I need to think about this Sam. It might help if others chip in here.

Here is what SPB does when looking for a recovery, and taking buys as an example:
  • adds up the total of all market trade open prices.
  • divides that figure by the number of open trades to calculate a price at which all trades should close at breakeven.
  • adds RecoveryProfitPips to that figure.
  • closes the position when the market hits the breakeven price.
Thingy is, this takes no notice of swap and/or commission costs. Maybe we need to add a stipulation that the cash UPL is positive before closing? Not sure.

Any ideas, folks?

Sam's post made me rethink.

My obsession with a price point meaning we have reached breakeven is clearly a nonsense. It is a classic case of someone working largely alone who gets an idea and sticks with it, never thinking about it again until something goes wrong.

There is only one thingy that is important here - cash. Price points and pips are irrelevant. All we need here is a function that: spots that x trades are losers and triggers Recovery; closes the position when it reaches a cash breakeven (plus a profit lock in to ease the pain of waiting). Simple really.

If this is any help, in my case neither of the two open trades were in profit. It's like SPB thought something was in recovery, but it really wasn't.

I'm pretty sure this has happened a couple of times in the past, when some trades inexplicably closed in the red, but I didn't really understand that it was related to recovery.

Recovery closure now operates on a cash basis. SPB will not close a position unless the cash upl is a breakeven or better. The RecoveryProfitCash input has morphed into RecoveryProfitCash.

I am going to look at Desky now to see if I need to repeat the exercise.

Hi Everyone.

I've recently joined the forum and have begun running SPB. I'm running it on a Demo account and it had 40 pending orders ready on various pairs. None have been executed yet. It appears a few orders did attempt to get executed however Empty4 displayed a few errors.

The message I got is :

EURJPY Slopey Peaky Bob 10000 pips order send failed with error (0): no error

It appears it is retrying to send the order but failing constantly and printing the same errors on the log, as errors come up on the Alert log every few seconds.

First, the good news. I just had a basket close and all the pendings remained open. Thanks Steve, worked like a charm. :hi:

Now, the bad. No matter what I do, the Basket Cash Take Profit = USD $5.00, when it should be in the range of $250 - 100. I have tried all sorts of permutations, to no avail.The strange thing, it seems to come and go.

To cut to the quick, I tried changing all the TP inputs to False, and it still returns $5.00, and I can't figure out where that number is coming from. Any ideas anyone? I'll attach my set file and my experimenting set file.

Now, here is the really crazy thing. If I set Dynamic Basket Take Profit To True, and $5,000 and save that set, the SPB EA screen flashes Basket Cash Take Profit = $USD 250 for a fraction of a second, then goes to Basket Cash Take Profit = USD $5.00.

Maybe it's just the screen display and not the actual working number. I am totally bumfluxed. :arrrg:

Edit: I had a large basket going, but it was in drawdown for the last week and a half. The Basket Cash Take Profit jumped around, then seemed to settle at usd $5.00. I didn't look at my screen today at all until after the basket closed, so I can't say what Basket Cash Take Profit was doing at that point. The basked closed with $41 profit, which is a good way from $5.00.

BasketFridayCashTargets="0,30,12,20,14,10,16,5,18,1"
has to be
BasketFridayCashTargets=" " to disable it

It looks like it did it! When I made your suggested change, "Basket cash take profit =" Bounced right up to USD 250. I thought using 24 for all the other "done for the week inputs" would do it.

I have same problem with SPB 10000 (v.1o) at VPS, now err code changed to 148 (amount of open and pending orders has reached the limit) - I thought that Global Prime has no limit??
So maybe is some problem at broker side? Till today everything was fine.

GP installed a 250 order maximum limit on demo
