not an individual currency.

I would however suggest that we look at the SL & TP, as I think a set SL &TP will not work with all currencies as there volatility and movement are different. Maybe something like ATR of another indicator to determine this!!?

Ok, I see there is a totally understandable and commendable lack of interest in that so-called 'optimisation' site. Well done guys; I am proud of you. I note that even the less experienced of you here are learning about this so-called backtesting stuff. That is excellent news.

So, here is what I really think. Only an idiot would part with an email, let alone actual cash, for such a so-called 'optimisation' service. I only hope that the sender of the pm, whose identity I now know again but whom I protect for the sake of his self-respect, has second third fourth and all other thoughts about using this 'service'.

I am drawing a line under all this and will delete further posts about it. Thanks to those of you who did participate in the discussion. Said discussion was short so I will leave it in place for the informing of later comers who happen across it.

I have PPoS on my tiny live account and am waiting to see what happens at the open of the next GP D1 candle. We might need to amalgamate these two threads. Let's wait and see what happens?

I totally agree. But probably best to continue this talk in PC's approved PP Playing Around thread.

EA's can't be left alone, most of us know that (perhaps we learned the hard way). Forex is very trendy, famous for it. You just have to watch the charts and remove it when you suspect the trend is halting. Just pull out to the weekly chart, maybe draw some lines, and it might slap you in the face.
PC was trading manually, so this would have been part of the process. Would be enlightening to hear his approach for selecting the trade pairs to focus on. I think this EA is now all about letting it do its thing but keeping your eyes on the trending pairs.
