So I wanted to show you what I am up too. I am spending time just with the clean templates studying how ribbons might be traded with out other indicators. This is not to go indicator-less but to concentrate on putting a detailed guide to the ribbons that answers the question that crosses my mind as I trade. Do the order of the x crosses give us any clues. Does the white edge top or bottom in a uptrend have significance and how about in a down trend. If Pairs are ordered but there edges are not going in the same direction what than. This will take some time. I will be also looking at Bob's 10.7. Only when I can elucidate some of these questions will the confidence I have in the ribbons be persuadable to others. Since Bob is designing this new 10.7 tool I want to see where that is leading. If the ribbon patterns can be cataloged fully than indicators used with them are supportive. Volume will always have a place in this system. I do not want anybody to come away thinking I traded these charts ... I did not. Rather this is an attempt to study how I would without any other indicators but the ribbons so that how they behave can become solid in my mind and trading. Here I am looking at the far right edge and trying to come to a conclusion about what would happen next and what clues. Nice spacing between ordered pairs with there white edge on the bottom in a down trend. Than reversal up counter trend. Here are the crosses. What do they suggest will happen. Here you could have got in on the retrace in the lake and made 50 pips. Here the four hour is coming down trend like a locomotive. Ordered pairs accept the grey white edge is down not up. This is forming a triangle as a large time period collides with several smaller periods. A nice down trend is the result. These were all on GBPCAD this week. I want these clues to be verified and understood. If that can be done than it should not be to hard to index them and spot them. I could use all the help I can get with this and please feel free to share your ideas about this in the thread. There are many who will see things I am not seeing and that is a good thing. What I have learned for sure here is that ordered pairs are a strong clue to a move in the ordered direction. Now I need to find the opposite example if there are any. It would seem that this should not happen except in consolidation possibly. Fascinating thought. Price always leads and by a mile the larger periods greater than the 15 minute. Price crossing the ribbons is what is being traded always. |

Hi Slowkey, just followed you here from Bob`s tread. Very interesting indeed. I was going to read some of your posts for some time as cuzgeorge has mentioned that he keeps in touch with manual trading through your way of trading, him being the pure automated trading trader. Also the Gann and his work started to popping up on my radar again. So I am just going to give it a try and hopefuly I`ll be able to digest all this properly. Thank you very much for the tread. Now back to the reading. |

For those who trade the higher time periods I will be making a special template or two for those time periods. Since I can create new time periods in hour increments easily on the 60 minute I will probably use that time period although the four hour may get looked at again to. |

These are far and away the most beautiful charts I have ever seen. They are so gorgeous I just hope and pray that there are some workable strategies based upon them so that I can gaze at them all day! Slowkey, I hope that doesn't sound flippant - you've clearly put a hell of a lot of effort into this. I read quickly through the thread but am still struggling to come to terms with how the ribbons can be used in practice. I'm looking forward to the videos in order to learn more. Great work, good luck to you and thanks for a fascinating approach. Steve |

Accomplished ... Bullish Trend Trade, Volume build up, Stoch setup good. Will be crossing ordered ribbons in the direction of the trend. Enter a position... result Ribbons Crossed: Grey, Blue, Green, Some rejection at brown and I am out. I crossed ordered pairs for at least 50-60 pips. Why does this work. Ever look at a multi time period HAS. You enter when the second time period goes green etc. Pray it all last. Here you have none of that nonsense. Everything is on one chart. You know that price moves earlier on lower time periods than higher time periods. However here you get to actually see it cross the time period to an open black area than the next time period. You see price and every time period on the chart in front of you. It crosses the 15 minute, 30 minute, one hour, and may get hung up on the 4 hour or not but you know exactly where price can stop ahead of time. You know ahead of time that if it gets across the next edge of the ribbon as long as momentum holds it will move on. You can measure exactly where you want to be in pips. You do not have to wait for the chart to move to the right to see the ribbons. However trading the right edge of the chart is always different in a real situation. Round numbers still need to be looked at and pivots. Time is on the chart in front of you. You are not understanding it that way at first. Time is built into the ribbons. In reality every Empty4 time period has been scaled bottom up from the one minute. Because it has been done with math it is not affected by Empty4. Price always leads but as each ribbon is crossed by price the ribbon also will turn and follow and in order accept for the largest to turn it will take a turn in trend. Right now you could take a trade into what I would call the sky above. Or ocean below. If you had support by a trend, stoch and volume I feel pretty sure it would be successful. No You would still need to observe for pivots and round numbers but pretty clear sailing. Accomplished ... The cause of every chart pattern is right in front of you to see on one chart. M or W what ever. You will see the edge and time periods that caused it. It could also be a round number or pivot however you can see it. No guessing. This is all getting integrated into Bobs 10.7 and up. I am getting better understanding of how to make this more simple. It is coming together. The docs will be rewritten once I look at 10.7 and integrate it. Just as Bobs top down approach works on the higher time periods this bottom up approach will work on the lower. It will work because the ribbons were the hardest part of it and they are done. Thanks for Participating and as always thanks for your input. Doug |

Doug, looks like you're into something really special here. I downloaded your packages, but unfortunately no ribbons show up when i load your templates at whatever timeframe. (Also there is an include file needed / missing for one indi .) Can you perhaps help with a step by step instruction how to build one's own templates for showing the ribbons properly? Like which indicator with which settings for ribbon 1, ribbon 2 etc. ...? And what ribbon 1, 2, etc exactly are and what's their purpose ...? I feel a little bit overwhelmed by the vast amount of info in your PDFs and have difficulties to sort it out in a way i can comprehend, I tried to match the info from the PDFs with the charts you posted in the thread, but when you talk of lakes, cups etc. i mostly seem to miss the forest for the trees.... |

Read the install note in post 1. If you still cannot install after that please let me know the broker and version of your Empty4. Every thing is in the bundle. I think that will fix your problem. Please get back with me if you can not install. I will get it figured out for you. I learned to use computers before the internet and Windows. DOS was the only operating system. Do not worry to much about not understanding the docs at first. I thought I had put to little in them really. They will be re-written but I can only go so fast I will but it is deep down on my to do list. I will probably get to it in future docs. So much to do first to get this plane above the trees. In general though you build the big ones first and the second biggest next. So you have to do the math on the big one first. For example the 240 is as big as I will go for this example. I am building the template just to work on the Empty4 one hour time period. So the increments will be 60 minute each. What is the factor. Well the 240 divided by 60 equals 4. That is the factor. So now multiply the ratio of 36/54 by 4 and that equals 144/216 . That is your 240 ribbon settings on the meta trader 1 hour Empty4 time period. A quick double check of your numbers 1+4+4 = 9.... 2+1+6 = 9 . Once you add your volume of .59 and .63 the ribbon is complete except for the color choices etc. So now you see how easy it would be to build a 2 hour time period. This it the nutshell view and probably will not get you that far because there are a lot of little decisions to be made. I may build a template that allows you to turn on and off ribbons using the visualizations but they take time. You can not add a new time period between the 60 and 4 hour last or it will cover up the others. The way around this is to build one with 1 hour through 10 hours for instance and turn the ones you do not want to see off. Thanks for Participating Doug |

The Newest Gann_Bob_10.7 bundle will be always found in post 1. The bundle will be up by late day 4/16/14 I doubt if Demark will be used on the intraday although on higher time periods he may be help full. I love Demark but the gann system makes trend lines sort of obsolete. You can get a stoch warning and than look at the chart to make a decision based on Ribbons. There are different setting set for the 1 hour and 4 hour than Bob. The lower time periods are my rather radical settings. Feel free to offer advice on this. My brain is trying to digest several things at once. All very interesting but focus is still important to keep this system developing. I am looking forward to doing the videos. I have a very nice new USB Microphone that is highly rated and I am anxious to use it. A little bit about me. I am retired and disabled RN. 61 years old. My life has always been about helping other. I spent 21 years as an ICU RN. Than I was a house supervisor on the week ends for 5 years. This meant I was responsible for the hospital in the absence of all the important people Enjoy the week and for us in the norther hemisphere Spring is here. Thank God. Doug |

Doug, i'm on build 625 and installing wasn't really the problem. I prefer to compile the indis i use, to see if any error pops up and not to run too much blackbox stuff. So that's what i did. After your reply here, I figured out that if i just copy over the ex4 from your "bundles", i get to see the (candle)light ...ahm ...ribbons ... But not when i compile the indis from the mql myself. As i said before: at least in one case the compiler complained about a missing include. Either this a Empty4 compiler / build issue, or your already compiled ex4 include some sort of special sauce to make the ribbons show Anyway, now i have something to look at my own charts and can try to make sense of all the coloured ribbons i see |
