I decided to run a sanity check for November based on what I have done so far before making any more changes to entry conditions.

I have put my original M5H1D1 set along with the more recent H1D1 andH4D1 sets on one account so I can compare over the whole month and with the expected USA volatility it will be interesting to see how they cope and which comes out on top. MyFxbook link in my signature for this account.

OK, for those interested: The principle is quite simple (and therefore quite brilliant). The Global Market Trend is the sum of all Currency Slope Strengths squared. In short: the higher the value, the more the market is trending. All CSS values are 'wide'...when they come together and are 'tight', the market is ranging...there are no notable strong or weak currencies.

Trading the H1D1 set on a 1000 USD account, last week I was up by 2 percent on Friday. With the drawdown being 10 percent on market close (the highest drawdown too).
Right now My account is up 6% with a drawdown of 0.3%.

Using the cross instead (and level check as > 0.2) but without waiting for a candle close takes longer to build the same size position but with better-averaged entries and has also meant I ended up with a few hedged trades where price changed direction during the day which makes the negative impact of those pairs less within the basket.

I feel I have reached a fairly decent basic safe setup with these sets for smaller account sizes excluding the CHF pairs and filtering by session times and Global Trend Filter. Next I want to look at the range allowed for trade setup on the higher timeframe.

I am wondering whether restricting the D1 diff to a maximum of +4 to prevent entering once a trend is already extended will perhaps protect from getting caught when price turns. Then also maybe allowing a negative value upto -4 to catch reversals in the right direction instead.

The strategy is very solid in my opinion.

Due to maintenance on tuesday from 9h00-13h00 I closed my VPS last weekend, forgetting that there were still some trades open and running..... :arrrg:

Yesterday I restarted the VPS and noticed the open basket in huge DD. The EA picked up where it was left behind, and started adding trades again.

This morning it recovered from a 9K+ DD and closed the 1% TP-trigger with a 8% profit due to the amount of orders.

I use Zennor's set with the H4/H1 trigger and a 1% basket TP. The EA is running 24/5.

If it succeeds here, it will succeed with GP for sure.

Yes with my demo testing I want to see what the max drawdown will be for each set file over the next few weeks without limiting this with a SL placed on guesswork. When trading live I prefer adding hedging/recovery trades to using a SL although I trade with a small account which makes a big difference.

Obviously feel free to adjust this to your own preference for your own testing :smile:

On a separate note I have just closed up shop on my live trading for the next week. Chance to take a breather now and watch from the comfort of my demo account any craziness that unfolds with the run up to the USA election next week. Suggest anyone else trading live considers the same.

Interestingly so far this week with this latest group test the M5H1D1 set with Diff and Delta trigger is ahead of both the latest H1D1 and H4D1 sets based using CSS cross as trigger. I have just added a 4th set for comparison which is the same settings as M5H1D1 but H1H4D1 instead.
