Miscellaneous Dumb Questions – All EAs

Post subject:  Miscellaneous Dumb Questions – All EAs
well, it ticked off a few entries here at the hotel, so i guess it's up and running okay. see no contrary messages in the journal or expert tabs. fingers are crossed. meanwhile, to continue in the same dumb-question vein, two more occurred to me:

1/ assuming i'm running the same set as someone else and have adjusted the trading times correctly, should our entries at least be roughly the same? or are they going to be markedly different due to differences in brokers and so on, me oanda in the us, you the great approved one in the uk?

2/ i now have APTM up and running along with MAD-EA but I keep getting the error messages from the TM that "Trade is not allowed. EA cannot run. Please check 'Allow live trading' in the 'Common' tab of the EA properties window." I've gone to the MAD-EA and made sure that live trading allowed box is ticked, as well as that autotrading is allowed and so on. obviously, i'm doing something wrong. anyone have an idea what?

To 1-every broker will give you different results, still using the same broker there can be differences, as you my have less history as an other user, or more, and maybe more delay or less, and so on..
To 2, check same for APTM as this message means that trading for the APTM is disabeled..

I do have the autotrading button set to on for the TM but if there's an 'allow live trading' box on the common field of the TM, I don't see it. any other ideas where i might have messed up? thanks, f

anyone have any further thoughts about how i might troubleshoot getting the TM to work with the EA? i'm sure it's basic user error but it is not, i don't think, any of the ones mentioned above, so now i am at a loss :arrrg:

Seeing that the thread is Miscellaneous Dumb Question I won't feel so bad in trying to give you a possible Miscellaneous Dumb Answer.

What I am thinking is that you are trying to run 2 EAs on the same trade chart. If this is the case, do you not need to look at your Magic Numbers and make sure that they are different from one another?

On a separate note, I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve out of your trade manager but I am currently running SAPBTM v125 on a separate chart as I don't like to put more than one EA per chart. Maybe this will help?

I don't know nor do I profess to know anything :smile:

hi steve: thanks for not relegating me to the dust bin just yet. afaik, i am not running more than one EA. i have two charts open. one has MAD-EAv1.3 on it. the other has APTM on it. the magic number on both is set to 0. on APTM, i have tried it with 'use magic number' set both to true and to false. makes no diff.
i have attached two screenshots. if something in them makes you want to ban me, please tell what i've done wrong befoe hitting me with the hammer.

try to use APTM with the original settings, that should do the job, than change step by step what you want to set and test it out.., but you must too allow live trading for APTM(you must see too in the chart you attach APTM the smiley face..) not only for MAD EA..

oh crap i'm an idiot. i just noticed that the TM has "EA" in its title. i have it running as an indicator. no wonder i'm not getting no smiley face nor anything else. please, guys, have pity on me. one part of me wants to go back and delete many of my earlier posts, other part is kind of curiously anticipating whatever punishment may be meted out. :?
