Do you actually look at whether the 50 MA is trending up or down? From you chart, while the 50 MA may have started to turn down a bit, what matters seems to be that your bar opened below it.
Let me see if I can restate this (again :>). Let's assume we aren't evaluating this duck until duck #1 crosses and for this example (to match your picture) we assume it just crossed down. So, Duck #1 says sell. Now we wait until price opens below the 50 MA. When that happens we look at the chart. If over the last 3-5 bars (minimum of three?) price has made LH's and LL's, we've got a downtrend, so we're going to evaluate this duck as a sell.
I've changed the indicator so that Duck 2 uses the rules above. I'd recommend you drop in on the chart, set Duck = 2 and see how it compares with the signals you see on the chart. It's very strict above the HHHL and LHLL evaluation, perhaps too strict.

George, double thumbs-up! Mate, you are an absolute -- '
LEGEND'. That indi is so
SWEET!
I humbly apologise! I hope you aren't going to scream in frustration and tear your hair out at this.
The 50MA really only applies to the M5 chart!
Because David only trades the M5 and, in Eminis, the PA tends to change direction 'at the drop of a hat', he uses a 50MA to give a quick heads-up as to whether he is trading pro or counter trend.
If counter - he 1/2ves his TP!
The only reason I put the 50MA on the chart was a case of 'Monkey see, Monkey do'. When I changed over to Forex I started with the same TF as I was used to in Emini... and simply duplicated the same system. Because the D1 dovetailed beautifully into my morning business hours I, lazily, did the same - without thinking.
George, quite frankly; I concentrate on the 3 and the 8MA - in parallel with the PA. I
know that when all 3 MAs are in line is best... BUT... I have found in practice that, if I wait until then, I leave quite a few pips on the table - and I am not yet comfortable
(that well-off financially
) doing that.
I don't use the 50 when trading the D1. The TP, SL & TS rules work beautifully. Thinking about it; I wouldn't either on the H4 or H1. I'd use the D1 rules on them too!
George, this is why I love working with you. Every time I read your reply I know I am
(metaphorically) doing a 'Star Trek' voyage
(going where I have never gone before). Thank you for your patience!
Hope this answer makes sense?
Cheers.
