if one of the seven entry signals switches to FLAT, the overall signal stays the same because six of seven is around 85% and still not under the exit threshold. If one of the entry signals becomes SHORT or two become FLAT, the exit threshold is undercut and the overall signal changes to FLAT
Thomas,
I understand Why at least 2 strategies need to become FLAT so the overall is FLAT (2 of 7 makes it less than 85%),
but why, instead, only 1 strategy has to become in the opposite direction of an open trade, so that overall signal becomes FLAT as well?

It is very simple.

A LONG signal is counted as +1, a short SIGNAL as -1 and a FLAT signal as 0.

7 of 7 LONG signals are 7/7=100%
6 LONG and 1 FLAT are 6/7=86%
5 LONG and 2 FLAT are 5/7=71%
6 LONG and 1 SHORT are 5/7=71%

Now if you set the exit threshold to 70%, all the above would not give you an exit signal. You would need 3 FLAT (4/7=57%) or 1 FLAT and 1 SHORT (4/7=57%) or 2 SHORT (3/7=43%) to fall below 70%.

Vice versa on the SHORT side.

Cheers
Thomas

Now I got you.
When you explain slowly I understand quickly

My threshold is 65%, so I should not close a trade if only one strategy is FLAT or SHORT, but then Overall Signal is FLAT as it should be for entry trade at 100%, but not for exit which I should be still in the trade.

Maybe another arrow/signal column for exit according threshold will make it easier for us to distinguish between entry and exit.

HGI1-15 is ignored by Overall Signal, that has to be 100%.

Still don't understand it? It has been at the entry threshold, but not yet fallen below the exit threshold. So it is still a valid signal.

Hi All

What a amazing piece of programming this is Thomas - I have never been a manual trader but this makes it sooooooo easy. :yahoo: :yahoo:

Anyway, I am trading TDesk a bit differently

I am looking for a strong weekly trend (SS W1) and an opposite signal on the Daily (SS D1) for trade entry.

I check TDesk each morning (Aussie time) for charts showing these opposite signals and if the chart looks good (nice trend and not near supports - checked with 'SS_SupportResistance_v07') I place a 5 x pending grid with 30 pips spacing in the direction of SS W1. (as you can see I have not taken all signals)

Each day I recheck and if price has moved even further against the W1 tread and no trades taken (but signals still valid) I delete pendings and place a new set which is closer to the current price
TDesk (D1W1 signal).JPG
Take AUDCAD as an example: SS W1 is down, SS D1 is up, place SELL pending grid
TDesk (AUDCAD).JPG
I also have STOCH H4 showing as a possible trigger for entry but have not used it yet

Have not decided on an EXIT strategy yet. Maybe a basket $ amount

Anyway, I will let you know if I am talking rubbish in a few weeks :hi:

Cheers Richard

So Overall Signal functions as entry or exit in this case?
And what about USDCHF signal? There is no open trade there, so it should be an entry signal with 100%.
NZDCAD has a flat signal while exit threshold is not triggered yet.

My dear, I'm in a good mood and take the time to explain again.

You think too complicated. Try to understand the extreme simplicity of TDesk.

The signal goes from flat to directional once it reaches the entry threshold. It goes back to flat only when the exit threshold is then undercut again. It doesn't care about positions. Why should it?

You see an arrow and have no position? Enter one.
You have a position and see a circle? Exit or hedge it.

There is nothing else to it.

Cheers
Thomas
