George, double thumbs-up! Mate, you are an absolute -- 'LEGEND'. That indi is so SWEET! I humbly apologise! I hope you aren't going to scream in frustration and tear your hair out at this. The 50MA really only applies to the M5 chart! Because David only trades the M5 and, in Eminis, the PA tends to change direction 'at the drop of a hat', he uses a 50MA to give a quick heads-up as to whether he is trading pro or counter trend. If counter - he 1/2ves his TP! The only reason I put the 50MA on the chart was a case of 'Monkey see, Monkey do'. When I changed over to Forex I started with the same TF as I was used to in Emini... and simply duplicated the same system. Because the D1 dovetailed beautifully into my morning business hours I, lazily, did the same - without thinking. George, quite frankly; I concentrate on the 3 and the 8MA - in parallel with the PA. I know that when all 3 MAs are in line is best... BUT... I have found in practice that, if I wait until then, I leave quite a few pips on the table - and I am not yet comfortable (that well-off financially I don't use the 50 when trading the D1. The TP, SL & TS rules work beautifully. Thinking about it; I wouldn't either on the H4 or H1. I'd use the D1 rules on them too! George, this is why I love working with you. Every time I read your reply I know I am (metaphorically) doing a 'Star Trek' voyage (going where I have never gone before). Thank you for your patience! Hope this answer makes sense? Cheers. |

George, I had a chance to have a good look at your indi on the chart. Qn:-is the reason that the 2 designated sets of bars are there the fact that "It's very strict above the HHHL and LHLL evaluation, perhaps too strict."?? I ask because they seem to be indicating a cross that is not reflected in the 3 & 8MA. Thanks, |

No, this is back to what Steve correctly noticed about your Moving Averages. You have EMAs in your templates, but the 3/8 crossover signal uses Smoothed Moving Averages. In the indicator, you can change the setting "MA_Mode" to a 2, and your chart should match up. Next update will default to SMMAs. The strict HHHL and LHLL logic shows up when you change the "Duck" setting in the indicator to a 2. George |

Yair!! Huge amounts of egg on my face on that one!!! I realised that when I put the settings below into the (EURUSD_D1_ 2808-1011_Data.xls) spreadsheet I built directly from the data window and the internal Indicator tab on the platform. (indicator.png) The live and a demo a/c taskbar icons (taskbar.png) I run 'Ducks' on were in reverse order...they are not now! Thanks for adjusting the default setting accordingly! Wendy is on my back right now. "Do you ever carry on! Go and find someone else to harass - and leave the poor bloke alone to do his job! I want to throttle you and I'm only watching - so he 's probably 10 times worse!" Cheers, mate! |

Hehe. Tell Wendy she is pure class. It is axiomatic that: all coders think that the rationale behind what we do is blindingly, screamingly clear and obvious; software users think coders can read their minds. Somehow, the two parties occasionally collide somewhere in the middle and some understanding emerges. By accident, usually. |

110% my good man...110%!:D Steve, you have just won Wendy's heart & soul! Having been party to what George and I have just been going through re 'being on the same page'; she understands both your 'frustration'. Reckons you are '... pretty good blokes!" (High praise indeed!) Thanks. Take care. |

Oh wow. I am made up. Always wanted to be considered a 'pretty good bloke' by an upside-downer, but never thought a pathetic pom could achieve such an accolade. I would now write, "I need never write a line of code ever again and retire fulfilled" but I am terrified that I would then hear the massed ranks of sighs of relief and cries of, "Yes. Yes. Yes. Finally. He has stopped." so I am not giving you lot the chance. |
