Well really he's just selling CAD and buying JPY. GBP happens to be common but is that a problem? I haven't checked but if CAD/JPY is tanking then isn't it valid? This sort of thing happens all the time with the crosses, or else we'd all just be trading fibre.MrLong wrote: Secondary

Please comment, Jim
Again on your secondary, you are buying GBP and then selling GBP.

That's in effect what he is doing, but the H4 CSS shows CAD at an up angle and JPY at a down angle.SWG123 wrote:Well really he's just selling CAD and buying JPY. This sort of thing happens all the time <== yes, and a trader should not take that trade.SWG123 wrote:Well really he's just selling CAD and buying JPY. GBP happens to be common but is that a problem? OK Andy, let's take another example. Last week EURAUD went up 500 pips. EURJPY went down by almost the same amount. Buy Euro, sell Euro - best of both worlds. Why on earth would I not take those trades?MrLong wrote:This sort of thing happens all the time <== yes, and a trader should not take that trade.SWG123 wrote:Well really he's just selling CAD and buying JPY. But cherry picking is not how things happen in the real world, I have not looked over things but I'm sure I can show you where a trader made on one trade and lost on the other, all I'm pointing out is that if you are selling a currency, why would you buy it also, in fact that is not the way to trade, Jim took a GBPNZD long and made on the trade, he also took a EURGBP long and got stopped.SWG123 wrote:OK Andy, let's take another example. It's because we don't buy or sell a currency, we buy or sell a currency pair.
And I didn't cherry pick by the way. There are a dozen examples I could have used from last week alone.

I have read that too (going to take an upcoming webinar of theirs). It is exactly what you have been telling us.nanningbob wrote:This is John Maudin's letter on Japan and demographics. Interesting how he shows that what we learn in textbooks doesnt show up in live data. I find this stuff fasicinating. The ratio of number of people who will be working in 17 years compared to retirees is fascinating. The reason they can come up with this stuff is they aleady know how many people have been born so you already know what the future workforce will be and you know how many people will be going into retirement over the next 17 years. Never seen a study like this before. Have a good read.
About the other link I posted I meant volatility not JPY specific. I have had fever due to cold for a while so I should have been more clear, sorry my bad.
Should rest now but I have a splitting headace because of this AC induced cold.

Ok, I have enjoyed our debate, It is not normal practice to take the trades we have debated about.SWG123 wrote:It's because you're not trading a currency, You are trading a currency pair.
