A humble observeration (for Niepce) [or Phil also] A short while ago, I was testing out Scoob's D1 RSI trend filter condition (pasted below) on an EA I'm working on (trying to teach myself coding In the running of the EA, came across issues with how the RSI was being computed (e.g opening of trades that should not have been entered, etc). Researched quite abit on the Net, and on MQL4 forums, found that when using iRSI on PRICE_CLOSE, a shift of 0 sometimes gives weird results (don't know why). So it was recommend to shift by 1 bar, and use local variables when calculating the RSI Cheers E.G of use in Marylin: iRSI(Symbol(),PERIOD_RSI,14,PRICE_CLOSE,0) ==> shift is last digit === SCOOB's trend filter: Take a 20 period, D1 Rsi: Rsi > 55: trend is long Rsi < 45: trend is short Rsi is in between these values: market is ranging . |

Aaah, OK. That's deceptive of them though... a standard bank week is never 7 days... and a standard NY-close week is 5 days... Thanks |

...maybe this does not bear much weight, given that the MACD and Stoch also have to be right in order for trade to be taken... Cheers |

Update: 1) Marylin (Vanilla) still holding on to AUDUSD long trade 2) Marylin (MPTM) closed long AUDUSD long trade at -150pips I put in mind Phil's mantra --> it is impossible to avoid false signal; the key is to be around when the good trend happens, and let the winner run [ trade small (survive the losses), and keep winners for long ] Cheers |

Yes Mr Phil My next query is on the 3 MACDs 1) why 3 MACD's? 2) how do they work exactly? As you and Niepce said, I'm trying to figure out the best MACD and Stoch and RSI settings for my Broker (AxiTrader). I will post what I get for each pair (hoping I know what I'm doing Cheers |

1 - 3 MACD to ensure trend is well defined. With also a minimum delta pips between each bar to avoid ranging zone. 2 - Main entry signal is when 3 MACD show trend, STOCH confirmation without OBOS zone, and MA25 show end of reverse trend (aggressive entry) or confirm current trend (conservative entry ) -> Delta Pips MA25 is very important to select between aggressive and conservative mode. 3 - RSI W1 is only an option to take profit if RSI W > or < param. I use it for GBPUSD which show in past 4 years that it was a good option. Of course, we have to filter trade to avoid enter if exit filter is already achieved ! |

Another one Phil StochLevelMaxToTrade=70; Upper stoch boundary to allow a long order. Automatically revert for shorts. ==> Does the above mean that we can take a long trade (among other things) if STOCH is LESS THAN or EQUAL to 70? ==> And for shorts: that we can take a short (among other things) when STOCH is GREATER THAN or EQUAL to 30? StochOBOSToMoveSL=90; Upper stoch boundary to set SL to BE if crossed, for long orders. Automatically revert for shorts. ==> Does this mean that when STOCH gets to 90, a long trade will have SL set to BE? ==> (If yes, isn't this value very high (since uppermost boundary of STOCH is 100?) ) Thanks |
