If you use a simple moving average like a 14 or 20 (doesnt matter) and just following it up and bail out when it is crossed you will be fine.
Hi Bob, do you recommend any particular timeframe to apply this MA to?

Can anyone guess which TF I use???
Just a wild guess will do.
It has to be a wild guess, as you never mentioned your favorite TF...
I assume this is a joke. :)

mjws00 wrote:I got no crystal ball on JPY. I kinda like Pipstubborns thought on taking the trade ala 10.4 with an eye on the fact that it could shoot violently long on BOJ activity. i.e play it tight and possibly small when short.

I skipped the short setups last week on xxxjpy, ej had a valid long which I took. Nasty 450 pip EJ shakeout here. This week I will try and play with less bias, but eyes wide open on my shorts.

I was biased long with Bob, but believe they will pick their timing in a manner that won't let a bunch of funds and retails front run them at the beginning of the month. They killed the weak longs on this last move, and had a chance to buy lower if they wanted to. IMHO that opens up things nicely for them to move it a ways if they choose. To me that is additional short risk.

I intend to take the correlated trades as I see them, so I will just reduce size a bit and spread yen risk across the various pairs. I am dying to find some sort of edge in the volume approach to this system. Last week there were some jpy pairs BUY, some SELL. Right now all are sell ala 10.4

Got a board with some lights, when CSS confirms, I'll fire first ask questions later. ;) No counter trades necessary, EJ, GJ will be there to get us long on Yen weakness IMHO.

Mike
Me too, I'm trading 10.4 straight up this week. When the stars line up I will fire a trade.

gee sorry guys for asking the question...mustve been meant for the dummies section.
seeing that this is not based on any 10.4 - 10.5 strategy I thought it was relevant!
anyone else want to tell me there is no difference between a 14ma on a 1H chart and a 14ma on a 4Hour chart!

All the yen pairs are 10.4/5 signalling short, but are you guys all playing against the signals, going for yen fundamentals/bond selling and going long those pairs? confused. Also pairs are signalling shorting the CAD but it's kicking ass on CSS info page, so that seems a scary setup. What trades are people taking today?

I'm waiting for frankie/london to get onboard. There are a few setups out there confirmed with 1Hr CSS.

Heh. They all seem to have a "problem" when I look at them. So much for fire first ask later. ;)

AUDCHF is Sell, RSI topped, CSS H1 RED. --- But we gapped down. Bounced off DS1 and are climbing. So I'll wait.

AUDJPY is Sell, RSI Topped, CSS Gold --Gap filled. Likely safe pending @ DP. No trigger if it keeps rising.

CADJPY is Sell, RSI Topped, CSS Green. Waiting. But if it turns might be nice break of WP and good potential. DR1 holding for now. Break of 96.00 might play. CSS change market order (JEM) maybe.

EURCAD Buy, RSI pegged, CSS RED, Waiting. Messing around Fridays low. More Downside potential imho. Pending at DP is likely safe and no trigger if move continues.

EURCHF Sell, RSI topped, CSS yellow. Cross is fresh. Buy CHF (blech). But there is potential that WP holds and we test WS1. DP pending probably safe likely an out if triggered.

EURUSD Buy, RSI bottomed, CSS RED, Waiting. Very toppy and Messing with Fri Low. DP might be a peaker. I'd wait on Lon.

GBPCAD, Buy, RSI pegged, CSS RED, Waiting. Nice pullback. Possible long through break of WP. 1.5800 holding nicely. DP pending likely safe no trigger if downside continues. Nice potential to test WR1

GBPUSD Buy, RSI bottomed, CSS RED, Waiting. Nice pullback. DP held upside so far. Might test WP. DP pending scares me as a peaker. Solid break through has 40 pips, but I'm careful.

USDCHF Sell, RSI topped, CSS Green, Waiting. DP sell safer looking than EURUSD. Maybe a play to DS1. Looks like DR1 gets tested, I might sell after that base if the setup shows.

USDJPY Sell, RSI topped, CSS Green, Waiting. Held by DR1. Waiting on Lon. 98.00 break might play. CSS Yellow (market ala Jem) maybe. DP has 150 pip potential. Gap 80 pips. If it continues up, no harm done. Test of 99.00 sometime this week seems likely. Maybe a setup there would be nice.

That's my two bits. All 10.4 compliant. We should be leaving the station soon. :)

I've coded a very rudimentary 10.5 EA, you can find it at http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... =44&t=2488

DO NOT USE IT ON YOUR LIVE ACCOUNT

Andy,

any particular reason why i cannot just use the actual value of mydiff to calculate, instead of comparing csslong and cssshort?
MyDiff is the difference in strength between currency 1 and currency 2, myDiff at 0.00 would mean both the same strength.

You can highlight myDiff, so it's not used, you would assume if we have taken a trade, the A > B, so when that is no longer the case, B would be stronger than A.
