This is the true power of HGBn'G ! This was in DD and look at it now. I had to be very patient though for like 2 days. But hey! look at it roar now

Thing of a beauty right here! I say save your money and don't ever buy another EA. Donate to Steve for his time for this little beast instead!!! :good:

Started HGBnGrid OOTB on a small live account as of 29 March and my account has grown 5% over night... :good:

So I wake up this morning in the Far East and see a lot of posts in the last 8 hours! Congratulations everyone!

My GBPUSD ride down last week had now become a ride up. The comment earlier of Steve and Tommaso about GU is true indeed!

Woke up this morning seeing the HGBnG Experimental about 1400 floating pips up and manually closed all trades.

Have now added sAPBM to close all trades at 2.5% equity increase, which seems to work well for all versions of HGBnG.

I am running this one completely OOTB for now, been running since Steve created it.
Sorry for my newbie question , because I am very new here. what is the trade history indicator that you used?. I cannot find it in this forum.

Thanks

How did the 10pips from iClose thingy work on NZDUSD?
I did not get those trades - the margin filter prevented them.

I am at last at the stage when the accrued profit is over twice that of current DD. Makes a bloody change.

:xm:
At least it's not closing right away now.
Curious to what the next candle will bring.

HGBnG making awesome progression right now.
I had USDJPY over 1600pips in DD yesterday, closed with small profit just now @112.05

Nice, my UJ is still -400 and getting worse at the moment. I can understand what Steve said about trading this EA hands off on a live account; you'd need balls of steel.
Mine has been going since Monday, Balance +1%, DD-3%

I'm curious what people are planning to at the weekend? I've been leaving HGBnG totally alone over the previous 3 weekends and carrying trades over.

I will second that.

The SemaforRetracePips thingy is working well. The blasted UC finally got moving:

I have added Quantum and you can see the first new low just to the right of the yellow line. HGBnG would previously closed the trades but the new feature has allowed it to keep them open.

I should have left those GU buys open:

The trade marked with the dashed blue line was the biggest winner. You can see how much bigger it would be now had I left it alone. I am back in again following those RAD arrows - just in time for the retrace as usual. :arrrg: Hey ho.

The bot is claiming that those two trades and the EU that just filled are Blue Wave trades, so there is a bloopete somewhere in the TradeComment setting.

DD is down to a third of what it was when the markets closed last week. Brilliant week so far.

I've had a chance to take a look at the part two video and the thread and I understand how part 2 works. If you already know how it works (or if you're not interested!) then ignore this.

In part 1 - the sell only grid - the losing trades are closed out when a retrace causes the more recent trades in the grid to go into profit. When the cumulative profit of these recent trades equals the amount of the oldest, worst loss trade then they are closed as a basket with little or no profit but the exposure is reduced. We get this, it's the experimental version.

Where part 2 comes in is that it opens a hedged buy grid at the same price levels as the sell grid builds. The aim is still to close out the oldest, worst losing sell trade but this time, we use profits from the buy grid to help do this.

Assume price has been rising and we've opened sell and buy trades at each grid level. When price retraces just one grid level, the buy grid gets one losing trade on top of a pile of winners. The losing buy trade is closed along with the oldest ( and biggest) winning buy trade. When these are netted off you have some profit. This "buy" profit is then split into two parts. One half of it goes into a "profit" pot and is not touched - this is the right hand side on the video. The other half of the "buy" profit from this closure is put into the slush fund that is used to close off the oldest sell trade. At this same retrace point, having allocated the two halves of the buy profit, you look to see if you have enough to close the oldest sell trade. You have the profit from the newest sell trade PLUS you have your new slush fund (left hand side pot) to use. If this total is enough to close the oldest sell trade without loss then you do, if you can't close the oldest sell trade with the total amount you have you wait.

If price goes back up, we keep adding buys and sells to keep the grid structure. If we get another retrace to the next level we look at the buy side first again. Again, this will have one losing trade and the rest winners. We close out the one losing trade and the largest winner and we're left with a net "buy" profit. Again, this is divided into two. Half goes into the profit pot and half goes into the slush fund. Then, at this same grid level, looking across at the sells, if the total of the slush fund PLUS the winning sell trade(s) can be used to net off the worst looser then they are closed and the balance of the slush fund is reduced.

This process can keep going until you choose to stop it - my guess is when the grid gets very imbalanced or when the buy grid gets to zero trades or when the total net profit hits a particular level. If there isn't a buy or sell at a particular grid level then they are opened but it's worth noting that this isn't a perfect hedge and so the overall position is not fully protected.

The thread is typically confusing with lots of bickering, trolling and off topic annoyance but it looks like the author is still writing his ea for part 2. He's trying to write it for MT5 because he wants to be able to hold the sells and buys as one position and only actually hold the "grid" within the ea memory. As the grid builds it is totally hedged so you could actually start out with a large trade in both directions and the ea could break this down into a grid. Then when you are closing out buys and sells at each grid level, it could be reduced to just one trade with everything else calculated within the ea. This would also allow you to change the grid size - or at least that's the theory. It looks like that's what is causing the delay in the production of the ea and an Empty4 version hasn't been produced.

I hope that helped clear up the understanding of what the part 2 of the system does. Looking at it, it's not based on any signal and the grids work in a very different way so I guess it would have to be another thread on here if anyone was interested in exploring it further?

Greetings friends,

I'm having good results with HGB 'n Grid...

You have to have balls of steel... but also treat DD as part of your mini investment within your equity, and whatever you generate after that grows your account... overall the gains in your equity amount will be higher than your DD... to minimise you DD I initially to 0.01 or 0.02 lot which I set the sizeofwallop to a higher number... as my live account is higher than 1000...

Being in the red or DD, and how you deal with it in the long term is a psychological feeling of losing... and the sense of urge of taking over the EA will be tough to handle...

But as Steve says, only trade what you are willing/afford to lose if all things fail, and if you can't afford to lose/blow that account, it will be tough, you will try to take over, you will be discouraged... even now my DD is at -14% but that DD is covered by my equity gain...

Also when you make some decent amount, take some out, and it'll reinforce it in your mind that it's real...

Steve: an idea has cropped to mind, as Equity gained is already higher than DD would it be possible to set an automatic shut down of all the EA's on chart when to protect the equity/balance if there is a sudden change in market conditions... say if DD causes the Equity/balance to go below 70%, shut down all EA's and when we come back and assess the situation... having capital left to trade another day is a good thing...

If not, don't worry... happy trading...

Regards,

Peter
