Thanks Steve! BG's working like a charm now. No changing TPs and closing on time as intended. Only the spread detection mechanism still seems to be taking trades when the spread went passed MaxSpread in the past minutes. For example here; This is a M5 chart. The indicator below is a spread monitor. The maximum spread was well over 3 but still trades were taken. Other than that, the EA seems to work nicely! My M15 sets are clearly beating all my M5 sets. As I suspected, setting up high enough targets is the way the go. M15 set 3 is nearing 2% (I actually had it accidentally set up with a CandleLife of 15 mins instead of 30 mins, would've passed the 2% mark by now if it were - unfortunately we don't live in world of 'if's).... As I'm writing this post, it just hit its 45 pip target and indeed capped well over 2% now on a 3000 EUR demo account. I'm going to concentrate more on the M15 and up, feel like M5 just doesn't cut it as it is prone to too many sudden swings and mistakes due to volatility. The M15 allows for higher TP targets and that's exactly what this needs; exploiting the waves as much as possible. I haven't yet had the time to prepare configurations for momentum trading, pity though as we had some very nice opportunities today. Again it seems M15 and up will be the timeframes to concentrate on for momentum trading. For those momentum trades I'll provide configurations too of course. Also will work on configurations that will adhere more to the original idea of the first few posts. |

You need to enable chart snapshots and post a pic of a trade taken incorrectly before I can do anything about it. |

Apologies for the late update here guys. Been busy with lots of other things. I've learnt a lot about myself and my preferences as a trader in the past few weeks. I want keep things simple and straight-forward. I want to win the game over many trades, over time. I don't want my winners to become losers. I want to cut my losses quick. I believe in EAs; for an EA shall follow the rules without being tormented by emotions which fragile man is subject to. If the trade is there, an EA will take it. Exactly on time. Man may have lost 4 times in a row and not dare to take the trade anymore when he should. An EA doesn't care and will do exactly as it is told. I've simplified the strategy. I've been using BG Momentum on M15. TradeCandleLife = 3 (i.e. 45 mins). When there's a Diff between 2 Wilder's DMI bars of more than 0.7, take a trade in that direction. That's it. No differences in TP. No TP at all actually. I use BE and JS to fully make use of big moves and rallies. These BE and JS are important which I've failed to recall until recently. GJ + majors. Also provide every trade with a SL. I let the EA take their last trades before the end of US session and let them wake up again a few hours later during the Asian session. That's it. Simple and straight-forward. Let the odds play out. It seems to do so over the last week from what I gathered. Now there are still some irregularities that I've witnessed. The main one is a changing SL. Sometimes higher, sometimes lower than the one configured in the EA. When I notice this, I compile the EA in the Empty4 editor and it reinitialises correctly but after a while seems to change anyway. I'm not really sure when exactly though. Another one is that the EA seems to not allow a pair to have more than 1 active trade at a time, which greatly reduces the profitability during big moves (trust me the percentage would've been much higher then). It should be allowed to enter max 1 trade per bar (in this case 1 trade every 15 minutes), but should be allowed to have several active trades at a time of course. Steve, gentlemen, could you please have a look here for BG Momentum? Much appreciated! |

Here are the setfiles for those who wish to tag along. They go with BG Momentum. Don't forget to adjust TradingHours. I've just added AUDJPY to the list. Keen to see how this plays out upcoming week. Make sure stoplosses don't change though. If they do, just open BG Momentum in Empty4 editor and compile. Or open and close your Empty4 instance. Key are SL and JS placement. They are part of money management which a lot of people consider the most important aspect of trading. No matter how good a system is. If MM is not in place, winners will be left to turn into losers and losers will become even bigger losers if the plug isn't pulled out when it should. This is just a simple direction-continuation system. If Diff > 0.7 hop in the same direction with JS and SL in place. That's it. Ample opportunities a day for every pair. |
