10 out of 10 of my favorite ea are not working after update. they are all calling dll and others custom indicator. What the hell crappy Empty4 are doing? Should i spend couple of months trying to learn crappy mql4 intergrated mql5, testing and then debugging or what?!!!! Disaster :youknow:

That is correct. If your broker has already pushed the MQ update on, then you have no choice about the update implementing. That post was in respect of GP who haven't pushed it out yet, but whose clients were experiencing updates anyway.

It is a shame your broker has already complied without giving some time to acclimatize.

I restarted my GP demo last night and it upgraded. There was no warning at all. Once it was going to "stopped responding" and crashed. Had to change all of the "." in the EA to "_" to make it run.
Although I used the editor for only 20 minutes it looks way better than previous with a touch of the scite editor, even has a code formatter. We shall see. The forum will be flooded with requests now to fix the EA's and indi's now. Almost need a script to change "." to "_" but not blindly.

I'll go ahead and ask this question for all us rookie programmers - what does this mean?

Tightened requirements for start function. Parameters could have been set in start function before. Now, all init, start, deinit, OnInit, OnStart, OnTick, OnTimer and other entry points should exactly match their signatures

So now we have to replace all out "." dots in the variables to something else, or delete them.

This is going to be time consuming and prone to errors, opening files in the editor and using find replace.I've done two EA's and an include and what a pain in the ass.
A script would sure help move this along, even if it catches 80% of the fixes.

What we could really use is a script that will find and replace "." with "_"
It needs to look for a letter before and after the "." before it changes the "." to a "_"

I suggest a vbscript that can be run from the command line with the target filename. Any other ideas? Maybe a script run within scite? VB would be more universal.

Here is a start from a Google search. This script is not smart enough and will change all "." to "_". We need to add smarts but I don't get this VB stuff. This can even take care of the search string and the replace string, inside the code.

Any takers on a little code help? In the code below, add a filter to check the text has a letter before and after the "." before replacing. I have no idea how this would search for text, if it not taking word by word then the code below is a non-starter.

To use the script (call it replace.vbs), type a command similar to this from the command prompt:
cscript replace.vbs "C:\Scripts\Text.txt" ". " "_ "

V.600 - How I did it. Don't know if this the best way, but it seems to be working.

1. Load up V.600
2. In Empty4, go to File>Open Data Folder>MQL4. There you will see the folders to load up, EAs, Scripts, etc. Be sure you load them in this window, not our traditional Empty4 directories.
4. Restart Empty4.

Now load your EA's as usual. As I said, this worked for me, of course your mileage may vary.

(One interesting thing, I load most everyting on my E:/ drive, all programs including Empty4. For the C:/ I have an SSHD, which I use for Windows and a few other utility type things. When following my distructions above, it seemed to load these files into C:/ with an associated longer path, not the E:/ drive. Not sure what to make of it, it just is what it is.)
